The Green Energy Transition Is Happening Without Working

According to an energy expert, the green energy utopia isn’t happening any time soon. Wind and solar have only created problems.

Brent Bennett with the Texas Public Policy Foundation told KTRH, “What’s happening with our policy is essentially the government trying to predict the future. They’re trying to say, ‘These technologies are gonna be IT, and this is what we need, so we’re gonna pour a bunch of money into them.”

People change after 47-50 years. Jill Biden's ex-husband calls her out for defending 'struggling' Joe Biden, 'keeping him in the race'

The first lady commended her husband's debate performance

The first lady's steadfast support of President Biden after his heavily criticized debate performance Thursday may seem admirable to some Americans, but not all of them.

Bill Stevenson, who was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975, candidly discussed his ex-wife in an interview with the New York Post Saturday.

"The Dr. Jill Biden who I’ve seen on TV in the last five years is not the same person I married or that I recognize in any way," Stevenson lamented. "She’s matriculated into a completely different woman."

Late breaking Sunday afternoon news:
Justice Department Planning Fraud Charge Against Boeing

TOPLINE The Justice Department is planning to charge Boeing with fraud after prosecutors said the company failed to implement an agreed upon anti-fraud compliance program following two fatal plane crashes that killed 346 people in 2018 and 2019, according to multiple reports, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

I haven't reviewed the entire matter. However, any lawsuits brought by the current DOJ has a certain odor to it. The DOJ which lets entire neighborhoods be burnt and looted while incarcerating senior citizens which use their 1st Amendment rights at abortion murder clinics is suspect.

81 live newts. Amphebians and not Gingrichs

TAHOE CITY, Calif. - A Northern California man has pleaded guilty for his part in an international amphibian smuggling ring, federal authorities said.

Tahoe City resident Andrew Laughlin pleaded guilty on Monday to acting as a middleman in an international amphibian smuggling ring where he would find and possess "hard-to-find newts," according to officers with the Department of Justice.

The 47-year-old admitted to an undercover agent that he shipped or received amphibians in packages purposely mislabeled as "toy cars, rubber toys," or "ceramic art pieces" when they actually contained animals like Eastern Box turtles, spotted turtles, fire belly newts, Asian warty newts, or newts local to California.

14 Big news of the day is Le Pen's party absolutely dominated in the first round of French elections. They are on track to claim an outright majority in the second round. Macron and the socialist party are colluding to have their candidates drop out if it can help keep a Le Pen candidate from winning.

Riots have broken out in Paris as the leftists and Muslim celebrate democracy.

The socialist leader has lost his seat to Le Pen's party.

26 Shortened version of squirrel panel discussion while milking this morning:
Old Joe has no intention of stepping aside. The Dem powers that be can't force him. 25th amendment? Highly unlikely, IMO, because that would potentially be an unmitigated disaster resulting in a bigger landslide. From the Dems POV, who is the unproductive, unloved excess baggage? Kamala, that's who. No one wants her sitting behind the Resolute desk. People who vote Biden are essentially voting for her as President, that's one thing the debate made glaringly clear. There are no barriers, outside of optics, to prevent that. Her replacement? The same one I mentioned Friday, Maryland governor Wes Moore. He's an Obama clone and a vet. Most importantly he's relatively unknown outside of Maryland and Dem power circles. That's a plus because it makes it more difficult to saddle him with garbage.

31 Finally, a little DiF speculation. I've been trying to figure out how the Dems are going to try to cheat this time, given that it is a really tough lift to repeat 2020 ballot fraud without Covid as an excuse. I've been skeptical of the illegals are going to vote theory as well. Not that I don't think they will, but I don't think there are enough to swing it.

I have a guess on what the strategy is going to be. Of course, the Dems will try their best to cheat, but if they can't hold the blue wall, then they will be focused on flipping the House. If they get control of the House, then they are going to refuse to certify the election. They are going to point to the J6 report and say they can't certify the election of an insurrectionist.

Posted by: Dave in Fla at June 30, 2024 10:07 PM (5p7BC)

32 For those who care what the frogs did today:

As predicted, Marine Le Pen's National Rally (RN) got a major victory in the first round of voting for the National Assembly, taking 33-34% of the vote, compared to 28-29% for the leftist New Popular Front and 20% for Macron's ""centrist""" bloc. (Amusingly, the head of the French Communist Party was totally wiped out in his district by a RN contender.)

