Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Gun Thread: First August Edition!![]() FUNdamentals Q: Weasel, are you ever going to shut up about fundamentals? A: No. No I am not, because practicing good fundamentals is the path to shooting enlightenment. Think I am kidding? Do you not want to be on the path to shooting enlightenment? Do you think I just harp on fundamentals to fill up space here on the thread? Well, maybe a little of that, but also because practicing fundamentals really works. As a matter of fact, I believe it is the only thing that works. Is there any possible way that focusing on fundamentals could make you worse? You people are really beginning to piss me off by not practicing fundamentals. By not having a training plan, and I'm not talking about some big complicated thing here, all you are likely doing is randomly reinforcing bad habits. In order to reinforce good habits, you need focus, repetition, and a way to measure results. I know this is true because it worked for me and I have seen it work for many others. There are arguably a lot of things to keep in mind at first, but the sooner you start focusing on them in a logical and methodical manner, the sooner muscle memory takes over and they become second nature. So remember; stance, grip, sight alignment and trigger mechanics. You can concentrate on the smaller component elements to each of these four, but every single time you fire a round you should be focusing on some element of fundamental marksmanship. At the end of a range session, reserve a clean target and some ammo to fire a test series. Take notes on the target with the date and any other remarks you think relevant, but particularly what you were focusing on and what you think may have gone right and wrong. Measure your progress! Have a bad day at the range? Wondering why you took up the sport to begin with? Let me share a little-known secret; everybody has a bad day at the range from time to time, and I mean everybody. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't have much credibility in my book. When you can't seem to do anything right and the range babes are beginning to notice, STOP what you are doing. Let me repeat that. If what you are doing is not working, stop and try something else. In all my years spent shooting, I have never once seen a shooter improve a bad result by executing poor fundamentals harder or faster. Stop and evaluate what is going on. Put your aggravation or embarrassment aside, analyze what you are doing and re-focus your thoughts. Take a break if you need to. Without firing, mentally walk through the fundamental elements of stance, grip, sight alignment and trigger mechanics. I absolutely guarantee you the problem is in there somewhere. Next week: FUNdamentals! Guns of Weasel Last Sunday I asked if anyone was familiar with the Kimber Micro 9 because I had just placed an order for one. A normal person does their research and seeks the opinions of others before buying, but where is the element of fun and surprise in that? No range report but I did start the process of acquiring a Sig Sauer 1911 XFull in .45. I mailed in the authorization form to the NYPD letting them know that I would like to get this firearm. Now the wait to see if they Yay or Nay. On the form they said it would take 6-8 weeks. It takes this long because they only issue purchase authorizations Monday thru Thursday between 9am and Noon. Do not know about you but that sounds like a lot of infringing. Will keep you posted. Posted by: Scuba_Dude at August 04, 2024 07:11 PM (0XVad) 16

For horde members that missed the gub content on the hobby thread yesterday:
In 1939, the U.S. War Department contracted the Singer Sewing Machine Company to build 500 1911A1s. The contract, Educational Order W-ORD-396, was a test to see if Singer could produce 100 guns a day, a number it thought was doable. The War Department got its handguns, serial number series S800001-S800500, but the company was unable to live up to the pace of 100 guns a day. The War Department realized Singers pistols were of such high quality that the company was qualified to do more important work, and that Singer's expert machines abilities would have been wasted on mere handguns. Washington put the Singer Company to work on aviation-related components that required precision machining, particularly navigation and targeting equipment. During the war, Singer produced components for the Sperry T-1 bomb sight, B-29 bomber gunfire control computers, directional gyro and artificial horizon instruments, and automatic pilot parts. sra blaster and I went to the range 2 more times this week because at the DMV MGC last Sunday she seemed to have lost her shooting mojo. So we went back to find out why she couldn't hit the target anymore. After a couple extra range visits we came up with wrist fatigue - she started out good but got gradually less good and the more she tried to fix it, the worse it got.
I think I'm going to have her hit the wrist weight room. Posted by: blaster - Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat at August 04, 2024 07:13 PM (V5dm6) Posted by: Sharon(willow's apprentice) at August 04, 2024 07:13 PM (t/2Uw) 22
We wanted to check out equipment while at the range. Maybe we needed new guns!
I had researched 2011s. I'm all about value priced firearms. The cheapest 2011 right now is a Girsan Witness 2311. Our range had one for rent. BLUF - it was crap. I had read a review where they said it had a 7 lb SA trigger. Yep. A heavy trigger on a 1911ish pistol. Had a few FTFs/stovepipes. A cheap dot. And it did not shoot well. And then I went to the other end of the spectrum - a Stealth Arms Platypus. All aluminum frame. A nice holosun dot on it. It shot very well. And then I looked at the magazine. It was a...Glock? Yes, this thing takes G17 mags! Putting a Glock mag into a 1911ish pistol felt...wrong. But also good! A lot of the mags for 2011s are proprietary or expensive or most likely both. Still - Glock mags in a 1911. Chills. Posted by: blaster - Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat at August 04, 2024 07:14 PM (V5dm6) 23

