You ask the seller all the usual questions, and they say 'I wouldn't be scared to ride this across the country'. yeah right! So anyway at some point after I bought it I was riding on a summer evening and I was stopped at a red light. So with nothing to do I was just kind of looking around and was looking at my shadow. I was perpendicular to the setting sun and the shadows were long. I noticed something weird in the shadow, so I turn around to look and my taillight was hanging by the wires! My grandpa used to pronounce some words weirdly. I think just to mess with people.
The one I remember is tacos. Me, my brother and our mom lived with him after my parents divorced since he was living on his own. One night mom was making dinner, tacos, and he's like 'what are those'? He'd never heard of them. This would have been late 70'/early 80's in the upper midwest. But after he tried them he loved them. He would call them Tay-Coes Posted by: haffhowershower at July 12, 2024 08:25 PM (NMT5x) 119

Posted by: Ben Had at July 12, 2024 08:25 PM (5MvGY) Drunk dude crashed his truck out front of my dad's house one year. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. I talked to him and yelled at him a lot to keep him conscious, but wouldn't really touch him because I didn't want to get sued later. Careflight showed up and took him in. He recovered. Came back by and thanked me a month or 2 later, but only because of what he was told because he didn't remember a damn thing from that day. I've long thought, in addition to licenses taking at least two years to get and costing $2000+, that the first required road vehicle stage should be a moped. Move from there after a few months to a little 250, then to a motorcycle of your choice, and then into a car/truck for your final license test and permission to operate the vehicle on your own.
Have perspective and empathy and understanding of all of them for when you encounter them on the road. Posted by: Moron Robbie - Women are more likely to accidentally kill themselves than be killed by a man at July 12, 2024 08:53 PM (uKQ6k) 168

On Friday, testimony was presented that a batch of bullets was turned over to the police during the trial, reportedly connected to the "Rust" movie set. The lead investigator and the prosecutor put them into evidence in a file unrelated to the "Rust" case. The prosecution failed to alert the defense to the new evidence. This, according to Judge Sommer, prejudiced the defendant irreparably.
"There is no way for the court to right this wrong," said Judge Sommer. "The sanction of dismissal is the only warranted remedy." https://tinyurl.com/5n6np3c6 Posted by: Erebus- ex-killer whale at July 12, 2024 09:19 PM (elaR+) 219

Reeves aims guns every scene in John Wick. The point is, they're not supposed to kill people. Hence the premise of every scene in every Western ... and even shit like WestWorld. Posted by: Its Always Been This Way You are very, very, wrong. Since Brandon Lee was killed they changed many rules. Thing about 95% of actors is they get to live it up, but the VAST majority are highly replaceable cause there are thousands of people cute enough to replace them, so the ones that are a little smart try to be extremely appealing in every way to the elites so they don't get replaced. After the article goes through the usual nonsense--SCOTUS gave Trump a license to commit infinity number crimes if he's president again, waah waah--you get to passages like this: "Biden has lost his best, and perhaps only, high-profile forum to change the race’s contours. The voters have now seen, and cannot unsee, Biden in what appears to be the grips of advanced cognitive breakdown. Trump could have spent the entire 90 minutes with his pants at his ankles and he still would have won." Liberal tears. God, I love them. Posted by: Dr. T at July 12, 2024 09:38 PM (jGGMD) 251

Here we go. There's always one. I assume it's the extension of "never aim a gun at someone unless you mean to kill them" line that, I guess, meant something back in the Boomer Era. So John Wick ... and every other action era film in you see ... doesn't have a gun aimed at another actor with some kind of action that makes the prop cycle ? Is that how it works now ? No. It ain't. There's no magic process by which that gun is not aimed directly at the other actor in the scene ... and there is an expectation that nobody will die. Been that way ... forever. Posted by: Its Always Been This Way Yes, there is always one, and you're it. Close up when the gun is pointed at someone and not fired, it's a rubber gun painted to look like a real gun. Also, you don't seem to be familiar with a thing called CGI. Been around for a while now. There is also Airsoft type firearms and then they add special effects in post production. Here is additional proof since you want to be dense. https://tinyurl.com/2trbj5w5 Posted by: Erebus- ex-killer whale at July 12, 2024 09:39 PM (elaR+) 254

