Who am I kidding? Absolutely try this at home. This is awesome. Also... I've stumbled into an entire subculture of anime girls reacting to cool military technology, from the AK-50 - exactly what it sounds like, a one-off AK-47-inspired rifle chambered in .50 BMG - to nuclear weapons test mishaps. Disclaimer: Nothing exploded so far, which is definitely a good sign. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

There is a whole cottage industry of text "journalism" that reports on the demise of everything owned by Elon Musk, including X versus Threads, every time he says or does something that's offensive to the blue haired Communists. Making the Olympics a TMZ marathon has no sports fan appeal. The problem is, you are not a god. The original "Olympics" in Athens were men who competed to be held in esteem among the myriad of gods (demons) they worshiped. Often there were no spectators at all. What you are interested in was happening down the street and involved bread, circuses, gladiators, Christians and wild animals. "Dismissing unacceptable behavior of others as a 'neurodivergent' trait, which is problematic because it creates a stereotype that neurodivergent people are hard to interact with and need special treatment. That is exactly why HR gets away with asking if a candidate is "neurodivergent" because by definition they are hard to interact with and need special treatment. If the neurodivergent subject was not hard to interact with nor needed special treatment, then no one else would need to know the neurodivergent needs special treatment and wouldn't have to identify up front (unless its for government sanctioned favoritism) Posted by: Unknown Drip Under Pressure at August 10, 2024 08:15 AM (hgW0U) 164

That article hints at why none of the X killers aren’t working: there’s half a dozen of them and more popping up all the time. Mrs. Cop and I attended the Fatima USA Mass at Maria Stein (Ohio) last night. Hundreds of Catholics gathered to celebrate an outdoor Mass. There were about 20 priests and deacons, and about 30 acolytes.
The celebrant, Father Nathan Cromly, celebrated Mass ad orientum (i.e., facing the East to offer the sacrifice to God, rather than facing the congregation) and spoke most of it in Latin. His homily was pretty fiery, and boiled down to: don't let the secular world make you afraid, trust in Jesus, and bring His message of love and salvation to the pagans. Then we prayed to Rosary. Lots of traditional hymns and a procession of the Blessed Virgin. I'm sure it made the Modernists unhappy! Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at August 10, 2024 08:34 AM (pJWtt) 192

=== Sounds awesome. b"h Posted by: San Franspycho at August 10, 2024 08:35 AM (JvZF+) It was a great Mass. It's the second time we've attended. Next year is scheduled for August 8, 2025, I believe. "Fatima USA" is at a retreat center located next door to the former Mother-house of the Sisters of Precious Blood (it's now a museum). Located at Maria Stein, it's a rural part of Ohio that is very Catholic. Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at August 10, 2024 08:40 AM (pJWtt) 200
>>I get the stupidest stories link from the Bing news feed. The last one said- "Trump losing support from all demographics including white men," I'm convinced that someone just plugs fake headlines into Chat GPT or something which then writes a story to depress Trump supporters,
Depressing Trump supporters is exactly what they are trying to do. Make it seem that Kamala is super popular and demoralize Trump supporters. It's part of the election rigging process. Don't fall for it. Trump is winning and I expect his lead will only grow once the ad wars start, the debates happen and we hit Labor Day when people start getting serious about the election. Trump got more legal votes than any sitting president in history 4 years ago and his support has only grown. Kamala was the least popular VP in history and she's dumber than a post. She is not popular. Ignore the lies and keep on target. Posted by: JackStraw at August 10, 2024 08:40 AM (LkLld) 201

Posted by: grammie winger - cheesehead at August 10, 2024 08:39 AM (SfhV1) His homily was a bit long: he spoke for about 45 minutes. However, he was passionate and basically was telling the laity "Don't be pu$$ies" (OK, I'm paraphrasing a bit) and have the courage to fight evil. I think the Holy Spirit was guiding him. We have great priests at my home parish, but the typical homily lasts about 20 minutes. Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at August 10, 2024 08:43 AM (pJWtt) 204

There is a growing recognition by the younger priests (Fr. Cromly appeared to be in his 40's) that Mass needs to be celebrated ad orientum. Where they can, they do; where they can't, they're jut waiting for the old Hippy priests to die-off. retired buckeye cop. Our pastor incorporates a bit of Latin in Masses offered during the week. It's nice to have the blend of English and Latin.
Our newest controversy in our church being used by the useful idiot to leave the parish is about the opening ceremony of the olympics. Father condemned it and now a couple families left for other parishes. Always amazed at what sets people off. If you believe it was innocent talk to Father about it, don't leave in a feigned huff. Debate over Latin is similar to debate over Hebrew prayer. Does vernacular make prayer more accessible? Less meaningful? More observant? Do I have to learn a whole new language in order to pray?

OH, since I'm not going to be able to post in timely manner of Book Thread tomorrow, Father Nathan Cromly has a book he recently written: Coached by Paul the Apostle.
I bought a copy, and a brief scan shows that it is a worthwhile book. Basically, how to take a leadership role in society based upon St. Paul's epistles. Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at August 10, 2024 08:51 AM (pJWtt) 220