Why did I pre-write comments? Because I expected I would be on the road at this time. We were organic tree farming in Florida. Then we got seven of those Weather Alerts on our phones that said you should leave.
First thought was "ehh it's only a CAT 1 that's a little baby hurricane." And then as the messages kept coming and the voluntary evac order taking place at the time we were going to leave - we figured an early exit was in order. I broke my dry spell and went to the range. I bought the new S&W bodyguard 2.0 in .380 and had to take it out to shoot.
If you carry or shoot a .380 this is a gun you need to try out. You can't compare it to the original bodyguard that had a crappy trigger, horrible sights and a six round magazine, it is a completely different gun. The 2.0 comes with a 10 and a 12 round magazine and has a crisp trigger that breaks very nicely with a good reset. A decent front sight with a tritium insert and a longer sight radius make it way better than the original bodyguard. Couple that with a much nicer grip that I can actually wrap all of my fingers around and it is a winner. I put over 150 rounds through it using both HP's and ball ammo and had zero issues, it fed everything I had on hand. At 7 yards the majority of my shots went into a 6 inch circle. $450 retail and well worth the price IMO. Posted by: Mister Scott (Formerly GWS) at August 04, 2024 07:17 PM (QNSds) 30
I think the reason people are paranoid about showing serial numbers is if they purchased off the record. If it is all documented through an FFL then I don’t understand why it would be a problem.

Hello gun thread!
It's timely that Weasel mentioned a bad day at the range. I didn't have one of those, quite, because I fired something I liked first. But then I shot my S&W 6904, and walked away grumpy and demoralized, because the targets sucked. I realized: I don't like it very much. It is too small for my hand and likes to poke at me during recoil. I need a new glasses prescription, because my current one does not focus properly any more on the iron sights, so I have lots of vertical deviation. At least my later targets were better than my earlier ones. I saw Ben Stoeger talk about how he is not picky about people's grips, as long as they do it the exact same way every time. That's not only because he has seen people succeed with wildly different approaches, but also because when he tries to correct people's grips in his classes, it messes them up every time. I can see why. It takes a while to get comfortable with any grip change. So I probably need to tune my grip on the S&W. But not liking it, and having other pistols I like a whole lot better, is kind of an impediment. Posted by: Splunge at August 04, 2024 07:19 PM (hmKaK) 36

If I had the money for lawyers I would contemplate a couple of lawsuits against NYC and NYS gun laws. But I don't. And in less than 5 years I am out of here. Maybe, just maybe as I am heading out the door I will send some emails to the NYPD telling them the firearms I am going to get without their permission but not let them know I am no longer a resident. :-) Posted by: Scuba_Dude at August 04, 2024 07:20 PM (0XVad) 37

Posted by: GWB at August 04, 2024 07:16 PM (AWrpC) What he says himself, and I think he's right in this, is that he's just a natural shooter. I doubt there are many of those, but that guy who became a GM after two years of shooting USPSA is another. He knew he would shoot well even before he had pulled a trigger, and decided he would try competition after he had easily established that he could shoot two inch groups at 75 yards (I might have the group size wrong). Evening all.
No range this week as usual but I worked on more of the refinish I'm doing on my Spanish Mauser, chambered in .308. Was used as a reenactor piece for a few years so I'm not going to shoot it. I have about 300 blank rounds for it though. I want it to be a nice looking wall hanger. Couldn't pass it up and a buddy needed some cash for Vegas. The .308 has me baffled. I need to dig into when this was done. I don't think it was re-chambered, I think it's factory. Posted by: Reforger at August 04, 2024 07:23 PM (xcIvR) 46

weasel we have a couple of Raptor IIs (because of course we do) on the full size 1911. The Raptor is from the Kimber Custom Shop and that differs from a Kimber custom and I am probably telling you something you already knew. But anyway, from the "Custom Shop" means its actually touched by Kimber gunsmiths who work some sort of magic on it. The 50% increase in the price from the regular Micro 9 to the Raptor is not just for marketing.

