10 Re: Intel, I wish my employer would offer a voluntary severance package again. A few years ago they were pushing early retirement/separation: You'd get six months' pay, your accumulated vacation time, and assistance finding a new job if you wanted. I wasn't ready for SS then. Now I'd grab such an offer with both hands and my teeth.

Funny thing: I was the only one at the info session to ask, when it came to job assistance, "What if you want to relocate?" Both the advisors and everybody else at the session looked blank, as if the idea of leaving this pesthole had never occurred to them. Another reason why I feel like a Western anthropologist living with and observing a primitive South Seas tribe.

37 A prosperous liberal society has all kinds of room for charlatans and hucksters to make a buck from corruption. But we're not just dealing with charlatans and hucksters. The ones wrecking everything aren't looking to make a lazy buck and live a nice, cozy, filthy little life. They want power and dominance. They need the world to bend its knee. They are villains. From government to academia to finance to the military, just about every institution in civic life is infested with these villains who would rather smash every rice bowl than allow anyone to say "No" to them.

So come on, all you charlatans and hucksters out there. Fight back against the villains. If you don't, then one day, if not today, your sweet little sinecure or do-nothing job will evaporate and you'll be looking down at your broken and empty rice bowl wondering how things ever got to this point.

Elon Musk is a great American, promoting free speech and taking away the lefts censorship toy. The very least anyone can do is open an account and let him earn a few cents in revenue. It takes two minutes to register. Even Donald Trump has returned. A lot of great stuff is to be found that you're not going to find elsewhere.

I'm following Rasmussen as they have a daily tracking poll which even if it is off a little will still show the ups and downs between now and November. It's showing Kamala got a little bump up but she's now lost that ground. Walz did nothing positive and may have hurt her.

The Walz pick proved to me that they're not actually looking to have the presidency in 2024, they're looking to rouse the rabble and achieve maximum FUD. They'll fuck with the election in broad daylight again, but this time not to take it and dare anyone to stop them, but to completely delegitimize the election and the presidency itself. Oh, and we don't need courts, neither, judges are stupid.

Rasmussen is saying that the polling must be terrible for Kamala because so little is being reported. Rass is showing Trump +5 right now and that's even with giving the (D)'s a little advantage in numbers.

There are some indications that the (D)'s may have lost 12,000,000 registrations since the last election. Imagine that if true.

It ain't like they got anyone more suitable in the organization, and it ain't like it matters whose face you carve into the tip of your battering ram as long as the gates eventually fall.

I do think their ultimate prize has shifted from merely sitting in office to knocking everything down and going for a true Year Zero, and they are just Dunningy and Kruegerish enough to think they can actually pull it off. Aren't they the ones they have been waiting for, after all?

64 G'morning Horde,

Let's start with something tech in my life I'm playing wth.

Got my Intel N100 processor based mini-pc for pfSense Firewall use yesterday (TopTon store via AliExpress.) I'd seen tons of videos where the fellow at the "ServeTheHome" YouTube channel had been ordering from them without issue, so I decided to give it a go. It arrived in good condition, double-boxed, with the outer box sealed with opaque packing tape, and labels on top of that, and "sealed" wasn't just the edges, it's 100% coverage of the entire box surface.

Once I carefully cut one end of that open... The internal box and device were properly packed, no damage at all.

I opted to go large on storage and memory because you never know what you might repurpose a device for in future. Go big or go home. 32 gigs of memory and 1 Tb NVME.

It came with pfSense 2.7.0 pre-installed so I downloaded 2.7.2 from Netgate and installed that to the device off a USB stick. I'd just like to state that I miss the pre-UEFI bios days, but I got it working.

Took me all of a couple of hours to get it installed and the pfBlockerNG add-on configured and working. Testing it now, pretty pleased so far. :-)

The 2024 Democratic National Convention will feature speeches from President Joe Biden and two former living Democratic presidents.

Posted by: m at August 13, 2024 06:23 AM (64Zez)

73 (Continued from #64)

So now I just have a "few" things to do:
- Program all the MAC addresses + fixed DHCP addresses for all the devices on my network
- Figure out how to get vLANs (virtual LANs) up and running for three mostly-isolated network segments inside the network (Trusted workstations, mobile devices, and IoT devices)
- Figure out how to get those vLANs to properly propagate through three wireless routers, two running as access points, one is a workstation/client. I have extra TP-Link C7's I can use for experimenting so I don't have to disturb the existing production ones in the home and can leave the old routers + old firewall running while I get all this sorted out.
- Figure out how to get the extra scripts I had running on the old openSuSE based firewall dealt with. I might need to move those to a small device running on the inside of the network rather than have them on the firewall, they don't really belong there anyway. Still, means more work and experimentation.

Fun fun...
