UK election results are almost complete.

- What will come first, the next election, when Reform might actually be a serious contender? Or GB's suicide? Posted by: Biden's Dog sniffs a whole lotta malarkey, at July 05, 2024 04:14 AM (FDPsr) 5
Well, that is disappointing as reformed was supposed to win 13 seats. You see this in almost every nation in the western world where anyone who is conservative and not a globalist is demonized and made out to be the worst thing that ever happened. They bring everyone from the most radical communists to just plain jag offs together, and they defeat the people that actually want to protect the country.
My expectation for France is the rally national will also come up short because their enemies are pretty much everyone else that exists on this planet. How cool would it be? If so many rallied against the hard left that has caused us so much pain. When the conservatives actually win in Italy, it is almost unreported and is ignored by the world media. Great the UK is now hard left, What’s next Shariah Law and place of the Magna Carta? Posted by: Quint at July 05, 2024 04:17 AM (oQ8mt) 6
4 he seems pleased about it. France is moving right Italy has already moved right Spain has some serious Trump type conservatives who run major cities there and the left in Spain is not the majority. In Hungary, the right has one in many other European countries. The right is ascendant.
Show me a western European country where the new left is growing outside of the UK, which had a fake conservative party called ironically the conservative party. Posted by: Quint at July 05, 2024 04:23 AM (oQ8mt) 7
Tony Blair was more of a British patriot than that absurdity who ran the so-called conservative party in Britain right into the ground. I had a short correspondence with Tony Blair, not that that matters, and you can’t go back in time, but he was more of a brit and more of a supporter of western civilization than Sunak. The guy who just got drubbed.

10, he was. But he was also an ardent patriot, and he is still a very default catholic. I certainly didn’t always agree with him, but I did respect him over various issues. I thought he was right about the Bosnia War and I actually lost friends over that issue. Aside from all that again, I know Blair as a patriot and when you look at the modern left today and what we are facing around the world, they’re very few patriots on the left. And to be clear, I disagreed with Blair on 90% of the issues at that time.

I never supported labor. They are awful. I just grew a grudging respect for Blair over some issues over quite a long time. I look at labor today and these guys would destroy Israel if they could. Blair tried to be the UK version of Clinton and it turned out to be bigger on the world stage than Clinton himself. But both parties rejected the third way that Blair and Clinton prescribed, The left is hard left, and they always will be.
You don’t even see leftist in America bringing up Bill Clinton today and trust me. No one disliked Bill Clinton more than my family and myself. But to fully understand what has happened Bill Clinton’s version of politics today would be thrown in with the far right by the freaks that run the Democratic Party today. I give Tony Blair credit for trying to maintain the "Special Relationship" between our two nations at some rather difficult moments. Obama did a lot to damage that, but it's a bond that goes all the way back to the end of the War of 1812 and that became more formal and accepted during WWI and WWII. It can be strong again with the right leadership.

The Last Great conservative party leader with Thatcher. After her, John Major was terrible, but there were many others that were truly awful. I remember some of them were virulently anti-American. Obviously, the UK is conservative by nature because these idiots stayed in power so long.
It is like the so-called French conservative party over the last 20 years. They were literally some of the worst people ever. Most historians say François Mitterand, Was the most pro American French leader, And he was a liberal. Politics is tough enough and when you throw in the international part, it gets tougher. So-called conservatives in Europe, don’t always mean people that support the USA. Posted by: Quint at July 05, 2024 04:55 AM (oQ8mt) 28

29, trust me, I couldn’t think of lower of Clinton, My parents, particularly my father, despise the man. But if you look at the actual positions, Clinton put forth in that era, There is no chance he could win a Democrat primary today because his positions would be considered far right. That shows how far the Overton window has moved over the years.
Clinton was always terrible, But we have to recognize that the left we are seeing today would never except Clinton. They would consider him extreme, right. Maybe he would warp I don’t doubt that, But we have to have context here and what we’re dealing with today is something different. I think Hillary actually is the true leftist of that sad couple. No doubt, Bill would change his views to win just like he said, but when it comes to being a true red flag carrier, it was always Hillary. Posted by: Quint at July 05, 2024 05:10 AM (oQ8mt) 35

Since I said I had opinions, the Milosevic takedown, despite all my Lefty Balkan friends waxing nostalgic about Mass Protests Of The People, was an inside rotation by the Security Services/BIA. They rotated Slobodan out, as he had become a liability, and allowed elections, putting in Djindjic who at the time, nobody liked. Then BIA assassinated Djindjic, at which time everybody announced he was a Hero Of The People (which nobody thought until he was, you know, dead) and installed Vucic, who is still there until BIA decides to get rid of him.

