Last time I went to the Statue of Liberty, 1989-90, you walked up inside Lady Liberty, no elevator. You gotta wanna go up to the crown; it's a climb not for the feint of heart. I couldn't do it today. One of my nephews crapped out about a 1/4 of the way up. Left him there and told him me and his brother would pick up going down. Life was simpler then.

I used to know a guy that lost a leg in an car accident as a child. As an adult, he enjoyed going to haunted house attractions during Halloween season. When the "chainsaw-wielding manic" would appear he'd scream, kick off his prosthetic leg, and flop around on the ground and completely traumatize the haunted house character.

Absolutely. You take I forget how long to huff and puff up all those flights of stairs to get maybe a minute look from the windows. It was crazy, so much time climbing getting there and so little time spent there. The line just kept moving.
Better value are the Empire State Building and the {wipes tear} old World Trade Center. Loved the view from the catwalk that was on on top of the Tower.
The nicest thing about the Statue of Liberty was the short ferry ride from The Battery.

Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone are well worth it, of course. Also agreed on Hot Springs, Great Smoky Mountains, and Jackson Square if you expand it to include the French Quarter in general.
Walt Disney World was very enjoyable, but there's so much in Florida I don't know that I'd call it "top". As for Central Park: eh, it's fine, but there's other major city parks that are as good or better.

Anyway during the day we rented one of those peddle boats on a nearby lake and soon after we got in the peddle system broke down, .The vendor guy towed us back in and we got another. Later that night we went to a restaurant next to the lake and we are having dinner outside and noticed some kids had taken a couple of peddle boats from the closed vendor . About 15 minutes later we hear one of the kids yelling from the middle of the lake that his boat had broken and he couldn't move. My father had a hardy laugh.
That's my my main memory of my trip to the Alamo.

and FISH training. The state of Oregon Department of Human Services had FISH training where they used shots of Pike Place fish throwing, and gave out goldfish crackers and told everyone taking the training that you should be happy in your job even if it sucked, and we should work together
It was a mandatory training until it came out that it was developed and marketed by a close buddy of the Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services, and then after the investigation where it was decided it was an honest mistake, it was reclassified as a voluntary training instead.

It was horribly claustrophobic once you got up aways, going round and round, and no way to get down once you started other than to go all the way up, and get on the intertwined spiral going down.
It was fascinating to see her from the inside, the folds of her robe etc, and getting to the upraised arm and seeing that tiny little landing, with the LADDER going up into the dark--I couldn't imagine the women in the 1890s climbing to the torch in a corset, long skirt, hat, and heeled shoes (which may have been a boon on that metal ladder in the dark).
I am glad that I went though--worth it!

My mom and I went to the island (her parents immigrated through NYC, arriving by boat), and she had already gone up on a previous visit, so she declined to join me.
I was freaking out in the dim heat, round and round, and stopped to let some others below catch up so I'd have someone to walk with.
My daughter couldn't get a reservation when she went to NYC pre-lockdown (months in advance necessary, unless you want to gamble on a no-show), but it's on her list.

Thank you as always. You can see it was 'weighing' on my mind. Safety issue makes the matter obvious. My late b-i-l had quite the armory - even here in California - and did his own reloading. He had a little press and weight scales, etc.

I ordered some cheapo hearing aids from am*zon. $200. They have 2 settings (I can't tell the difference between them) and individual volume controls. Over-the-ear, but not uncomfortable. Built-in, rechargeable batteries & came with recharging base..
They're better than nothing.
Background noises are amplified too, so they're nearly useless in loud environments or near machinery of any kind.

She has xy chromosomes, but those with disorders of sexual development can present with genitalia that may not match the chromosomes. What used to be called a hermaphrodite would fall into this category.
Agree she shouldn’t compete against a woman. She is biologically a male with questionable genitals who has been raised a female her whole life. She isn’t trans.

I'm not here to judge, in this case. I don't know all the facts, or any of them, for that matter, other than we are told by yhe IBA that DNA testing was done, and this person has xy chromosomes, and is male. The person could have 100 percent t male genitalia, for all I know.
I'm just saying that if I had a baby that was born without any sign of a penis or testes, I would assume it was a girl. I would go so far as to say that I think it would be easier to raise a girl without a vagina than a boy without penis.
I have no idea what the situation here is, just that I don't think it's what we've been seeing lately, where Joe decides he's Josephine one day. And I could be absolutely wrong. It is certainly telling that he won't release his medical information.

This could all be done via the Internet. Log into a Website; it plays a range of sounds of different frequencies. You use your mouse to move sliders on a graphic equalizer until you can just barely hear the sound at each frequency channel. Once done, those sliders define a response curve (could be done for each ear, too). Manufacturer takes curves, spits out a pair of aids with complementary amplification curves.

Yes there are reloading manuals out there, but they are suggestions and you should gradually and carefully "work up" to said recipes.
To post such info is generally considered bad form and unsafe.
This is why probably why Weasel asked him not to post such details.
Someone who reloads SHOULD understand such things.

I have a bit of tinnitus, I hear OK in a quiet environment, but have trouble understanding speech if there's a lot of background noise. I wonder if a pair of those would help?
My wife accuses me of being deaf, but she's the one who cranks the TV volume up until it rattles the windows.

There was a fellow around here, good ol' guy of my father's generation. He was in WWII and a demolition/explosives engineer with the Army. Knew that kind of stuff well. He became a machinist and had his own local machine shop. He did well.
Guns and all that were one of his passions. Even he fucked up one time with a reload, and would tell the story. I forget but he misread a line in a table, and way overloaded some cartridges.
We he fired it, he immediately knew he'd fucked up. And big time. He explained what saved him and prevented it from blowing up his face was this gun, a revolver had a heavier frame that it really needed. I want to say it was .38 vs .357. Something like that that.
Anyway, upon inspection it had cracked the cylinder a bit he discovered.

Sounds like my situation, absent the wife. Tinnitus, not real bad, but ever-present. Can hear OK in quiet environments, but lose conversations in noisy places like bars and crowds.
I live in the country. Went outside with aids in, and heard...absolutely nothing. As it should be.

BillyD-- this is my situation. The cheapos amplify *everything* including all the background noise, so IMO make it worse in noisy environments. YMMV, of course, so worth a try and you won't be out too much on the cheapos.

ONe thing these little amps should do, is limit the max output level. I would not consider using them in the place of proper ear protection for shooting, but I doubt they would amplify a pistol shot to a cannon shot.

We'd start out with the weight used on a previous run, but always ALWAYS would run a small test batch & have it shot-- to measure pressure & velocity &etc (If not within specifications, adjustments would be made and testing repeated, until it met spec's) -- BEFORE continuing the run.

Re the popping/pinging sound of the lids sealing. About 5 of them made that sound. The others just sort of slowly go concave and seal without making a sound.
I don't think I've ever had a batch where all of them made that pop sound.
