From the Museum:
This is the largest, the last, and in many ways, the most ambitious work from Cézanne’s lifelong exploration of the time-honored theme of nudes in a landscape. It is also, perhaps, in its unfinished state, the purest and most serene witness to the man whom Paul Gauguin described as spending “entire days on mountaintops reading Virgil,” dreaming of wooded glades populated with beautiful figures who, if not exactly participants in a narrative as such, are full of animation and interaction. Perhaps it is its grand nobility—its authority as something beyond time, “like art in the museums,” as Cézanne said—that made it so attractive to many artists. Enjoying continued fun & success today (beyond that game) But I saw behind the curtain of the Wizard of Oz LONG ago NOW…so do you. This is some vile [poop emoji] that many are shocked by… however the Olympics have been this level of darkness underneath the shiny veneer for a LONG LONG time.Corruption, cheating, drugs, greed, lies, threats, bribes, sexual manipulation & abuse… the list goes on and I just learn more as the years progress - from my direct experience years ago, as well as from athlete friends still clinging to the game. Is it any surprise? No. Not to anyone who’s been in it. We keep our mouths shut mostly. What can we say? But now… seeing this… we can not be silent. A certain amount of athletes have enjoyed success honestly in our sports. It’s a ton of fun on the surface at times, especially at the start when we are more naive. but make no mistake… we have clawed our way through muck we never knew existed, underneath all the shiny “glory”. 🚨🚨🚨 Yes, Sen. Mark Kelly directly worked to secure an investment in his balloon company from Chinese firm Ten Cent (and got it) -- and then the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency, DCSA, SUSPENDED the process to grant Kelly's company clearance for U.S. defense work. I've included the there main stories I wrote. The spokesperson for Kelly's balloon company lied to me that they had secured DCSA's seal of approval. The DCSA aims to protect U.S. security assets from malign foreign influence. I first broke these stories back in 2020 - and then followed up on them in 2023 when a Chinese spy balloon was traversing our country. I thought it was pretty relevant at the time. Completely agree. Political consultants don't seem to be able to think beyond "buy TV ads", although some of Trump's team do seem to be embracing newer stuff. Remember the Trump profile rising to the background of Thus Spake Zarathustra? Also, this article by Mark Simon is spot on. His thesis is that gaslighting is now very much more difficult, because there is a large community of people out there trying to make a name for themselves by showing that the "speaker" is full of crap. TBH, it reminds me of a scientific conference, where everyone wants to show how smart they are by dunking on the speaker. The documents obtained by Just the News also confirm that Pelosi's team played a role in the botched security planning for that fateful day. It's probably much more complicated than just levels of money, needing to include overall knowledge of the race and personalities within the electorate, but Senate races at the state level seem to be the point, in my mind, where the diminishing returns become incredibly obvious and undeniable.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison ====== Politician endorsements rarely make a difference (Trump appears to be the exception in primaries at least) and even FDR got his comeuppance at interfering in the 1938 Democrat Senate primaries to get FDR stooges to replace some moderate opposition to his increasingly radical agenda. They do matter as far as access to donors and somewhat favorable news coverage but they probably cost as many votes as they gain because some voters also hate celebrities as well. From what I recollect, political science research basically showed no statistical significance to overall effect on elections itself but significant effects on campaign funds raised and coverage. Pretty much a wash. Celebrity candidates are a bit different and it can lead to wins at the primary level and perhaps at the higher level as well--see John Glenn and Harrison Schmitt (also Jack Swigert). Honestly, it bugged me that Paris would mock Christians using something so iconically Italian. It made no sense to me. There is an alternative option. 277 There's obviously a level of diminishing returns when it comes to money in political campaigns.
------ Back about a ten to fifteen years ago when I engaged in empirical research, at least in congressional primaries, money demonstrated a cubic relationship with percentage of vote and winning. At a certain extreme point, one can simply buy the election personally (see Michael Huffington's win for a congressional seat in California or Jon Corzine's win over Franks in NJ). But, for most elections, there is a certain threshold of money that a candidate must raise (probably also correlates from memory with their overall candidate quality) to be a serious contender. If one has credible opposition, then as the amount spent rises, the chances of victory actually start dipping because the opposition is a quality candidate too. But at a certain stage, in state races or perhaps even a governor's race (see Corzine again), vastly overspending the opponent can end up increasing one's vote share over the normal baseline. It's worse than the same painting featured on Paul Cezanne dot org/The Large Bathers 1898-1905
In part, "The Large Bathers, 1898-1905 is the largest of Cezanne's pictures and because it is also the most formal in aspect, it has been cited often as an example of his ideal of composition and his restoration of classic monumentality after its lapse during the nineteenth century. It is exceptional among his work, however, in the marked symmetry and the adaptation of the nude forms to the triangular pattern of the trees and river. There is here, a search for constraining forms, an over-determined order which has to do with Cezanne's anxiety about women. Beautiful as it is, the composition is not the typical Renaissance pyramid, for the largest figures and the greatest compactness are in smaller pyramids at the sides; the central part, which is usually filled by a dominant object, is empty or unstressed, and the apex is intercepted by the frame. The triangle here is a form of constraint, with another expression than the older solemn design." (Reading all suggested.) No, wouldn't hang the huge, strange painting but it's exhibited locally. I do, it is not enough to be popular but you have to do it over time 2/3rds of each house of Congress and then 3/4's of both houses (aside from Nebraska) of state legislatures. Even the ERA did not make it under those conditions.
I understand your point, but I think SCOTUS limits would be more popular, and over time. I couldn’t answer the last thread because I was teaching - I don’t teach Yoga. I have a barre based workout - based in yoga, Pilates, ballet, musically driven. While you will see pikes, you won’t have endless yoga poses. This will get your heart rate up and you are going to sweat. The closest I get to yoga is a balance and core strength class. I teach a class which is what most people think about with barre based workout, small moves, etc., a cardio class with platforms, etc. but we still use the barre (which I taught twice today) and functional strength with weights. 🙂