Of the 577 seats up for grabs, RN won 39 outright--with an absolute majority, that is--and is in a position to win a lot more next Sunday in all the districts that lacked an outright winner and now face a runoff. Most predictions have the party ending up just short of the 289 that would give it a majority in the Assembly, but we'll see.

Meanwhile, the commies and the Muslims are rioting in Paris and other major cities, because of course they are.

46 Well, this has been the most hilarious 48 hours in American politics in years.

Let's recap:

1) Biden does terribly at the debate.

2) The Establishment Media launches an obviously coordinated campaign to force Biden to withdraw, in light of the bad debate outcome, with many articles and editorials explaining how senile Joe is.

3) Biden, egged on by DOCTOR Jill and Hunter, utterly predictably refuses to withdraw.

So, now what do they do? Does the media go back to pretending that Joe just has a "stutter", and hope that everyone forgets the editorials they wrote demanding that Biden withdraw?

Did they forget the old aphorism: "If you shoot at the King, you'd better not miss."

This is the worst possible outcome for the Democratic Party - they've delegitimized their candidate, without successfully forcing the candidate to withdraw.

Again, our opponents aren't Bond villains - they are mediocrities that got to where they are through personal connections, not competence.

The Dems forgot their own history. The only man they actually forced out of the presidency was Nixon, who for all his faults believed the good of the country was more important than fighting to stay in power.

If you get a man like Biden who *only* cares about staying in power, there isn't a heck of a lot you can do to force him out. If he doesn't want to leave, publicly humiliating him and informing him of the party consensus doesn't mean jack. Possession is nine-tenths of the law, even in public office.

Thanks DiF!

By the way, your description this morning of a rift between the media and the Democrats had me intrigued; it confirmed some of what I'd noticed in news coverage the last couple days.

I think part of the explanation may be that the legacy media is desperate to keep at least the illusion of objectivity, and they can't do that if they keep covering for Biden so blatantly. Ideology's one thing, ego's another.

82 Having Biden's dementia completely exposed before Trump spends the evening of the 11th in Rikers' just reemphasizes how political this all is.

I've wondered what sort of mass nonviolent protest would be appropriate when Trump gets jailed.

I guess part of that is how fast the appeals spring Trump - I'm sure the New York court system would argue that it should be able to spend a couple of months considering the appeal before the US Supreme Court could claim jurisdiction.

98 True Independence Day story for the Horde:
My Grandfather was a Natural-born (June, 1904) American citizen. When his parents returned to Italy with his younger siblings, Nonno Tony went along with them. He was subsequently seized - under violent threat to his family - by the Italian Army and pressed into service as a medic. While stationed at Pisa, Nonno walked into the US Consulate office and was soon on his way back home to America. However, officials at Ellis Island held this American citizen in a cell - on July 4th Grandpa looked out his cell window toward the New York harbor uncertain if he would be allowed back into his native land. He was put on trial, exonerated and finally released back into the USA on July 5, 1926.

There's no way that anybody in that camp is telling O'Reilly (of all people) anything, first of all. After Bongino torched him, he's looking to make himself relevant again.

Secondly, if Biden drops out of the campaign due to infirmity, it will inevitably lead to the question of how he'd be fit to finish his term as POTUS. That would be very bad for the Dems.

They removed a clot from her brain. She seems back to normal.

153 >>Jack - You saw my speculation last night. I think this was a deep state coup on Biden. It hasn't really failed yet, if the ultimate goal is to make sure he loses.

I did. I'm not sure I totally agree that this was intentional.

There was a lot of speculation here prior to the debate that Trump made a huge mistake agreeing to this debate. Trump didn't agree to the debate, he baited Joe into this debate because he wanted him on that stage.

I've been around dementia and the idea that there is some magic potion that makes someone who suffers from it lucid on demand is absurd. Anyone who has watched Joe over the last couple of years has seen him decline rapidly. And I sure don't think the swamp wants him to lose to Trump.

Sometimes a puppet starts to think he's a real boy. Joe has always had an inflated opinion of his abilities. I think this was a massive own goal by someone too stupid and arrogant to know better. Leftists aren't omnipotent, they are wearing their asses for hats all over the world these days.

And mandatory drug tests.

If either fails, the debate is off but the timeslot remains, and whoever failed the drug test can go first, speak extemporaneously for 45 minutes, then it is the other's turn.

It's not the Russians press-ganging people off of the street.

(Although the pro-Uke accounts have shown video of the Russians rounding up Central Asian illegal immigrants after the Crocus Town Hall terrorist attack, claiming that this shows people being press-ganged into the Russian army.)

