Not only that, we now have a bit of a stunning op-ed from George Clooney, saying Democrats need a new nominee, not Biden.
I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. As a tender but fierce lover.Whoops, I accidentally wrote that last sentence.
I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he's won many of the battles he's faced. But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe "big F-ing deal" Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate. Was he tired? Yes. A cold? Maybe. But our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn't see what we just saw. We're all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we've opted to ignore every warning sign. The George Stephanopoulos interview only reinforced what we saw the week before. As Democrats, we collectively hold our breath or turn down the volume whenever we see the president, who we respect, walk off Air Force One or walk back to a mic to answer an unscripted question. My guess is the polls would not be that much different. Trump slightly leading but still in the MOE.
If Biden drops out and they are able to put almost any other Democrat in there, it will be the biggest blunder in Presidential politics that Trump agreed to a debate so early before the nomination. Everyone on Trump's side hoped for this moment, nobody thought what to do if it happened.
Had this debate meltdown happened in September, it would be impossible to swap him out.

NC Senate race between Thom Tillis and Cal Cunningham.
There were at least 12 polls of the race in July. In those, Tillis' range was 32% - 44%. Cunningham's was 40% - 52%.
Tillis was a cooked goose, if you believed the July polls.
The final result was Tillis winning 48% - 47% over Cunningham.
Polling is broken. It's been broken for a long time. Polling in July, even if it's not broken, has a very tenuous history of reflecting the "reality" of elections in November. Polling of individual states is hard and expensive, so the ones that try do their best to make shit up that seems right unless they're willing to spend gobs of money, which none of them are willing to do.
Senate polling right now is probably just as garbage.
It'll be interesting to see how the whole, "Senate Democrats are doing better than Trump," narrative holds up.

In general, they think Biden needs to be replaced, he'll resist, and he might do so successfully for a number of reasons, to the suffering of the Dem party.

The worst thing about this situation for Biden is that the golf challenge wasn't just an off-the-cuff splutter from Potatohead at the debate. In the past three months Biden has specifically called out Trump to play a round of golf against him, each time offering to spot him three strokes. (This had to have been cooked up by his staff of female interns.) His challenge was full of the bullshit bravado that we've come to know and love Scranton Joe for.
And now, when Trump says, "you're on," all we get from the Biden camp is craven backpedaling because Biden has too many "important things" to do (naps maybe?) to waste his time shutting down Trump.

He votes nearly lockstep with Schumer, like about every other dem. He's counting on Ohio's stupid portion of the electorate to put him over the top. Men couldn't care less womens money or accomplishments and would marry an unmotivated cashier at Dollar Tree if she's hot and sweet and enjoys making the man happy. Women, however, wouldn't consider the male cashier for anything other than a fling.

Four months of working CGI artists to death for 120 hours a week (with no overtime) should fix that right up.
