Good Morning Kids. So, Tim Walz is a lying, crooked, inept, power-mad fraud. Is this really surprising? Look who selected him to be her running mate. Look at the party and political movemement that they are a part of.

The strategy of the Biden-Harris—er, make that the “Harris-Walz” campaign depends on people being dazzled by their theater of the absurd. Both candidates claim now to believe things they have spent the last decades attacking. But their supposed conversion is not the result of any heavenly illumination. It’s not like Saul falling to the ground on the road to Damascus. Rather, it is an abracadabra sort of conversion, i.e., no conversion at all, merely subterfuge. It’s an elaborate show we are being treated to, replete with fake polls showing Harris-Walz ahead in some swing states. . .
. . . Already, the façade is cracking as more and more devastating videos come to light about both candidates. The ridicule machine of Trump and his allies is only getting cranked up. More, much more, will be coming to an internet search near you.
As I say, this show is scheduled to run at least until November 5, maybe longer, depending on how much election fraud the Democrats are allowed to indulge in. But there will be occasional intermissions during which the deciding question will be pressed upon all of us theatergoers. Is this campaign about mood and emotion—is it, I mean, essentially a female campaign? Or is it a matter of competing policies, of things like peace, prosperity, individual liberty, and economic competitiveness?
I am betting that, when the Chardonnay is gone and paper masks no longer fit, every robust voter will decide that he wants to live in the real world of common sense, not the hot-house world of woke theatrics and socialist nostrums. In other words, I predict that Mencken’s diminishing wager about the American public will, at least in this one instance, turn out to be dead wrong.

I like and respect Roger Kimball, but I fear he may be wrong. Regardless of polling and the seeming displeasure of the Democrat base with they way Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants was ousted as well as the seeming revulsion at the overt anti-Semitism of the party not just vis a vis it's anti-israel rhetoric but the looking the other way at assaults on Jews across the country.

I had a rather sobering conversation with a dear friend of mine who asked what I thought Trump's chances were this time around. I really couldn't say. And here is a man who put his two kids through Columbia university over 15 years ago now. Sadly, while they aren't insane radical lefties, they are liberal and even back then had to endure the brainwashing in order to graduate. Despite being revolted by their alma mater's descent into Nuremberg on the Upper West Side, their overall worldview remains tainted by their time on campus, despite their parents' being on our side of things.

At the end of our chat, as we looked at our world going up in flames, he just sighed and stated "it's their world now." It's deeply depressing to consider what we and future generations are going to have to endure before any kind of change can happen, if it can happen.

The best I can say is have faith and do what you can to maintain your sanity and perhaps make those around you at least start to see the light. Especially the children.

Maybe? The problem with borderlands is that it’s a looter-shooter (get new, better gun to kill the bad guys faster, so that they will drop a new better gun - rinse and repeat).

In the game, there’s something of a story, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who actually about the world in general.

I think it's more than likely there are more Democrats pumping money into these polls. It would seem likely they'd gaslight the public into thinking she's winning.

She won gold on the track in a middle distance race (5K or 1500m forgot which), then turned around just a few days later and won the women’s marathon in Olympic record time… on a very challenging hilly course. I know nothing about this lady but that is one impressive athletic accomplishment!

When I went to get my license renewed they had signs everywhere including on the papers they give you that if you don't have every form of ID they want they'll tell you to get lost.

However...they also had signs, and an incessant clip on their sound system, saying if you were an undocumented worker they'd take whatever papers you did or did not have.

How about we STOP doing that? And arrest illegals both for trying to get a license and driving without one.

Someone ran the numbers and pointed out the school system in the town has about 1/3 less student over 10 years ago and even without the tax increase a larger budget and asked "why do you need more money with less kids".

And...between that and pensions that is certainly a big problem in the government. They are horribly bloated at every level because people love to get government jobs.

It was mentioned a week or so ago, but there are other schools that have perfected it (Clemson is famous for it) but there are still rules to follow. Their problem was going outside of that and then putting up big flashing neon signs advertising what you're doing and then openly trolling people who were against cheating.

Between that and NIL college football went downhill FAST.