"But in the past 10 years, they’ve come out with electronic guns, plug guns where it is impossible for anything to come out of the barrel and total CG. That’s the way we do it. That technology is out there for everybody... ... It comes down to the fact that it would cost certain people a great deal of money to switch over. No one wants to say that, but that’s the real reason. You don’t need firearms. The alternative is just going to cost you more money." https://tinyurl.com/27z76rfk Posted by: Moron Robbie - Women are more likely to accidentally kill themselves than be killed by a man at July 12, 2024 09:40 PM (uKQ6k) 258

Guns in movies- while it is preferable to add the fire of gunshot post production, there are many cases where it’s not possible. Real guns are used often, you get the weight and recoil. Anytime you see a shot where you are looking down the barrel, that is a camera person behind it. In this case, the camera person wanted to get a shot like that. It all went awry when in these practice shots (film, not gun ), a real bullet was present for all kinds of egregious reasons. This is why the armorer position is so important on set and going discount is not a bright decision.

He was an Executive Producer was he not? As such he had oversight on film budget. In fact he was putting his own money into the LLC that made up the production and had oversight as to the crews being assembled be it Principal cast, cast, GRIPS, Camera, DP (who was shot dead) Gaffs, Wardrobe, craft services right down to the crews pumping out the Andy Gump's. And then there was this "Armorer"...some pink haired 20 something with the experience of ...nothing... but her DADDY was a big name in the Armorer business in the industry which is how SHE got her job. That sounds…lovely. It is hotter than satan’s pepper patch outside right now, but like I have noted before, there is a smell to slow, hot, southern summer nights that if bottled would sell for millions.

I thought Progressives hated guns. So, why are the Hollywood elite so obsessed with having guns in all of their movies. A lot of guns. And a lot of violence. Kinda weird.

I don't claim any special expertise in the Baldwin case when it comes to guns, gun safety, and guns on set.
But I do know that prosecutors are never, not ever, supposed to withhold evidence from the defense. If they get caught doing so, they're asking to get the case dismissed. If it's true (not saying it was) that Baldwin was getting preferential treatment as a Democrat and a celebrity, that was all the more reason for the prosecutors not to make this kind of mistake. Total failure. Posted by: Dr. T at July 12, 2024 09:57 PM (jGGMD) 297

Got the house to myself this weekend - well except for the kitty. Watching "O Brother Where Art Thou?" next is "Holes."
I do this thing where I follow an actor to another movie (gotta be in my DVD catalogue). this one is Tim Blake Nelson. One of my favorite actors. Posted by: Pug Mahon, Nothing to Contribute to the Debate at July 12, 2024 09:58 PM (Ad8y9) 302
Everyone goes on vacation tomorrow except me. It’s going to be a very quiet casa de Piper. I am already feeling my heart pull knowing my kiddo will be gone all week without me.

The judge in the Baldwin case had already rigged it in his favor when she ruled that him being co-producer wasn't relevant.
That meant videos of him rushing/bullying the crew while he behaved dangerously with firearms would not be allowed. Posted by: Erebus- ex-killer whale at July 12, 2024 10:01 PM (elaR+) 306
It's still really hot here, above 95, but the low humidity and fresh breeze makes it pretty bearable.

The apparently unasked/unanswered question:
Did Baldwin actually do the required gun safety training? Posted by: davidt at July 12, 2024 10:12 PM (SYTee) 310
I shoulda nooded. I didn't nood. Sorry.

I'm sorry...please forgive
Baldwin was a bit of an ass in most circles so I'm thinking that succinct technically precise training modules as to the movie shots with firearms involved with pre shooting training for all principle actors was not ever instituted . Just my observation...(Then there is this issue with LIVE ammo being brought on the set in the first place.) Posted by: Nightwatch at July 12, 2024 10:23 PM (TDvv2) 313
192 It's a weekend, why can't we all just get drunk and argue chili, gumbo, and bbq sauce? Hell, why shan't we toss in 9MM vs .45acp and Longbow vs crossbow? While we're at it?
