The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

Kamala Harris is the quintessential California Champagne Socialist. She espouses policies that are tremendously destructive to America, but carefully insulates herself from the repercussions of those policies.

Green New Deal...eat less red meat...EVs...restrict air travel...end petroleum production...end coal production...expand federal control over state lands...favor mass transit over automobiles...

She is affected by none of that! She will eat prime beef while we eat kale and crickets. She will be driven in huge ICE-powered cars while we bicycle to work. She will fly private jets while we live a meager existence in 15-minute cities. She will visit the glories of our beautiful country while we are restricted from even hiking on federal land.

Critics of Biden's energy policies say Harris' climate agenda could turn out to be even worse

I think that she has the potential to be even more hostile to the oil and gas industry. At least as bad as the current administration, but I expect her to align herself more closely with the fringe elements of the left

Oh joy! We'll get Biden on steroids! She will support every crackpot environmental plan from the hard left, which are thinly disguised to destroy the American economy. And this doesn't even address the geopolitical effects of an America that no longer produces energy! We would be at the mercy of every bad actor with some Iranian-supplied anti-ship missiles. Imagine an America with an energy crisis every six months!

Of course those "fringe elements" don't restrict their lunatic goals to the environment. Say hello to trans-mutilation on demand! And rabidly racialist policies for just about everything: hiring...reparations...affirmative action...you name it, and she will embrace policies that focus on sexuality or ethnicity or race.

But she is sort-of-black and has a vagina! We're saved!

My primary care physician (I think that's the lingo) says part of the problem is that I don't weigh a lot for my height, so donating a pint of blood=losing a pound I can't afford. My blood draws have been cut back to once a month.

But the hematologist says one day I'll be able to have my "libations" again, so that's something!

The inevitable lawsuits would kill Boeing. Its share prices have been suffering anyway. Was about 330 per share in 2020 and now is about 182 or so.

FWIW, Boeing is reportedly buying back its spun off subsidiary Spirit that makes the airframes for Boeing. In part, that is to attempt to deal with Spirits quality problems that have come to light.

Straws came about (and their old name was often sanitary straws) because dishwashers did not do a great job cleaning glasses at restaurants. In many places, they still don't with visible residue on the lips of drinking glasses. Also made for less mess with children spilling drinks.

Old assumptions that the government will just bail them out start to fail when the government itself is so far in debt that repudiation is going to occur shortly--either a soft one via inflating the debt away or a hard one.

Interest payments and transfer payments are eating discretionary government spending, Interest alone on the federal debt is 1.1 trillion or so this coming FY. Transfer payments are now about 4 trillion plus. That is out of a total budget of about 6 trillion. Taxes bring in about 4 trillion plus a rounding error or so.

This year's debt increase comes from about 2 trillion in FY 24 deficit albeit made a bit worse by Biden's student loan giveaways (think it was estimated somewhere around 400 billion or so.).

Something has gotta give.

CA has lower pass rate, but that's influenced by the very large number of people who take it. A good 20% are just phoning it in, don't care, and might not even finish it. I don't really count those in the total. Of the people who are actually taking it seriously, you gotta be a moron not to pass.

The Chinese are really, really good at copying and stealing things that work. They are taking notes on the current wars while most of our military leadership is busy jerking off. Building the right type off stuff in quantity wins even if the quality is lacking, if your opponent is preoccupied with DEI powerpoints.

I watched a clip recently in which an ex-PRC colonel said that China's shipbuilding capability is 20x ours. I find that very believable.

You can put out a lot of ships but if you cannot keep them from being sunk by a 10,000 dollar drone or even a one million dollar missile or torpedo, then having more surface ships simply makes gives their opponent more targets to shoot at and sink.

Tanks are having a similar issue right now on a lesser scale in land wars.

In time, offense will reassert itself as lasers come into common use as killers of missiles and drones until defense then comes up with ways to defeat lasers and so it goes.

In a world of shrinking and aging populations in major powers , losses of military personnel affect society much more than when people had larger families.

Such as: In 2008, people were exhausted by Bush in general, Iraq in particular, and Republicans sort of got swept up in that all around, especially once the housing bubble broke.

Obama was a blank slate with speeches that the media held up as JFK meets MLK. He preached hope and change and not much else, policy wise, and he went up against John McCain who basically campaigned with the message "if you vote for me, that's nice and all, but that Obama guy really is something, isn't he?"

Kamala is the incumbent VP. She is saddled with the failures of the past four years and none of her empty promises will ring true to people who have to deal with high prices of everything.

If Trump can stay on message, he will win. Kamala might help if she gets too many chances to talk off the cuff, but otherwise, hit the message and don't let up.

I have the same thoughts. They already tried this with her in 2020. No amount of media polesmoking and comparisons to Obama could sway her stench. If it didn't work then, it won't work now.

A large gathering place for conservatives would not, and is not, tolerated by ISPs/hosting companies/banks/etc. And even if it was, it'd be infested with lefty shills just like the smaller outlets are. Look at places like ar15.com - something like a third of the post traffic is paid lefty shills. Same for subreddits devoted to nominally non-lefty topics like firearms. 2016-2020 saw a massive internet purge of non-lefty sites and a doubling-down on the infestation of those remaining.

It's not immediately obvious to a lot of people in industries that can't work remote, but once Starlink passes a certain threshold in reliability and speed there is going to be a massive exodus into remote regions out west from non-woke types freed from blue shitholes. The main thing slowing it down at the moment is the slow speed of broadband penetration in places like ID, UT, WY, MT, etc. Housing supply in areas with connectivity can't keep up.

What Musk is doing is massively disruptive and will empower non-moonbats while speeding up the collapse of many cities.
