Top Story

Lots of juicy details from that Google antitrust ruling. (The Verge)

Google pays device makers enormous amounts of money to direct search requests to them. 20% of Apple's profits come directly from Google.

Estimates from the two companies suggest that it would cost Apple $20 billion in development costs and $6 billion per year in operating expenses to replace Google Search with its own platform, and when Google is paying you $20 billion a year not to do that the decision is pretty simple.

The only problem is that if you are deemed to have a monopoly - which doesn't necessarily mean an absolute monopoly - this is illegal.

Exactly what will happen is still anyone's guess, but Google has few friends on either side of the political aisle. Deemed insufficiently woke for the Democrats, the company has burned every imaginable bridge on the conservative side, many of them twice.

The story I saw was that Boeing had not written the software for landing at the time the thing launched. Which is stunning if true.

They need to just get that piece of junk off ISS and send up a Crew Dragon post haste. I suspect the only reason they haven’t is it would piss off the Dem base because Elon is Space Hitler.

53 Boeing deleted the programming that would allow the craft to return to earth by itself, and I would guess to allow it to be remotely piloted. It has to have crew aboard or it does a Major Tom. Still unsafe for the astronauts because of leaks and electrical issues, so if they undock it, with no control, Boeing loses their very expensive tin can and it becomes the wayward shopping cart in the parking lot, possibly bumbling right back into the station.

92 Still trying to understand Florida summer weather besides just hot and swampy. Post hurricane Debbie where we got drenched but nothing major the heat and humidity have been jacked up. Last year Idalia took a very similar path but left us with cooler dry air for a few days.

I can have a conversation in my house on my iphone with a friend and the very next day there is advertisements on both of our phones on varies subjects we talked about. This happens more times than not anymore. This tech companies want every device and everyone's lives controlled by them. G and A have reached their apex and I hope the sword that cut them off at the knees is swift and painful.

I'm not sure what motivation Mrs. Emhoff had for picking Walz - or, most likely, having him picked for her - except perhaps availability. He's a hard leftist, a pasty white male, comes from a state that's going D anyway and has a dodgy past.