Posted by: Sharon(willow's apprentice) at August 04, 2024 07:23 PM I was watching Bloke on the Range do a video about this. They have to shoot one handed. And if you are shooting right handed you have to do something with your left hand so it is out of the way and not causing tension. Some will hook it in their belt or a coat pocket. The Turkish guy went with the cool factor and tucked it into his pants pocket. Posted by: Scuba_Dude at August 04, 2024 07:29 PM (0XVad) Posted by: Scuba_Dude at August 04, 2024 07:30 PM (0XVad) 57

Posted by: scampydog at August 04, 2024 07:23 PM People would be amazed at the number of random shipping containers that are floating around in the world's oceans. They break loose and fall off of ships sometimes and they do not stop to pick them up as they don't have the equipment to do that. In the Navy we would occasionally use them as targets and sink them if they were deemed a hazard to navigation. .50 cals sink them pretty quickly. Ooh ooh! Mr. Weasel, Mr. Weasel! Pick me pick me! I've finally been to the range! Thanks to you for ordering the Micro9, that motivated me to get off my duff and go shootin'. I don't have the Raptor though. Part I Mine shot ok. I've never shot a 9mm that small so I can't compare it to any others of similar size. I got the Kimber cuz I lurv me some 1911 style, and I wanted something carryable in single action. The muzzle lift wasn't bad, but the sight picture is definitely a lot smaller with this short of a barrel. My knowledge of Kimber before this purchase was by reputation only, and I was under the impression that these are top notch guns. Now that I've shot this...meh. Did their quality go down, or is this just a poor implementation of a good idea? On the plus side, I shot three different types of ammo, and they all performed well with the gun, no misfires, jams, etc... On the minus side, I thought that the trigger pull was kind of hard, especially for a single action. Also, I had problems inserting the magazines. Posted by: haffhowershower at August 04, 2024 07:31 PM (NMT5x) 61
Bad days at the range: If I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong within a magazine or two, I'll pack it in and come back another day after getting in some dry fires with snap caps or practice getting a good sight picture short of firing live ammo. If I'm firing rounds that run $1+ a shot, I'll pull the plug sooner.
Much of the time it's self inflicted, like shooting a pistol with blacked out front sights against a black silhouette so I can't make out the front sight against the target. Posted by: Ed L at August 04, 2024 07:31 PM (yRXSd) 62

Part Deux
The gun only came with one, and it was all metal and flush with the bottom of the grip. I purchased two other kinds, both Kimber brand, that had different plastic pieces on the bottom. One of them had extra capacity. Most of the time I had to push in the mag release in order to insert the mag. One time, the mag wasn't fully seated even though I thought it was. After the first shot, the magazine dropped down about an 1/8" or so. Yikes! I also thought the magazines were hard to load, as in putting bullets in them, but maybe that's because they are so short and the spring has to be pretty strong? I also shot two other pistols, so all in all it was time well spent. Damn, it feels good to be a shootah. Posted by: haffhowershower at August 04, 2024 07:32 PM (NMT5x) 67

While organic tree farming did some more scoping out (SWIDT?) of the area that I think will become the blaster acres shooting range.
I had found there is actually some change in elevation on the property - for coastal Florida that's a little unusual. I mean, its only 10 or 15 feet, but considering how flat the rest is, that's considerable. When I first saw it I thought well the rise is in the wrong direction - the higher area that I thought might be a backstop berm would require you to shoot where people are. Which is not idea. But as we walked it down there is a pretty significant length of this slight elevation. And it looks like it is better to shoot DOWN the hill (I know 10 or 15 feet calling it a hill is funny). Which puts it in the correct direction. Gonna need a forestry mulcher. weasel that would make a great video in one of the gun threads of the future. I like that Patton finished Fifth in the 1912 Olympics Pentathlon and probably would have medaled but he insisted on using his .38 instead of the .22 . He finished 21st in the shooting competition.

