So, John Ekdahl made a parody tweet this week, satirizing liberal cat ladies social media.
I was at a coffee shop this morning and the woman in front of me said to write “Kamala” on her cup. The woman behind me said “you go girl!”, then the whole line started clapping. An old man in a MAGA slammed down his muffin, yelled the N word and walked out. Definite vibe shift.

Thing is, a lot of folks, mainly boomer-types, didn't get that it was satire, and the tweet went viral and blew up. Click through and read some of the replies. They're hilarious. It even filtered down to the younger generation, who have started to meme it.

White people don’t exist.
The problem with any conversation about white people is that no such thing exists. White people are an abstract concept describing people who do not otherwise have a racial identity. If you have a racial identity, or an ethnicity or a cultural identity; you are not a white person. Racial identity, from Darwinism, to the obsession with pan-European superiority, the concept of ‘white’ people has always been flawed and always been built around establishing social dominance. Just another way for humans to try and control one another, and it was effective. The problem is that leftwing progressivism has never evolved beyond this particular time period in human history, favoring switching racial dominance over erasing the idea of ‘race’ altogether. In 2024, there is no such thing as a white person. Truthfully, white people went extinct more than half a century ago, with only a small number of local theater players attempting to recreate what they think being a white person used to be, here and there. In a 2021 article on ‘whiteness,’ the author notes in attempts at persuading white people to discuss their whiteness, “If they weren’t exactly clamouring to dispense with their racial identity, and the privileges that came with it, they were also not eager to embrace, or even discuss it, in public.” White people, for as long as I have been alive, 1982 — present, have long struggled with this above-stated challenge. What exactly is it about them they need to defend or explain or apologize for or repent over or embrace or denounce that makes them ‘white?’

The Heroic Age of Antarctic exploration is very interesting and quite chilling (heh).
The one guy you've to feel for is Robert Falcon Scott. He finally gets the the South Pole, thinking he's the first, and then sees Amundsen beat him to it by about a month. Then he dies on the way back.
Amundsen-Scott base at the South Pole is named after those two, of course.

Thanks so much for linking Sarah Hoyt’s recent post. She also has a hunch that Biden might just happen to die in October, just in time to gin up a sympathy vote for the new Grrlboss president. Deadpool And Wolverine
I am home. I got out of my apartment. I'm finally willing to admit I fucking hate going to the movie theater!
I have thoughts. Nothing deep.
This is the first Marvel Studios movie I've seen since the last Avengers movie five years ago.
I rewatched the first two before seeing this and its continuous diminishing returns. First one was best. Second was better than I remembered but still not nearly as good. This one mostly gets by on Hugh Jackman's and Ryan Reynolds' charisma. There's a story, sure, but it mostly feels like an excuse for a movie with nothing to say.
The reason the first movie was good was Morena Baccarin. Without her these movies are largely pointless. She gets less screen time in the third one than in the second one.
Shit tons of cameos with actors from other 20th Century Fox Marvel movies. That was actually kind of cool. Chris Evans even shows up but not as Captain America. There was one sequence that I enjoyed that was nothing but references to some of the comics. In particular, the cover of Uncanny X-Men that has Wolverine crucified on a giant X. I must admit, that was cool. But in other words, TONS of fan service./1

Worked with several Indian engineers and managers in the aerospace industry. All were immigrants. All were solid in their specialties. Their biggest "problem" early in their USA careers was learning that we don't have a "formal" caste system here (and they seemed to have enjoyed in in India).

Here's my take, for what it's worth: Kamalalal is not particularly bright. While she's not dumb, she isn't a hard enough worker to make up for her mediocre intelligence. So she found "shortcuts" to gain undeserved power and prestige like, her affair with Willie Brown (without him, she probably would be "of counsel" at someplace like Kelly Drye & Warren). She bent whatever remaining scruples she had left to the whims of the California democrat party and now has ridden that sell-out to a place where she simply cannot maintain the facade, even with the help of the all-in media. She will be exposed and embarrassed on an international stage ( yet tens of millions will still vote for her). I almost feel sorry for her.

Frozen in the ice for months, trek to an uninhabited island. Cross the worst oceans in the world to land on the back side of an island then do the first crossing to get to the sealing station on the other side. Incredible efforts and he didn't lose a single man OR the stowaway that came along.

