Interesting. But maybe it is not the sex, it is the spouse, or significant other. Or just that those that have regular sex have other things related to that, that are favorable to long live? I mean, those having sex, have a fairly stable lifestyle, and those not having sex are alone and/or isolated, under stress. Posted by: illiniwek at August 10, 2024 10:43 PM (Cus5s) 110

Its a full court press..headline on Drudge-Trump Calls Her A Bi..h...click and its a NYT story claiming unnamed Trump.advisors say he said that in private. Then says unnamed advisors are worried Trump may display his misogyny in public. Then 3 or 4 paragraphs in the official Trump spokesman denies it and says Trump would never say anything like that. Meanwhile supposedly people everywhere suddenly are just nuts about her although she has never been popular, nothing good has happened that they could even give her credit for, and she's said nothing of any import. My high school class has a page on face book. It got to the point when I saw a notification in my email I stopped looking. I was in the hospital for 8 days earlier this year. A good friend from school that I hung around with went into hospice just as I got into the hospital, and was dead by the time I got out, and another from that group died 2 weeks later. We seem to lose a few every year. I have a reunion in 2 weeks. Part of me is not looking forward to that because they always have an absent friends list.
Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. The classes from the 60's, 70's, and some from the 80's make up most of the memorial page. One that shocked me was a young lady that seemed to have a hugely bright future. AP classes, all kinds of awards, many extra-curriculars and popular. passed in 2001. She was in her 20's. Major WTF there. Posted by: Erebus- ex-Killer Whale at August 10, 2024 11:29 PM (1iDhD) 217

Harris used to worry about laughing. Now joy is fueling her campaign," said the Times.
"Harris and Walz seize on joyful message in contrast to darker Trump themes," wrote WaPo. MSNBC ran a chyron: "The joy surrounding the Harris-Walz ticket." Day Four or Five in on my Harris/Walz campaign documentary, Cackle Creature: The Ascent of a Fell Beast. Possibly six or more; I began drinking heavily on Day Two. For those who asked, yes, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez finally succeeded in removing the bucket in which her head had been confined, with the help of myself and most of the press crew. She now plagues me with questions about where the MAGA people are purchasing all of those upside-down flags. I told her it was Mike Lindell, to obtain a moment of peace. Governor Walz remains elusive, constantly drafting press releases on her service at Agincourt, Fort Zinderneur, and a really intense Black Friday sale that left him with PTSD. Kamala's joy is not as the press characterizes it, or that perhaps even could be described. My attempt to interview her was met with an ear-bending cackle-fest and a request that I help Mama find her medicine. 1/ Posted by: Werner Herzog Checks In at August 10, 2024 11:51 PM (tmPIh) 247

One of my thoughts is that when after WW2 the intel.types imported all the Nazi functionaries who weren't famous, supposedly for.help against the Soviets, they took very careful notes. Since then they have been modifying fascism for.local conditions.. The details that appealed to Germans and Italians wouldn't work here. Or maybe the Mafia took over, working with the intel.types. Changed names, lost the colorful Sicilian image, left the dumber ones in place to "arrest and fatally weaken the Mafia", and pushed the Godfather saga to mainstream knowledge. Remember, the basic theme is that Michael is the best Mafioso of all time, and he tries.and tries but just can't go legit. The last 20 years has made it that I don't rule out anything cause conventionally it seems ridiculous. I have no.idea..

