Coeur d’Alene’s regional chamber proves it hates the First Amendment and free speech An uproar took place in the Idaho town of Coeur d’Alene prior to July 4th this year when the town’s regional chamber issued regulations on what was allowed to be displayed by individuals during its July 4th holiday parade. Under parade regulations adopted by the chamber board this year, “Symbols associated with specific political movements, religions, or ideologies” were unacceptable. [Linda Coppess, chamber president and CEO,] wrote that in the past, the chamber received numerous complaints about displays that people found offensive, including “Confederate flags, derogatory illustrations, harsh politically-based language, and graphic photographs.” Coppess wrote that last year alone, she received over 50 complaints about different signage and symbols that were deemed offensive. To address those concerns, the chamber consulted national organizations to ensure its guidelines were transparent and fair, she wrote. “Our intention with this policy was simple: to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and respected,” Coppess wrote. The chamber listed several other things as unacceptable for the parade, including signs promoting controversial political issues, displays containing divisive or inflammatory language related to political debates and signs displaying slogans or messages that incite political division or unrest. [emphasis mine] Within days the chamber was overwhelmed with thousands of complaints from local citizens, most of whom appeared to be especially offended by the ban of religious symbols. As a result, the chamber backed down partly, rescinding that particular restriction. Below is a short clip from the July 4th Coeur d’Alene parade. As you can see, a lot of people came carrying crosses. I suspect they would have been there whether or not the religious ban was rescinded, expressing defiance.

There are two problems though, last I heard it does not have equivalent BTU to the same volume of gasoline, making it difficult to store enough fuel in the vehicle. Also the infrastructure to replace the gas stations is completely different. Requires 100% replacement of what is out there now.
The last point is the same problem EVs have, but at least you can recharge them at home, so they have a commuter use.

The people who are trying to get Biden out are the insiders and the office holders. Tester issued a statement after Jill Biden's letter went out saying effectively "put up or shut up". I wrote a huge saga about 10 days back about my mother's friend who had a stroke while she was on the phone with my mother. I raced there...small town; cops came; paramedics came and action ensued.
She's doing well. They raced her to a larger hospital and removed a clot from her brain. Yes....jabbed.

I respect your view, but as far as I can tell, Keynesian and the current General whatever theory is at best phenomenological, in that it explains what is seen, but cannot explain why it happened or predict any recurrence, and often falls back on the explanation that things happen because it is their nature to do so. It seems to have not interest in problems with fiat currency or debt, outside of being useful accounting tricks.
I have been wrong before and I admit my full exposure were various 100 level econ classes, and helping an ex girlfriend with her econ/accounting class (which used a textbook written by Paul Krugman and some other academic that was a restatement of the Samuelson and Nordhaus textbook "for dull students") But I wound up listening to Jesus Huerta de Soto instead.

I've seen projects (mostly just on the drawing board, not real ones) to use wind turbines to generate electricity to electrolyze water to make hydrogen for combustion. If that's what you want to do, it's stupid to integrate the two things. Use the wind turbines to make electricity for the grid and use electricity from the grid to electrolyze water to make hydrogen. The wind turbines and the hydrogen electrolysis are two completely different processes.

It's definitely a prestige thing.Two million$ properties on that lake are the low end. I had a client who was a life long resident of CDA who moved farther north about 2 years ago. Modest 3 bedroom house built in the 50's quit aways from the lake. His property taxes were nearly 4 times what I pay and I have acreage. His bigger reason for moving were the " ^%#=_@$$/ liberals on the City Council ".The service industry in CDA gets their employees from Post Falls just to the west.

In VT, people sir quietly in their lawn chairs and wait for the show. Lions park, on the other hand,was pretty crowded with lots of kids and lots of personal fireworks. There were Roman candles going off in the middle if crowds with no care given about where they might land. There were firecrackers and bottle rockets and bigger things being set off. It was a lot of fun.
I did see one of the larger personal fireworks go sideways. Two of its salves went horizontal right into people on blankets. No real damage done, soevwryone remained calm and more fireworks ensued.

A couple of decades ago, batteries sucked and hydrogen looked like a good bet for the future. But batteries are good enough now for cars, pickup trucks, and semis.
Even for airplanes, hydrogen is too much of a pain. It will be a long time before we stop using fossil fuel for airplanes, if ever, but it will be synthetic "e-fuel" before hydrogen.
The worst of all worlds is the hydrogen V8 engine. Just a solution looking for a problem.

Well, making hydrogen by electrolysis is the expensive way to do it. But if you are stuck on stupid , using wind turbines is the best way. Wind blows: you make H2, and store it in pressure vessels. Wind stops: you stop making H2, and sell off some the stored shit. A lot easier than trying make the grid cope with an erratic source of generation. But hydrogen will always be a shitty fuel.

In 30 years Boise has gone from being a big town to a small city. There are now 600,000 people living in the area, and they all live on the west side, with all the jobs being on the east side of town. The morning and evening commutes are rough.

If you want to see the basic problem with solar power, just look at a typical graph of daily solar irradiance, such as from the sensor on weather station, like today:

See the problem? That's cloud cover coming and going.
Peak solar irradiance this year was around 1300 W/m^2. High noon on May 19th. Every since it hardly gets over 1000, and only briefly if it's clear at high noon.
It's been sort of hazy all through June up to now. Even when clear looking, there's some obscuration.

I also laughed my ass off a couple months ago. They found they heat island effect of those massive solar panel farms was much worse than was expected. They did a simple, spherical cow approximation and thought it wouldn't be too bad.
Well, it was much worse, especially at night. Average temps at times a night were much higher than predicted.

Just saw something interesting. More evidence of a Younger-Dryas impact hypothesis, that about 12,000 years ago, a SMOD wreaked havoc, and nearly extinctified humans at the time.
It was a giant comet, not an asteroid they thing, a 60 mile wide sucker. It broke up in several pieces and they all airbursted in the lower atmosphere.
The effect on the Erf was like a giant nuking from orbit. I noted with interested that one of those YUGE airbursts was likely over South Carolackey, lo, 12,000 years ago.

Yes, we blame everything on DEI, but in this case DEI really is to blame. Library associations decided shushing was punishing loud cultures and blah blah blah.
Also, most city libraries now are gathering places for the homeless and the mentally ill. There are regular fights, drug use, and let’s just say, awkward behavior, often in the restrooms. There have been several write ups in the press about this, but not enough to change anything.
To be honest, I feel for the librarians who wanted to be bookworms, doing a quiet job with low stress. It turns out many of them now have to focus n security, and take on jobs better left to professionals in substance abuse, homelessness, and other societal problems. I really respect library staff for what they put up with and how they do it and generally in such a happy way.
But it does bother me that even library staff talk at an almost yelling volume these days. The loud talking is not just kids, it is also adults, including staff.

The highlights of my day are workouts, breakfast, and maybe smoking a pipe. It's all a gentle downhill run from there. Weekends, highlights are washing the car and the above.
Somebody here told me I really live on the edge. In a town where you can catch a bullet in broad daylight, even in the suburbs, I guess I really do.

While there is normally a process thst includes FBI background checks for giving people clearance, just like with documents, the President is at liberty to grant or revoke whatever security clearance he deems necessary to anybody at any time.
