US Court of Appeals Blocks All of Biden's Unconstitutional, Authoritarian "Education Loan Relief"

It's just a massive transfer of wealth from productive Americans to his loser voters, most of whom are unemployed aspirants to the exciting Gender Hallucinations industry.

A federal appeals court on Thursday blocked President Joe Biden's administration from continuing to implement a new student debt relief plan designed to lower monthly payments for millions of Americans.

The St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted a request
by seven Republican-led states to put on hold parts of the U.S. Department of Education's debt relief plan that had not already been blocked by a lower-court judge.

That ruling last month by U.S. District Judge John Ross in St. Louis had blocked the department from granting further loan forgiveness under the administration's Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan but had not blocked all of the plan.

...

State attorneys general led by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey subsequently last week asked the 8th Circuit to block the rest of the SAVE Plan. The court did so through a one-page order granting an administrative stay.

Bailey on the social platform X hailed the ruling as a "huge win for every American who still believes in paying their own way." He said the student loan plan "would have saddled working Americans with half-a-trillion dollars in Ivy League debt."

He did it again just today!

The Biden administration is cancelling an additional $1.2 billion in student loans for borrowers who work in public service through changes to an existing forgiveness program.

The relief for roughly 35,000 borrowers was announced Thursday by the Education Department and made through changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which benefits workers such as teachers, nurses and firefighters.

Michael Shellenberger @shellenberger 23h
The governor of America’s richest and most populous state yesterday doubled down on his new law, which requires that schools hide a psychiatric disorder known as gender dysphoria from parents.

California Governor Gavin Newsom claims his law “protects the child-parent relationship” and prevents the government from “inappropriately intervening in family matters.”

This is disinformation. Newsom knows full well that his law prevents schools from telling parents when their children have come to believe that they are the opposite sex and were born into the wrong body.

This is dangerous because the next step is for doctors to give those children and adolescents puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and the final treatment, surgery.

Parents in California should know that Gavin Newsom has put their children in danger.

Why is Gavin Newsom doing this? Doesn’t he want to be president? [...]

Unless I am mistaken any "forgiven" loan repayments count as income and will generate a tax document. There may be some caveat in the law that waives that but if you get your house foreclosed on you have to pay taxes on the amount of the mortgage that you did not pay.

That happened to a couple we knew back in Connecticut and they got an irs form that said they had $150,000 in income the year when the bank finally got around to selling their house that they quit making payments on.

234 Comedian and actor Bob Newhart, who starred in long-running sitcoms Newhart and The Bob Newhart Show for CBS, has died at the age of 94.

Newhart’s longtime publicist, Jerry Digney, told The Hollywood Reporter that he passed away on Thursday morning at his Los Angeles home after a series of short illnesses. TVLine has reached out for confirmation.

Newhart first gained fame as a stand-up comedian with a distinctively dry and deadpan style; his 1960 comedy album The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts and won the Grammy for Album of the Year. He went on to star as psychologist Bob Hartley, alongside Suzanne Pleshette (as wife Emily) and Bill Daily (as patient Elliot Carlin), on CBS’ The Bob Newhart Show, which debuted in 1972. It became a hit and ran for six seasons, ending in 1978.

He later appeared in a number of episodes of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon’s childhood idol Professor Proton, winning his first ever Emmy Award for the role in 2013. Newhart later reprised the Professor Proton character on Big Bang prequel series Young Sheldon.

Girls vs. the boys is where the advantage is. I'm with you 100 percent on your pick. Shake up and energize this race with women and women-of-color voters. Hang onto Michigan and lose who? Nobody.

Joe Biden is our nominee, but apparently the media thinks it can pick our candidates for us, so I guess we would have no say in the choice anyway.

The fact that there are Democrats speculating about a potential replacement ticket, means the media is succeeding.

So if Joe "steps down", I really don't care who is on the ticket. No one is asking us what we want.

I will vote Blue no matter who. But I would be very happy with a Harris/Kelly ticket!

318 Is it federal law that prevents student loans from being discharged in bankruptcy? Why not change *that*, or put it back on the individual states?
Posted by: Helena Handbasket

It is, and I would have no problem making it dischargeable in bankruptcy. But it doesn't involve the states at all. Quite frankly, the actual loan contract doesn't even involve the schools.

The loan contract and all its repayment requirements and discharge provisions are between the student who borrowed, and the federal government.

The student-borrower decides each year how much of the available loans he's going to take, and tells the school and the feds. The money is disbursed from the feds to the school and goes first to pay tuition and fees - whatever is on the student's account that he owes the university for attending. If the student has chosen to take more in loans than tuition and fees cost, the remainder is disbursed to him, and he spends it as he pleases, though hopefully it's on things like... books and school supplies.

So, anyway that's why it's meaningless to propose raiding endowments.

I am convinced a good chunk of the reported budget is money spent on the last 30 years’ worth of attempts to make a BHC4. This is common practice in Hollywood accounting; if you see a sequel or reboot which has been years since the last one, and you don’t see the money on the screen, chances are at least some of that money was burned in the fires of development hell.

There are three big action scenes. One involves a helicopter (probably the height of the film).

But the special effects aren't great. They're good, and unless my eyes deceive me, most of the car stuff is practical.

He goes from Animal House (huge earner) to The Blues Brothers (huge earner) to An American Werewolf in London (decently big earner) to Trading Places (huge earner).

But the budgets don't skyrocket. By Trading Places, the budget is $15 million.

There's a shot in Coming to America where King Joffer's limo and escort have stopped traffic in front of the Waldorf Astoria, do a U-turn, and traffic picks up behind them.

Probably a decently expensive shot at the time. Permits, closing the road, security. All of that had to be paid for.

But, one shot and it's done.

Now? They'd build a replica up to about ten feet, a road, and then digitally extend everything, needing to do it in 3D because they'd have to have a camera move, and what was probably a $10,000 shot in the 80s becomes a $150,000 shot in the 2020s.

494 Things I didn't know until today, & thought were interesting:

1) Crooks had a JuCo degree in Engineering Science. He had been accepted to start this coming fall semester at Robert Morris University in PA, as an engineering major. This might help to explain his somewhat sophisticated bomb detonator, & his encrypted cell phone-- which slowed FBI forensics down for a couple of days.

2) He had searched the 'Net for both Trump AND Biden rallies. He also googled both men. Sounds to me like he would've been just as happy shooting Biden!

3) He also ran a 'Net search for "manic depressive."

So, a bright but troubled 20-yr-old, whose political views were unformed, and likely not the central motivation for what he did. What little is known about him sounds like other modern era wannabe assassins. Hinckley wanted to impress a movie star. Arthur Bremer just wanted to be SOMEBODY. Squeaky Fromm did it for Charley.

505 Outkick: Bud Light Sales Take Another Massive Hit More Than A Year After Dylan Mulvaney Disaster. Bud Light has fallen another spot in the rankings.

Shortly after the disaster with Mulvaney, the Anheuser-Busch light beer brand lost its spot as the best-selling beer in America to Modelo. Now, it's fallen to third.

Sales data obtained by the Wall Street Journal shows that Bud Light represented 6.5% of beer dollar sales in America for the weeks that ended July 6th.

Modelo came in first at 9.7% and Michelob Ultra came in second at 7.3%. Bud Light falling from first to second was bad. Falling all the way to third would seem to indicate the problems aren't just over, but there might not be any coming back.

I went through a number of comments and the general sentiment is the rabid partisanship that Biden would continue on as the nominee no matter what hit the wall today. It seems all that is left to do is roll out him out one more time so he can officially become a political zombie. After that the question is when does he become a political corpse.
