The Leftwing Coalition of Communists, Socialists, and Islamists Wins the Most Seats in the French Parliament, with the National Rally Coming In Third

I very erroneously told you that France's runoff system works like other runoff systems -- top two vote-getters proceed to the second round.

That's not how it works. The first round only eliminates the worst-performing candidates. Anyone who gets 12.5% of the vote advances to the next round.

This means that in many precincts, there might be three or even four candidates in the runoff.

That looked good for National Rally, who has a plurality of support but not majority support in many jurisdictions. The split vote of anti-NR forces would work to NR's advantage.

However, before the vote, the France's leftwing and Macron's allegedly "centrist" party began making deals, arranging for candidates to withdraw from the race. In one jurisdiction, the leftwing coalition called "New Popular Front" would drop out, thus leaving the candidate from Macron's party, Ensemble!, as the only opponent to the NR candidate. In other jurisdictions, the Ensemble! candidate would drop out, leaving the National Popular Front candidate alone to face National Rally.

The net result is that while National Rally gained a lot of seats, they didn't gain anything close to a majority. In fact, they came out the third-biggest party, after the communist/socialist alliance of New Popular Front and the "centrist" Ensemble!

And now the alleged "technocrat moderate centrist" Macron is forming a coalition with the leftwing extremists he pretended to oppose.

Just great news for the French.

On Sunday night, joy: French voters had, once again, kept the far right out of power.

On Monday morning, uncertainty: A hung parliament, shaky alliances and the threat of turbulent years ahead.

President Emmanuel Macron called France's snap parliamentary election to "clarify" the political situation. But after the shock second-round results, the waters are more muddied than they have been in decades.

While a surge in support for the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) coalition foiled Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally (RN) party, French politics is now more disordered than it was before the vote.

Note that Le Pen's party won a plurality of the vote -- more votes than any other party.

However, thanks to deal-making and tactical voting, her party won only the third-most seats.

frenchvotevsseats.jpg

Note that the formerly dominant "center-right" party, which had previously been the largest right-leaning party, only got 5% of the vote.

May the British Tories go the same way.

After the National Rally "won" the first round of voting, the left rioted.

Now, after National Rally is blocked from winning the Assembly, do the "far right extremists" now riot?

Nope! The non-extremist alliance of communists and Islamists rioted again!

They riot when they lose, they riot when they win.

1 Speaking of France, Joe Biden brought up that country this morning on his call to 'Morning Joe'

"I'm not letting up, Joe. I'm not letting up a little bit, and by the way, you know, you know, France registered, you know, look, you talk about Europe..."

He has a very strong grasp and command of what is going on there.

7 Worst possible result for Macron, never mind the French. If he betrays the PF parties, they will never work with him again. If he accepts them, his centrist programs are shot.

Melenchon HATES Israel, so maybe he won't shift to RN. But if his large party is shut out of government, maybe he will. And maybe LePen will decide that her pro-Israel policy was a mistake that didn't really pay off.

Brutal times ahead.

15 So, nearly 60% voted for the "right-leaning" parties, but the left-leaning party gains complete control because the center-right would rather see the far left with total control than to work with their far right.

The only conclusion must be that the far right are literal Nazis who want to exterminate Jews.

I'm sure that the far left doesn't share such a goal, otherwise the center-right wouldn't have aligned with them.

The BBC:

"I'm so relieved," grinned university student Sarah Bennani, 19, moments after the results were broadcast.

"When I go home tonight, I won't be afraid that someone grabs my hijab," she continued, accusing the far-right National Rally – which could only manage third place in these elections - of fuelling racism, and racist attacks across France.

93 Macron's man, Attal, announced he was resigning as prime minister after the results were in. The he unpromised to resign, so at the moment, Macron's man is still the titular prime minister.

Until he faces a vote of confidence. I can't imagine that the NFP, has more seats than Ensemble, is going to sit still for a Macron man as PM. The NFP is a cobbled up entity consisting of Socialists, Antifa (France Unbowed), Communists, and other assorted organized lunatics.

Before the second round balloting, Attal stated that he would NOT head a coalition government that included the Communist Party (and I'd assume France Unbowed). We'll see.

2/3 of the French electorate did not vote for the Left. France is now a hard right country.

If the more conservative MPs that lost move to Reform for the inevitable by elections--the Tories might just become like the Progressive Conservative party in Canada in another election cycle.

Don't make the same mistake that blacks do. Urban areas with masses of people do not reflect a country's demographics very accurately. Most of the recent illegals end up in cities because that is where the bennies are and their country buddies are.

UK has about 6 percent Islam but it is clustered in cities and due to low turnout local elections--like the US, a cohesive small political block can win power. Not the same nationally.

The big cities in the US often trend toward majority black over time even to overwhelming percentages in places like Memphis and St. Louis. But blacks are actually a stagnant or even shrinking part of the overall US electorate at about 12-13 percent or so of the population. But probably about 50-60 percent of that is in urban cities and inner suburbs. Hispanics are more broadly distributed.

What happened in France is typical of our phony republics - their structures always guard against any kind of reform.

They won't like it because how cheap drones are becoming. Drones are accounting for a large percentage now of the casualties in the Ukraine Russia conflict. Bad times like the last 30-40 years of the Russian Empire under the Romanovs led to widespread assassinations as a tactic by nihilists and they were directed at the ruling class.

We just might see something like that happen in the West and low priced drones can make that quite possible even better than the cheap handguns and bombs used by the nihilists.

Nah, the Hispanics are taking over.

Chicago used to be 39% black. Now, 29%, and there are more Hispanics than blacks in Chicago.

If there was unity already about who would replace Biden, I'd say that they could pull it off.

There isn't unity, though. Primaries have a very good function of getting different factions to settle for the compromise choice.