So, range report: Yesterday was KYL and 1,000 yard MOA. Both of which were won by me. Which isn't saying much because there were only two other competitors. However, as long as someone doesn't question me to closely, I've some dandy medals to show off.
Okay, truth be told, winning the KYL took a bit of shooting. The guy I beat out did a fine job with a total score of 34, I think it was. (I believe the max score is 51) I managed to pull a 46 with a handicap as my last two targets were only 2" wide. because the guy ahead of me destroyed the 4th target which was replaced with another 2" target. This meant I was shooting at a 2" wide target twice in row. The thousand yard portion, well, two rounds on target, out of 10, was aggravating but enough for a win. My fault, though, because I didn't bring enough of the right kind of ammo for that distance. Lesson learned. So I probably need to tune my grip on the S&W. But not liking it, and having other pistols I like a whole lot better, is kind of an impediment.
Posted by: Splunge I am familiar with that particular pistol and 3rd Generation Smiths in general. First, check to see if the grip actually fits your hand. Shooting a DA/SA requires using the power crease in your trigger finger joint--you do not use the pad of your trigger finger. So your grip on the pistol must match the power crease reach on the trigger while also keeping the bones in your forearm straight. Robertson's Trading Post (on ebay or they have their own website) have straighter grips that are a bit more narrow in circumference than the original Delrin Smith grips for this particular pistol. If you have big hands and your trigger finger sticks past the power crease--consider Hogue Grips for the 6906 as they beef them up and absorb recoil better. The War Department realized Singers pistols were of such high quality that the company was qualified to do more important work, and that Singer's expert machines abilities would have been wasted on mere handguns.
Posted by: TRex at August 04, 2024 07:13 PM (IQ6Gq) The Army did much the same thing in 1943 with Union Switch and Signal (US&S). The Ordinance Department rated US&S highly and commented favorably on the pistols they produced but ended up switching them over to making things like M1 Carbine parts, 4.2 inch mortar fuses, 20mm AP shells, and dial wheels for USN code machines. Singer's tooling didn't go to waste. Most of it ended up with Remington Rand, a typewriter manufacturer who would go on to make more M1911A1s than anyone else, even Colt. Speaking of bad days at the range . . .
I'm down at the farm for a few days, so I've had a range session three days in a row. The first day I stunk on ice with my EDC no matter what I tried. The next two days, spent diagnosing what I was doing wrong, were better. I think my major problem was recoil management (grip, mainly). I did much better controlling it with my Commander-sized 9mm than with the micro 9. I think I'll make the Commander Clone my EDC once cooler weather arrives. The .308 has me baffled. I need to dig into when this was done.
I don't think it was re-chambered, I think it's factory. Posted by: Reforger ======= It differs on those depending on whether the Army did it or it was done for the Guardia (a cross between our National Guard and State Police there). Guardia 1916 Mausers used old 7x57 barrels that were cut back at the chamber (aka requalified with new chambers cut, drilled out for the bigger 308 diameter and re-rifled. Something similar was done in several countries using the old 1893 or 1895 Mausers and conversions of the m98 pattern as well. Chile even used Springfield 1903 A3 barrels that were chopped, rethreaded, rechambered for their carbine 7.62 conversions. The Chilean long rifle conversions to 7.62 Nato are to be avoided as they used a sleeve in the chamber similar to the ill fated Navy 7.62 conversions of the Garand. While at our condo in SC this week, a new sign had been posted at the guard shack at the entrance to the property: "Concealable weapons not allowed". Huh? As soon as I drive into the entrance, I am in violation of something?
I found this interesting - both in it's legality and it's ambiguity. Are long boom sticks okay? Were the owners (us) of the condos asked or informed of this new rule? Did it comport to the rules of the Board, by being properly introduced and voted upon? After checking with a few local attorneys, I found the signage has kicked off a storm of cease and desist efforts by other owners along with other actions. We are now party to a few of those efforts against the Board. It's a mess but the key point is - the bastids are always trying to limit your rights. Be every vigilant. Interesting footnote to the Singer M1911A1 story: Harrington and Richardson (H&R), a known arms manufacturer, also got an "educational order" contract for 500 M1911A1. H&R was exiting Chapter 11 at the time and didn't get a good start like Singer did. Only 15 pistols were produced. The Army rejected all of them because they didn't have the right dimensions as specified in Army drawings. By the time the Army terminated the contract, it was early 1942. The Army gave what would have been H&R's orders to Colt instead, but it also meant that in the first year of WWII, not enough M1911A1s came off the production line to arm the rapidly growing US military. Singer 1911s are the Holy Grail of collectors, and command huge prices when they are found. Only 500 were made, and now only two thousand are known to exist (he said snarkily.)
Seriously, if someone uses the words "collector's item" regarding a firearm you're interested in, you should run, not walk, away from the deal. Especially if they hint you will be able to flip said item for a profit. Fakes abound out there, with lots of unscrupulous characters willing to take advantage. Now excuse me, I need to see a man about George A. Custer's personal 30-30 Winchester, which he left behind at camp on the way to the Little Big Horn. I honestly feel more comfortable shooting as a lefty, it feels natural to me, but I am trying to get more comfortable shooting righty. I think I'm going to switch over to an IWB holster though. I've got a positive lock OWB and I just feel like I'm printing super bad through my shirt. I did have one gun-related thing this week.
I managed to get my "rebate" stuff turned in for my extra cylinder (in .22 WMR) for my .22 revolver. I managed to get it all done on my phone... then they told me the receipt didn't have a date on it, so I needed one with the date. So, that was easy to do. And the next day I had a code to go on their website and purchase the cylinder for free. Though they told me it might take 8 to 10 weeks to process, it was about 20 hours from turning in the better receipt. I wonder if that "8-10 weeks" language is left over from the mail order days? If you choose 2), mark it w/ colored electricians' tape so you can tell it apart from the rest. Use it to train on your reload drills. But in line with the idea of supporting local brick and mortar stores. Someone this week was lamenting the lack of traditional tobacconists in his area. For folks in the northern Virginia area there is Old Virginia Tobacco Company with several branches. Great selection of cigars and pipe tobaccos, comfortable easy chairs to relax in and chat with folks who appreciate good tobacco, a coffee machine, and friendly staff. The one closest to me is more cigar than pipe oriented but still keeps a good variety of pipes and blends. Just FYI. Posted by: JTB at August 04, 2024 08:21 PM (zudum) 203