You get collapsing infrastructure and the worst "schools" in the land in big time blue states, not red states. California has crumbling roads, tinderbox power systems, schools operating as groomer central casting, terrible land management, etc. and cripplingly high taxes to pay for all of it. It's all bullshit anyway. ID is not required for travel, and the laws are unconstitutional. It's why, if you refuse and fight them, you will *eventually* win. TSA doesn't have a leg to stand on and knows it. But they also know that their enforcement of those laws will have no negative consequence for them and will absolutely cause you to miss your flight. You will win eventually, but you won't be made whole and you'll miss your flight and be out the money.

I wouldn't downplay that. I don't agree with those people, but I understand their reasoning. Because it's not a toddler tantrum they're worried about. It's a big boy tantrum they're afraid of.

Because there is always the implicit threat hanging over every election: "give in and let us have our way, because if you don't, we will put your cities to the torch again, crash the economy on purpose, and maybe even gin up another plague."

Airports and boarding airplanes, like ships or trains, are treated as special places by the Supreme Court under 4th Amendment analysis due to risks for other passengers. That is why they can grope and xray you for the benefit of everyone.

Borders, even more so if you are a citizen or legally here. Not so if you are illegally entering.

So, a Real Id is not unconstitutional to travel by common carriers like planes. Scotus uses a balancing test for violations of the 4th Amendment instead of something like strict scrutiny and specifically flips the probable cause analysis for areas that are 'highly sensitive': prisons, courtrooms/courthouses, government buildings--even parking lots (see Post Office and firearm cases), and so on.

Basically, if you choose to take a ride on a common carrier, then they can essentially instigate a Terry stop on you.

Inflammatory arthritis chooses when it flares and when it does, it often feels like a bad case of the flu. In my case, arthritis is particularly acute in hands, wrists, and elbows along with my spine. So, when it is bad, I cannot sit, type, or comment much without a lot of pain.

Recent forced medication changes due to insurance have made things difficult for me since March and I have had frequent flares since then and my doc is trying to get approval to increase my dosage (one of those damn expensive drugs you see on TV ads) to reduce those flares.

That is an overstatement; specifically, for any federal election, Congress has the right and power to force states to comply for voting in those federal races---states are then allowed to do time, place, and manner within those laws.

The 15th Amendment and the subsequent Voting Rights Act of 1965 (as amended) limit the power of states on voting practices that discriminate by race, ethnicity, etc. regarding voting.

In the case of planes, they are essentially large weapons capable of causing massive casualties of fellow travelers as well as a lot of people on the ground. So, gubmint gets more power to regulate and that has been a historical practice on every form of common carrier from ships, to railroads, and now to trains.

Even being in a personal cars is treated differently under the 4th Amendment than a person being in their own home. One is that the state is allowed to require people to be minimally competent to drive, carry insurance, maintain traffic laws etc. under its own policing powers. The ability to carry contraband or flee from police introduces another wrinkle in 4th amendment analysis that tilts toward the state's interests and against individuals in private car cases.

Gout is a horrible disease but glad you have adequate treatment.

In my case, I can either knock myself out with painkilling drugs, use cortisone for temporary relief, or simply suffer and wait it out. Tried the first two which have other complications, especially over time, so I do the third option which requires I stop doing anything when I get a flare.

The Arizona cases involving voting is an interesting one. The 9th Circuit has held that asking people for proof of citizenship is de facto racial profiling and it has an adverse impact (using disparate effect analysis) on minorities voting or not.

So you get a weird bifurcation where it is not okay to verify citizenship on federal ballots but okay for state elections. Two 9th Circuit panels cannot even agree on that by first allowing citizenship questions and then forbidding it.

Ideally, Scotus should stamp on it now but funny enough, they are on summer break.

In my case, I can either knock myself out with painkilling drugs, use cortisone for temporary relief, or simply suffer and wait it out. Tried the first two which have other complications, especially over time, so I do the third option which requires I stop doing anything when I get a flare.

If you have flare ups I'd check a list of inflammatory foods and see if it's something in your diet you can lose. Try to lose bread for instance, or cut way back.

The trigger in this case is weather and barometric pressure rather than foods. Changes in barometric pressure affect the joints that are now bone on bone in most of my joints. Cold/hot weather are both triggers and going from cold to hot and hot to cold transitions make the pain worse.

Had all sorts of blood tests, trial and error, etc. and I am simply not sensitive to foods regarding arthritis. Since about 2020, rarely eat out and follow specified diets from medical dietitians at home.

Ugh. That sucks. I only had the weather/pressure issue once in my life after I smashed some toes to pulp. I could predict the weather for a month or so. Eventually it went away.