Here's my take, for what it's worth: Kamalalal is not particularly bright. While she's not dumb, she isn't a hard enough worker to make up for her mediocre intelligence. So she found "shortcuts" to gain undeserved power and prestige like, her affair with Willie Brown (without him, she probably would be "of counsel" at someplace like Kelly Drye & Warren). She bent whatever remaining scruples she had left to the whims of the California democrat party and now has ridden that sell-out to a place where she simply cannot maintain the facade, even with the help of the all-in media. One of the local orchard owners keeps his pre-mixed saw gas in a one gallon spray rig, the type with the air pump and the cylindrical tank. He says it works great because you can get in to the saw and not dribble gas everywhere, and you can leave the tank at the end of the row all day and no one will steal it like they would a gas tank
He did say you needed a high quality one because the cheap brands like Chapin had O rings that would swell with the gasoline and 2-stroke oil.

Shackleton, Scott, and Amundsen were exceptional leaders. The privations and sufferings of the early South Pole expedition teams are almost beyond belief. I grew up in South Dakota so I know a little about cold weather. I don't believe I could ever have withstood what the members of those expeditions did. Shackleton's book is great, so is Scott's diary, and I also highly recommend reading "The Worst Journey In the World," by Apsley Cherry-Garrard. He was a junior officer in Scott's polar attempt. Scott and four others of that expedition lost their lives on their return journey from the Pole, after sadly reaching it a month later than Amundsen did.

Ha, old tractor can handle the slope, done it many times every summer. Have to go in and come out easy. Holding on is the biggest problem, sit and hold on to the the high side fender, come out too high and the wheels spin.
But yeah, that slope is definitely too much for the SS.

Making baba ganoush tonight was kind of a bigger pain in the ass than I imagined. I think a better strainer might make it a lot easier. And a smaller silicone spatula.

I did the whole thing with a crappy spatula and a fork for the eggplant and a table knife to mix the tahini. It took forever.
I can't believe I didn't think of the damn Cuisinart.

Blades are mostly carbon fiber/resin composite. Use convict labor to cut them into tiles. Reasonably flat tiles could be sold locally for roofing material. The sharply curved bits could blended into the feed for coal-fired power plants.

IMO, all three of those sports favor a man. Shooting. Hand-eye coordination is pretty good in men. With no other physical activity, like a biathalon, it might not matter. But archery is based upon strength. And so is bowling. I bowled in my youth and I can only say it's about the power. Watching women's bowling vs. men's bowling is like watching men's soccer vs. women's. Okay, bad analogy. But anyway, it's the difference in power. When I bowled and won a city team trophy, it was about the exlosive power of the ball. I remember well those strikes I threw which were so powerfully perfect it was a wall of pins flying off the lane at once -- in an instant. No bouncing off walls, no spinning pins lingering on the lane, and defintiely no wobbly leaners which topple, no, just a perfect pocket hit with massive power that lifted the pins off en masse and gone. Pure power roll.
I really never saw a female bowler who had that ability.

Yeah, buying babaganoush is easier than making it, if crappier. But I refuse to buy hummus, not with canned garbanzos one can buy on sale. 1 16 oz. (or whatever) or 1 29 oz. can (or whatever). Even can make it with a stick blender. Too easy to make to buy. Eggplant, though. I've bought fresh stuffed eggplant rolatini in the grocery store deli, just add your own sauce. Yeah, easier to buy prepared eggplant.

Dreams? I dreamed that I woke up in a two-story house where I apparently lived with Miss Linda and an older woman who seemed to be her mother, though this lady looked nothing like L.'s real mother. The peculiar thing is that my bedroom and bathroom were very much like my current ones. It was three a.m. and I needed to get ready for work, just as I do now. First my LED flashlight seemed to be on the fritz. And the two women were chattering happily downstairs about some event they wanted me to drive them to that night. I called, "Turn on my coffee!" and started using a plunger to clear the clogged toilet. (Tho clog? Three little pink rubber things that looked like cartoon bombs.)
Of course when I got downstairs the coffee wasn't even started and I was going to run late. Then I woke up and was startled to realize it *wasn't* actually three a.m.