Any magazine with cracked feed lips (which hold the cartridges in place inside the magazine) at the top of the magazine MUST be either 1) discarded or 2) used only for training purposes. If you choose 2), mark it w/ colored electricians' tape so you can tell it apart from the rest. Use it to train on your reload drills. You won't feel bad about letting it hit the ground when you hit the magazine release.
Posted by: Ed L at August 04, 2024 08:18 PM (yRXSd) In this case, its the plastic surrounding the metal feedlips. The ones that are cracked let the feedlips spread slightly and allow the bullet to wobble left/right. So yeah, I guess they have to go. I meant to mention earlier that once I got my act somewhat sorted out at the range (FUNDAMENTALS!), I tried a couple of new (for me) drills that Ken Hackathorn espoused. One is the 9 in 9 drill: https://tinyurl.com/2thtxtza
I didn't even come close to 9 seconds - I even forgot to move back to my starting position for the last 3 rounds the first time I ran through it. But it's a fun drill, and I really like the idea of using 3X5" index cards as the target. I recommend giving it a try. Posted by: That SOB Van Owen at August 04, 2024 08:31 PM (YqfVr) 221

179 Thanks for the S&W info, whig!
Posted by: Splunge ===== No problem. DA/SA is not that popular of a firearm choice today and the S&W Third was purposely designed to have an initial trigger pull like a S&W revolver that many of the cops converted from. Any heavy trigger pull requires good grip fit. BTW, Robertson's Trading Post also has extended mags for the 6900 series that work well. You can even use 5900 series mags (up to 17 rounds if you get MecGar ones) in them but you need a mag adapter to cover the exposed mag below the grip. Some like shooting with them as you get more purchase on the grip than the shorter 6900 unmodified grip. Robertsons has those too. They are good folks and usually have quite a few S&W 3rd generations in stock along with parts. Posted by: whig at August 04, 2024 08:34 PM (qdbNv) 227

I would actually prefer OWB sometimes, but I can't bring myself to walk around with my shirt untucked, except for rare instances. And, no, I don't own any Hawaiian shirts that fit me. I have a PX4 Storm Compact (not the subcompact) and it is a fine pistol, easy to work on, but was never really that popular here. Has the unique rotating barrel lockup which makes them beefier than the drop block system but they have a bit less felt recoil because of it. Easy to convert to decocker only if you can only buy the DA/SA model and low profile carry parts are available.