Eschewing the primary was a mistake, but it's common for incumbents. Biden, though...probably needed a healthy primary.

Any opposition party to the Dems in California or the West Coast would do far better to eschew being GOP at all in both state and national elections in those states. Start a new party from the groundwork and keep the uniparty assholes from being able to kill it. Depends on the conviction terms in the Senate, I guess.

Which would present questionable constitutional limits. Since the constitution outlines the requirements for president, and since the constitution doesn't say "All that, plus not having been convicted after impeachment," I'd guess that SCOTUS would end up siding with the president running again.

Hell, still kick him out but have a performative primary where Gretchen Whitmer says, "I think Biden is a great president, but it's time for the next generation to continue his work."

Even if Biden glides to victory, getting to this point and having a healthier fallback like a Whitmer coming second in a perfunctory primary would be a better position than where they find themselves now.

It doesn’t matter at this point. You have to pick either Newsom or Kamala you can’t have both. That is, notwithstanding he’s an oily character who destroyed California. Whitmer is a terrible candidate and polls with toe fungus. There were a few other governors mentioned but none have great name recognition or good records to run on. They don’t even have a deep bench for the next election. Democrats went all out on forcing their agenda down the throats of Americans, and it’s destroying things in a spectacular, insidious way. Now their go to move is to say democracy is at stake, meaning taking them out of power will swing us back towards liberty and the forces of balance that have kept this nation running since the founding of our democratic republic. There isn’t a single good thing to say about anything they’ve done- and that’s their real problem. What they have done is destructive on every single front. That is their real problem.

Macron's Attala said that Ensemble will not form a coalition government with the NFP if it includes the Communists. So under the current conditions, no one will form a coalition with the NFP.

The new Parliament meets on July 18, and Macron is term-lmited and leaves the presidency by May, 2027. The earliest a new parliamentary election can take place is June, 2025. So, one year of fun and games and carbecues.

Nah, the Hispanics are taking over.

Chicago used to be 39% black. Now, 29%, and there are more Hispanics than blacks in Chicago.
Posted by: The ARC of History!
===========
Chicago is an interesting phenomenon but hardly universal (btw, you have to disentangle Chicago city proper from the metro Cook county--the city itself is still about 30 percent black fwiw) which is slightly lower than the 32.3 percent of whites still in the city. About 28.7 percent is Hispanic.

It had a long history for whatever reason as being hispanic friendly and Chicanos used to be the more popular political term for them there.

The blacks and hispanics in some cases have moved to the inner city suburbs which makes the overall distribution lumpy--blacks in inner city suburbs are concentrated on the south side and east, hispanics and whites toward the west and north.

Statistical atlas dot com is your friend on such matters.

Hispanics due to politics at the Census Bureau is a piss poor descriptor simply because many of the 2nd or 3rd generation from Latin America are more or less 'white' in fact as well as the Census bureau description. If there was no DIE gains to be had, I would guess a substantial portion of White Hispanics would suddenly identify as White only.

Many of the illegals, if you had truth in ethnic descriptors have more Native American aka Indian blood than Creole Spanish blood. So you get weird bimodal distributions. Then you have national differences along with ethnic issues even inside those nations.

Actually, many of those inner city types that have a brain are and have been more astute about analyzing politics than the rubes in the sticks. To them, it is more about getting paid than the various speechifying about principles. If you have ever talked to many of them, they are just as cynical about their pols as any conservative is about the GOP. The reason they vote or sell their vote is that their loyalty is to themselves and politics is purely transactional to them. Democrats will pay--GOP won't so they vote DEM. They stay at home if the Dems don't pay.

I have seen on the GOP side, many 'conservatives' blather on about muh principles while ignoring the ass raping given to the public by rancid GOPe types in office that are personally and politically corrupt. Then it is justified such as shitbird McConnell's muh judges or other such bullshit.

The difference is that street level type Dems vote their interests which are more directly in line with getting paid. A lot of GOP street level type voters have their own self interests affecting their vote including being paid.

358 Macron's 'centrist' allies are no different than establishment republicans here. No different.

As your 'favorite' Sundance over at the Last Refuge says:

"There are trillions at stake." and the political cartels are no different than their partners selling coke.

362 Any thing with coalitions of lots of parties, multiple elections or proportional representation is a recipe for Deep State taking over the elections.

City Dems mostly don't vote at all. They have the machine do it for them. Look at how few votes AOC had to get to unseat the 2nd or 3rd most powerful Dem Congressman.

364 Congressman Brad Sherman
@BradSherman
Counter to popular belief, the rules of the Democratic Party do NOT require that pledged delegates vote for Biden at the convention. Party rules require delegates’ votes, “reflect the sentiments of those who elected them,” at the time the delegates cast their ballots. (2/3)

________

I think that is a toxic cocktail of bullshit and hopeium. The rules do require the delegates to vote for Biden, unless he expressly releases them. That's the very basis of the rules and why the Dems are in such a bind. Could I be wrong about this? Yes. But I don't think I am.

Certainly wasn't true when the Supers betrayed Hillary and went for Obama and she fell behind him in vote count. There was no mention of trying to turn delegates on the floor, and their would have been at least an attempt.

There's rumors that Sunak, deposed Emperor of the UK is intending to move to the US after the worst electoral loss in Brit History.

366 Wow. It sure sounds a lot like how things work in the Republican Party of the United States.
Conservative candidates - Tea Party or MAGA - win state primaries but Republican Party "Leadership" figures with last names beginning in Mc (McConnell, McCarthy, McCain) do everything they can to undermine those candidates, ensuring their defeat in the general election, so the Uni-Party can stay entrenched.
Seems like France has some similar puppet masters running behind the scenes. Globalists are calculating, manipulative, evil scum!
