Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Pew Research Survey: Republicans Are Now The Largest Political Party in AmericaNate Cohn Historically, Democrats have always had an edge on Republicans as far as party identification. But a very large survey from Pew now shows Republicans with a +1 party identification edge. The poll, taken over the past two days, is a high-water mark for Trump showing him close to breaking the 50% mark in most matchups, although it is interesting to see that Biden and Harris do the best against Trump and are at equal support, although Trump actually does the best against Harris. That actually says quite a bit about how unpopular Kamala Harris is. She is no more popular than a man widely acknowledged as a vegetable. Whitmer and Shapiro can at least claim that their name ID is low, explaining their worse numbers against Trump. If you think Biden is being humiliated in public by staying in the race, Kamala's humiliation is x2.Obviously this is a good poll, and not just for the main reason. It's a great result not just because it predicts a Trump win, no matter who the opponent, but because it buttresses Biden's main argument for remaining in the race: I'm the best one to take on Trump. And even if he's not actually "the best" to take on Trump, no one can argue that they would beat Trump, either. So why change horses midstream and etc.? Unless some possible replacement candidate shows that he consistently polls ahead of Trump, Biden will dig in his heels, justifiably, and say "No one is beating Trump right now, all of us would need a break or October Surprise to beat him, so why shouldn't I be the candidate waiting for that October Surprise instead of Gretchen Whitmer?" On the other hand, the polls are becoming increasingly bleak for Biden. The Cook Political Report just shifted six states to the GOP's column. The states affected by this shift--Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada--are crucial battlegrounds that could determine the next occupant of the White House. Each of these states showed a marked movement towards the Republican Party, attributed largely to Biden's perceived debate disaster. In the aftermath of the debate, voters in these states have expressed growing concerns over Biden's ability to effectively lead, further amplified by ongoing issues such as economic instability and rising crime rates. These factors, combined with a lackluster debate performance, have contributed to a waning confidence in Biden among swing voters and independents. The electoral implications of this shift are significant. For Republicans, gaining traction in these states could pave the way for a stronger path to victory in the 2024 election. Conversely, for Democrats, the shift underscores the urgent need to address the concerns of voters and reassess campaign strategies to regain lost ground.New York state has become competitive -- a real horrorshow for the Democrats. Biden won New York in 2020 by twenty-two points, 56% to Trump's 34%. And now? Biden leads by an average of 7.5%. That's still a pretty solid lead for Biden, but that is a lead that could be overcome, particularly if Biden continues losing support generally, and if Democrat voters then become discouraged and vote at a lower propensity. President Joe Biden is witnessing a notable decline in support from New York voters, traditionally a reliable Democratic base. According to recent polls, Biden's approval ratings have taken a sharp downturn, raising concerns among Democratic strategists about the state's political future. Key among the factors contributing to this shift is growing dissatisfaction among both Democratic and Independent voters. Issues such as inflation, crime rates, and economic policies have led to increasing criticism of Biden's administration. This changing sentiment suggests that New York, once considered a safe haven for Democrats, may now emerge as a critical battleground state in the upcoming 2024 election. "We're still acting like this is a one-party state, which for pretty much 20, 25 years it has been," Democratic Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine said. "I truly believe we're a battleground state now."Trump will make a big play for New York both to depress Democrat turnout in other states -- if New York is in play, then the election is over, and you might as well not vote, and you might as well not cast fraudulent votes either -- and also because it would really please his ego to win his home state. I have been gaming out the electoral college, and right now my reasonable count gives Trump 268 votes, with 32 additional votes as possibles: NH, VA, and MI (that one is a stretch). I’m pleased by the current circumstances but ultimately it’ll be like Elric Blade indicated in a previous thread: extremely close.
Around half the voters in this country are barely functional retards. They vote D because their parents did… they have zero ability to learn. I know people who are otherwise educated and apparently smart and even religious but they get all stupid and retarded about politics. It’s almost entirely emotional…. Which is why the debate fallout is grand: It’s causing depression on the other side and that will hurt their turnout. I don’t have a crystal ball on cheating other than I know it will happen…. Only the extent is in question. We’re not yet North Korea…. If Trump gets enough legitimate votes they can’t cheat the potato over the finish line without losing all credibility Posted by: LinusVanPelt at July 10, 2024 05:42 PM (2BAti) 93