Have not done any real shooting this week, but I did pay the range dudes to clean Jesse's model 1917 rifle. The one and only time I fired it, the spent brass would not eject. (It wasn't just poor technique on my part. Another experienced shooter had the same problem.) I didn't get to test it out because I had Mom with me when I picked it up and I'm not ready to fly solo with a rifle I've fired exactly once. Undecided on bringing this to TX. Posted by: mrp ==== It should do fine, adding some Talon adhesive grip adapters to teh factory one adds a bit of give and size to teh grip as well. But, the full size is not that much bigger than teh subcompact except for the length of the slide. The subcompact holds 15 and takes the full size mags in 9mm and the full size is 17 so there is not that much of a shorter grip on the compact. The subcompact is a dropping block design and not that popular except if you need a small one. The APX is probably better for that purpose anyway. Most of the reasons given sound like the same ones I've heard why .38 snubby revolvers may not be your best choice for CC. I don't have any micro-9s, but I think that my snub nose revolvers are significantly more difficult to shoot accurately, definitely produce more felt recoil, and are far less fun to shoot compared to larger revolvers in the same caliber.

The 1911 Syndicate has a video about the H&K Mark 23 where they do a shoot-off with a prototype Mark 23 with a slide lock and rectangular suppressor, a current production Mark 23 with a B&T suppressor, a Mark 23 with a KAC suppressor (as issued to SOCOM), and the same KAC can fired wet. Video sound can play tricks on you, but since everyone in the video doesn't have any hearing protection on, it can't be that loud. It certainly sounds very quiet for a pistol firing .45 ACP. These are good. I might have to have 2 or 3 more. I shot a few pellets today. From the pool. I've got a concrete block standing about 50' away with an empty peanut can in the top hole. Space Probe Taurus (1965)
Oh, goodie. Haven't had a cheesy SciFi flick in several weeks. Takes place in the far-off future of... 2000. Where everybody dresses and sounds like 1963. So retro. Starts with a narrator... in a medium that says show don't tell... so you know it'll be "good." Directed by Selznick, but not that Selznick. Stars James Brown, but not that James Brown. Starts off with a failed space mission - they blowed up real good - so it could have ended after five minutes, but we get a second mission. Plus the music... top notch stock sounds by Marlin Skiles. He was the musical director on Up in Smoke -- no, not the Cheech & Chong movie, the 1957 one with Huntz Hall and the Bowery Boys. Second mission has a gal crew member - so progressive. She's played by Francine York, who had a long career in lots of things like Wild, Wild West, Batman, Mister Ed, Hazel, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Green Acres... among many more. So far, I've watched as far as the second mission taking off. Might watch the rest sometime...! Posted by: mindful webworker - in the far-flung future at August 04, 2024 09:36 PM (tIWUF) 337

Sig's new version of the P225 (P6 for the Army in Germany) did not use the same mags and ProMags are generally horrible in any case. Posted by: GWB Shooting suppressed with subsonic heavy bullets, it is ok. But the Bushmaster 450 and the SoCom 458 might be better choices. The 450 Bushmaster uses 44 Magnum bullets of which there are quite a few hunting ones perfect for the velocity generated. The SoCom has the option of shooting subsonic. The Bushmaster ballistics resemble teh Marlin 444 and the SoCom is more like the old 45/70 in ballistics except shorter range and shorter barrel needed. Brass and factory ammo are available for both and they both fit in an AR15 package albeit with fairly stout recoil. Posted by: whig at August 04, 2024 09:55 PM (qdbNv) 365

heh https://tinyurl.com/mrempz8a I opened the link and scrolled down to see the sub-heading "This Time It's Different." Those are word that should set off alarms. It's just another way of saying "What can be... Unburdened by what has been." Posted by: Oddbob at August 04, 2024 10:08 PM (/y8xj) 375
"Does anyone have experience with the Beretta PX 4?"
I just bought one a couple months ago in 40 cal. I've put about 500 rounds through it. I had one failed ejection on the second mag but since then no issues. I've never shot anything other than 9 and 38 and 45 cal but the recoil seems to be low and manageable. The trigger pull is absolutely flat. Not that it's that important but I think it's a beautiful gun. It's the Italian way. The people at the range say it's a great gun. Posted by: pawn at August 05, 2024 01:45 AM (QB+5g) 376
It's a Compact and I have large hands. I would go with the full size if you weren't concerned with concealability.

Instead of SEH videos we should have videos from Weasel Acres stressing arcane topics like stance, grip, sight alignment and trigger mechanics

Posted by: pawn at August 05, 2024 01:49 AM (QB+5g) Thanks, Pawn. I haven't been able to find a PX4 in the local stores, so I haven't been able to hold one. Posted by: mrp at August 05, 2024 09:09 AM (rj6Yv) Processing 0.07, elapsed 0.0733 seconds. |