A weeping Alexandra Ocasio has disturbed Werner's drunken stupor and the initial phase of digging his escape tunnel. What is it, Sandy (she tells us to call her that) I queried. Vern, she says (yes, she says that like so many others), Mama Harris has ascended a nearby evergreen, having been told by a mischievous Hunter S. Thompson that he was sure someone left a bottle of Lancer's up there.
I rubbed my bleary eyes. Does no one here except for me know that Thompson is long deceased? Following the directions of the spectral voices leaves you in a Poltergeist situation, only to be saved by a dwarf psychic. Avert your eyes, weeping Squad equipment manager, I intoned. It just pisses me off. And I never served. But I do appreciate the bikers who form corteges just because. My next door neighbor, a Nam vet, died 7 years ago. Some of his stories . . . . So, I had to work on one of my cars today, a Studebaker
Avanti with a Brand X power train. (Chevy 283, and turbo 350 transmission) The starter was giving trouble; it would start cranking slow, and then slowly come up to speed, and the engine would start. Until a couple of days ago, when it didn't. Needed a boost to start up. And the battery is fully charged and in A-1 shape. So, I put it on the hoist this afternoon, took the starter out. It was a mini gear reduction starter, made by Dixie Electric, and was all soaked with oil. Found another starter that came out of a '98 Chevy 3/4 ton with a 350. Another Dixie Electric starter, same part number! Cleaned it up, put it in the car, and it starts like a brand new car. Guess I will try to get an overhaul kit for the bad one. The "safety features" on these riding lawn mowers are getting ridiculous. It's all about "marginal" improvement in safety. At some point, the extra cost in terms of money and actual usability greatly exceed the marginal improvement in safety. My latest has a anti-reverse behavior by default. If the blade is engaged, backing up will kill the engine. But they realized that would be unusable, so the ignition switch has a "backup" override position, allowing you tor reverse. That's your government at work. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 11, 2024 02:25 AM (w6EFb) 456

I can't stress how impressive the Raptor engine is. It's a full-flow staged combustion (gas-gas) engine. The Raptor is the only such engine that has every flown. There have been other attempts that have reached the static test firing, but Space Daddy's is the first to actually fly. Full flow staged combustion is hard. Very efficient, but hard to do. The F1 engine on the Saturn V 1st stage (S-IC) was only 55,000 HP. That was an inefficient "open cycle" gas generator. You diverted a little fuel and oxidizer to run a fuel rich combustion which drove a turbine which drove the LOX and kerosene fuel pumps. This was wasteful, as that didn't add to the thrust. BTW, above, I meant the gas generator turbopump HP was "only" 55 kHP. The HP of the engine itself, well that is YUGE. That's sort of hard to quantify with a rocket. Me, I like kinetic energy spewed out the nozzle. I forget what it was for the F-1s, but it was YUGE. What matters is thrust. If you're wondering why I'm so impressed with Space Daddy's full flow stage combustion Raptors, here's the gist: With such a liquid fueled rocket, you've got this. You have cryogenic fuel and oxidizer in tanks. Your "turbopumps" pump that liquid into the combustion chamber at some god-awful rate, burn them, and produce the massive thrust required to send a payload into orbit and beyond. I mean, it's a ridiculous rate, and you do that without blowing up into smithereenies. Now, Space Daddy's raptors do this as follows. The fuel pump is a fuel rich gas generator. You squirt a little oxidizer into the main fuel flow, burn it, and dump the output into the main chamber. On the oxidizer (LOX) side, you squirt a little fuel into that flow, burn that, and dump the output into the chamber. Now, the oxidizer rich side of that is impressive, a little fuel into the main oxidizer flow. That's hard to do. Very corrosive, etc. So, what this full flow design does is take the god-awful flow of fuel and LOX, and completely "gasify" (I hate that word, but that's what they call it). So some god-awful mass flow rate of liquid propellants gets fully gassified and dumped into the combustion chamber, at ridiculous pressures. This makes for very efficient rocket engines. Big thrust per input, very little wasted. But's also very hard to do without blowing the whole thing to smithereenies. Space Daddy has done it. Another thing about the Raptor. It uses "deep cooled" or subcooled cyro propellants. Rather than, as normal, you have LOX and the fuel at about their boiling point, you cool them down further to nearly their freezing point. The LOX and methane go in the tanks at near their freezing points. This makes for greater density. Doing this adds to the complexity and difficulty, but makes things even more efficient. The Raptor is a damned impressive engine. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 11, 2024 03:39 AM (w6EFb) 504
