Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Democrat Senator Bob Menendez Found Guilty of BriberyHe was only doing what Biden's entire crooked family has been doing for decades. A Manhattan jury found Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez guilty on all counts in his corruption case on Tuesday. Menendez, 70, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit bribery and honest services wire fraud. The case centered on allegations that the senator and his wife Nadine accepted bribes in exchange for acting to benefit the governments in Egypt and Qatar when he was the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The senator, who pleaded not guilty and did not testify, was charged with 16 felony counts including obstruction of justice, bribery, extortion, wire fraud and acting as a foreign agent.Menendez has refused to resign from the Senate and is now running for reelection, this time as an independent candidate. I don't know if this conviction will force him to drop out. Obviously a Republican would benefit if he stays in, as Menendez would siphon some votes away from the Democrat. New Jersey is a very corrupt, mobbed-up state. It's the New Orleans of the Northeast. It's nearly as corrupt and mob-controlled as Rhode Island. Democrat states, of course. Like the Presidency, the requirements for Senator are in the Constitution. Nothing says that he cannot run, be elected, and serve, while in prison. Now, I believe that the Senate can refuse to seat him but, technically, it should not be able to prevent him from running. This had nothing to do with the Italians. But, if you look at that 2006-2008 Senate Foreign Relations Committee, most of them were taking bribes. You had Barack Obama, John Kerry, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton who went around the world taking bribes. I would assume that Mitch McConnell sat on the Republican side along with John McCain.
But, at the end of the day, Senator Menendez was taking bribes while serving in the US Senate; it was nothing new. Posted by: wferrin at July 16, 2024 02:28 PM (omKBy) 46

MSNBC likewise made an extraordinary decision Sunday night to pull Morning Joe, with CNN saying the network wanted to “to avoid a scenario in which one of the show’s stable of two dozen-plus guests might make an inappropriate comment on live television.” As with the Secret Service decision, MSNBC was making a major admission, essentially telling audiences its lead morning news show is either not really a news show, or that its format only holds up under something less than maximum scrutiny. OT: The anthology, All Will Burn: At All Costs from Raconteur Press, with my short story "Ant Farm," is slated to go live on Amazon on Friday, 7/19! I'm waiting to hear whether I can send the cover art to Perfessor Squirrel for the Book Thread, though it's probably too late for this Sunday's thread.
They will have the Kindle version, the paperback, and then links to their other anthologies. I guess their instructions mean we should wait to send out the links until we see all of them go live on Amazon. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 16, 2024 02:51 PM (J2vNu) 195

Most importantly, he has embraced the New Right's unifying philosophical creed: that the developments liberals point to as signs of "progress"--an expanding global economy, accelerating technological innovation and the relaxation of traditional social and sexual mores--are in fact engines of civilizational collapse.