56, Americans right and left still say Presidents’ Day is the national holiday. It is shocking how easy it is to manipulate people and to get them to believe something just because everyone else is saying it when all they have to do is look at the federal calendar and then they would know it is not true.
But I hear you the democracy thing is ridiculous. This may be wishful thinking, but I think that that line about saving democracy is getting really old with people. There is an inherent flaw in the argument. If you tell people the only way to save democracy is to vote for only one party and not have a choice, That should stand out as a major red flag. They don’t want to protect democracy they want to protect Democrats. Posted by: Quint at July 05, 2024 05:30 AM (oQ8mt) 57

To place a line border around an image in LibreOffice, rightclick on the image; choose Properties; open Borders tab; click the 2nd Preset; choose style, width, and color; make sure Padding is at 0.00; press OK. This puts a border around your image. Posted by: LenNeal at July 05, 2024 05:57 AM (43xH1) 74

Nice! We've only been here like 3 days, but the Opera House has been the best so far. Taking the kiddos to the zoo (Taronga Zoo) tomorrow. Apparently Taronga is the more recommended one because it's bigger and you can get there by a water taxi/ferry (another thing for the kids) from the harbor.
Yes, catching the ferry from Circular Quay is definitely the way to go. Posted by: Pixy Misa at July 05, 2024 06:21 AM (BLOW1) 90

The Energy piece was set off by my Balkan brother revealing after his personal tragedy he did not believe in God. He rather believe(d/s) in an Energy source that animates all things, leading to a logic cascade that denied the possibility of his deceased, existing in an afterlife; itself causing a personal crisis of belief. I would not be doing this otherwise. It's a PIA.
What really hit me was his belief is not Modern! I identified it as a refined form of ancient Paganism, so old I can't find an origination point. While Science-ey people like Einstein regarded their Energy beliefs as a step PAST a monotheistic God, my exhaustive research indicates it's the step BEFORE a codified God-belief. This 'Energy-Is-Everything' cosmology has been around a very, very, very long time and looooong predates the introduction of a single, monotheistic God in the Balkans. It's not new and it's not any kind of sooper-smart refinement. Posted by: LenNeal at July 05, 2024 06:29 AM (43xH1) 96

The first thing I learned about ebook management is Calibre.
Do not lock yourself into a store. Ever. Use ePubor for DRM. Use the .epub file format for all your fiction novels. There are publications that demand .pdf file formats and that's OK, too. Use Sigil and PageEdit for editing .epub files. KoReader is working on Kobo color readers and will soon be ready. KoReader is your friend, and the only way you'll get file and folder hierarchies in your book library on an ereader. The most acceptable .epub and .pdf document reader on Windows is the open source SumatraPDF. Posted by: Jim at July 05, 2024 07:36 AM (zhWvq) 102
>>>Redefining Independence Day.
Obama - “The Fourth of July is about celebrating the big, bold, inclusive experiment that is our American democracy.” Samantha Power USAID: -Today, we not only celebrate the US’ founding ideal of a government for the people, by the people, but we celebrate the people who pushed over centuries for it to apply to all Americans—to build a country where everyone could live safely & freely to actively shape the future. America's meddling in Bosnia was Madeleine Albright's (Marie Jana Körbelová, daughter of a Czech ambassador to Yugoslavia) hijack of foreign policy to prosecute her intense, personal partisan interest in the region. She was the very model of an activist globalist warmonger.

Is there such a thing as a non-dedicated e-reader? I have a Kindle, and it refuses to recognize epubs. (It also claims not to be able to recognizes eps's, but it lies - it can. It just won't let you download them from the web.) Calibre does a nice job in converting epubs to Kindle format, but it's a bother. Or maybe I should just buy a tablet and be done with it?

There are some Android tablets with e-ink screens. Those have a different problem - Android isn't really designed for e-ink - but they let you install standard Android apps so you can have every reader on one device.
