But, F=ma. The bullet may be light, but it is going purty dang fast, so plenty of energy. And a vest by stopping a bullet is absorbing all of that energy at a single small point instead of a bullet distributing it as it goes through and possibly exiting. I am not saying knocking him down, but you'd think he would have reacted. Of course, he was getting tackled.

One of my troops got shot behind his knee. He thought it was a bee sting at first. Another one took a round that came in through his vest and out under his armpit. He said it felt like getting hit by a baseball bat. My dad was shot in the solar plexus and was completely unaware of it until he reached to his belt to get his bandage for someone else's wound and then saw the blood on himself, then it hurt like hell.

The shot that (mercifully) nicked The Donald's ear was on for range (elevation). Luck or skill on that shot we will never know. Windage was off. Bad luck, bad zero, and/or bad shooting technique we also will never know. I think the guy mostly knew what he was doing, but only mostly, thank God.

I'm not so sure. Maybe, but it's by no means certain, because everyone in the room said he continued to squeeze the trigger after he'd been wrestled to the side, his gun pointed upward. There was evidence of a couple rounds hitting the ceiling tiles, but just a couple.

Actually I rarely get it but had it first night back from vacation early this week. It does suck and I hate to say it messed up my whole week.

It does. The bullet cannot impart more oomph to the target than it does the shooter via recoil. However it's imparting it to the shooter by way of accelerating the rifle towards them (if held shittily), or the rifle-shooter system together, which has much more "m" and thus less "a" (which would be g-forces).
If you really want to nerd out, you also have things like muzzle brakes arresting some of the rearward motion of the rifle but turning it into blast and flash. And various ways in which a projectile turns it's momentum into un-fun effects for the target - it's not uncommon to see combustion/flashes due to implosion in cavitating ballistic gel, for example. The projectile doesn't need to distribute its momentum evenly.
You learn some of this real quick if you start lobbing 700 grain projectiles. Do it wrong and it will hurt, a lot.

I don't think this is widely known or understood but the SS has been getting jerked around for years. There were a number of incidents during Obama's time in office that made it VERY clear someone was trying to portray them as incompetent - if not outright make them so - to spur on attempts. The real nasty ones work in academia, in jobs on the sorta-political periphery like non-profits and stuff, or - and a *lot* of them are like this - they're trust fund kids when younger. The older ones that keep at it move up the ladder in those jobs if they need a job or actually end up professors, politically focused lawyers, and NGO asshats.
You will almost never see these people outside of major cities and college towns. They're not interested in protecting anything; they're really in it for the violence/power/fun. The misguided fluffheads are all in the named groups - again, ANSWER, Occupy, etc. There is no real working-man/veteran component in any of these.

The riot tourists among them were not doing so hot between 2016 and 2020. But the ones who are successful are largely taking money in exchange for delivering broader violence on demand for creating news beats, and may retreat back to their academic shitholes for long periods when not needed for that.
Don't forget a meaningful part of the bigger picture is propaganda, recruiting, and taking care of members who got hemmed up. Plus "propaganda of the deed" stuff to keep morale up.