I think every presidential candidate should campaign in every single state. Stop taking states for granted. You are president of the whole country - attract as many votes in as many parts of it as you possibly can. It actually helps your presidency - even if you lose a state, if you make it tight, it means the congresspeople from that state will be more inclined to hear what you have to say. My advice to Trump (like he needs it). Have fun! Make running for president like you are having the time of your life.
Don't say or do anything scary - we already know what we are getting. So, kick back and relax. Smile and laugh. Travel around the country, meeting people. Hit every state you can. If the press asks you what you are going to do if elected, just say "I'll do what I did when I was president before, only even better". Oh, and no more debates. Say that, out of respect and pity for Biden, you won't subject him to that again. Say is seriously, like this is of grave importance to the nation. It'll drive Biden mad, and make even more Dems jump ship. Posted by: El Mariachi, Attorney at Law! at July 10, 2024 06:06 PM (nLFEI) 186

First time Biden met the Parkinsons doctor? November 2022. You don't meet a specialist until the disease is getting fairly advanced - usually the start of stage 3. At the advanced stages, noticeable decline takes months, not years. Stage 3 is mildly disabled - exactly where Biden is. It also includes dementia, memory loss, hallucinations, etc. It's the "dangerous" stage - where the patient is still somewhat able but losing their cognitive abilities rapidly. Problems with processing information about their surroundings or environment. Issues with word-finding. Problems with production of language — slurred or unarticulated speech due to weakened muscles caused by brain changes. Posted by: El Mariachi, Attorney at Law! at July 10, 2024 06:19 PM (nLFEI) 231

Now imagine if every one of those Republicans actually, you know, VOTED.
The whole "get out the vote" thing pisses me off. If you look at what's happening in this country and aren't motivated to drive a few miles and vote, then fuuuuuuck.. Posted by: Taro Tsujimoto at July 10, 2024 07:13 PM (5YmYl) 256
Another reason I'm looking forward to Trump's second term is that it will continue to expose the lies of the MSM. Wait, what? We're all still here? Our democracy is humming along? No one is in re-education camps? Gays and lesbians haven't been hunted down and killed? This is not the Trump term I was told to expect! The closest thing to palling around with a president I would imagine is hanging out with a billionaire. Life is just easier that way. No messy lines in airports, assistants, chefs. Your own yachts and multiple properties in beautiful locations around the world and never having to deal with the icky poors. Posted by: CaliGirl ============== I'm kind of smelling a Jackie Kennedy. Spend years hog-tied to John Kennedy, God knows what kind of threats she was under by the family if she ever got sick of his infidelities and lies and tried to bolt, then get freed by his death and commit the ultimate eff-you to them: marry a guy whose money makes them look like trailer trash. But that's wishful thinking. She'll be at the intersection of Clinton-Soros-Middle East and I'm sure she'll continue to help her former patrons. Always the facilitator, never the boss. But the money is good. Posted by: The MSM, whiplashing on an as-needed basis at July 10, 2024 07:22 PM (I87yH) 258
Off with that MSM sock, even though I do seem to be talking to myself. Posted by: Blonde Morticia's office at July 10, 2024 07:23 PM (I87yH) 259
If I'm a 37 year old billionaire, no way am I picking up a peri/postmenopausal Huma (who probably didn't much like dick in her best days).
Unless I'm queerer than a rainbow zebra and need a beard. ----- Why does anyone NEED a beard in today's climate???? No one cares anymore... Posted by: lin-duh who owns one at July 10, 2024 05:46 PM (9U6Wl) yeah I'd put it more that this links his faction with what is left of the Hillary faction, possibly hiding transfers between clinton's "Charity" and Soros' Holocaust stash. Been to California several times, never cared for it… I guess I just missed the good parts…
Posted by: tubal at July 10, 2024 06:21 PM (PCK5/) To me as a Midwesterner the big issue is that all the non-irrigated plant life is a brownish color, looking like it was dead. I like the rough, rocky bits enough but the scrub around it is a downer. Posted by: Oldcat at July 10, 2024 07:32 PM (eoQWY) 261
anybody who is still undecided should be beaten senseless with a nickel-filled sock.

As I've said over at Instapundit, another major reason Biden won't be replaced is because the bleaker things become, the better a fall guy he makes.
No supposed up-and-comer in the Dem party wants to be the person who "lost the country to Trump." That would be the end of their political career. But nobody cares if Biden is taken to the wood chipper. Posted by: Matt_SE at July 10, 2024 11:37 PM (R1kS/) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.051 seconds. |