The interesting thing is that the Russians didn't mobilize more men after the 300,000 call-up early in the war - there was speculation that Putin would announce another mobilization after he was safely reelected.

If the DEMs re-take the House, I also don't believe that a majority of the ENTIRE House would try to bar Trump's inauguration by refusing to certify.

That's Squad stuff. I just don't believe that EVERY DEM in the House (which is what they'd need; not just the Squad) would want to assume that political risk.

Because NOW you'd be talking Constitutional crisis... and how!

I watched a focus group reaction to the debate. When Spongebrain Soiledpants started talking (at some length!) about Trump having called our troops "suckers & losers" during a planned visit to a military cemetery, the focus group needle PLUNGED like a thermometer at the South Pole! No like-e! Not one bit!

Now, imagine how the public would respond to the House DEMs, all by themselves, blocking the inauguration of a duly elected President? That a plurality of the voters, and a majority of the states, just voted for?

The DEMs in the House won't go there for fear of the electoral consequences to THEMSELVES, I suspect.

They weren't of Blazing Saddles" and Young Frankenstein" quality, but "Spaceballs," "Robin Hood: Men In Tights," and "Dracula: Dead And Loving It" did manage to capture some of the old Brooks magic, which seemed to have deserted him since "History of the World: Part I." The tropes are there, and the parody of film genres echo what worked in the past.

If you factor in James Jesus Angleton's mole hunt behind the scenes at Langley, things get even more sinister. Angleton's paranoia about KGB infiltration of the CIA. whether it was justified or not, had a lot of repercussions, and Colby's curious death could possibly be tied into that. Interestingly, Angleton reach out to William F. Buckley to help him write a book called New Lies For Old predicting the USSR would fake their collapse to gain an advantage over the West.

Posted by: Dr. T at June 30, 2024 10:19 PM (jGGMD)

I think it's more the internal fighting that has been going on just resurfaced. We've seen a couple of times recently where the media seemed to think the "Get Biden out!" faction seemed to pull ahead and were willing to do negative pieces on him. Then those pieces stop appearing as the "Mrs Wilson Dr Jill" faction reasserts itself. I think they assumed the "Dr Jill" faction was going to lose out this time and jumped out in front of the decision. It might be that the debate performance will cripple the "Dr Jill" front and the fight becomes how to eliminate Kamala from the picture, but they're not giving up.

Auburn didn't beat Medicare, though. That would really have been something.

A couple or so of the Louis L'Amour novels featured storylines of the conflicts between the Loggers and Cowboys. He didn't spare on the details of the savagery of either, though he clearly did favor the cowboy side of the stories.

Let's just say....

The Loggers and the Cowboys really didn't like each other very much.

But needed one another, even more.

Each needed the other's market and trade. And each RESENTED the other's every aspect of their respective lives, and thought themselves the better, in compare.

Those disagreements, often went physical, stabby, ballistic and worse.... political.

Ugly times, those. Ugly times. Sound familiar?

377 The Bidens had a photo session at Camp David, I look forward to the photos of a taut, muscular Joe executing perfect triple twist dives into the pool

All in the nude, of course.

I've seen that movie. It's called The Triple Lindy.

379 Hmm. To continue the Star Trek themes from the Book Thread.... I just watched Episode One from "Star Trek Continues," only because Michael Forest reprised his role of Apollo in it. The sets looked ok, the music was from TOS, and it had what looked like remastered Enterprise shots. The actors were just a bit off, and the costumes were ill-fitting. I've never watched any of the previous incarnation spin offs since the TNG movie where Kirk dies. Have no interest in the new stuff, either.

It wasn't bad, but I'm not going to watch anymore of them. Mr. Scott was played by Doohan's son, so he sort of looked right, but the faces and voices just didn't do anything for me. Others may like it, but, meh.

380 Off to bed, Horde, enjoy the rest of the ONT and have a good day tomorrow, er, today!!

381 Morning, insomaniacals! About time for the Tech Thread, so I'll just say I got about enough sleep last night. It rained a little yesterday evening around six, so it's possible -- *possible*, mind -- that the heat index now is less than 90 F. If I look and see it's more, I'll be discouraged from my workout. I'd better wait.

How's it goin'?

383 121 Probably changed her a whole lot given the hints of dysfunction we've seen through Hunter and Ashley's laptops and diary, respectively. That corrodes one's soul. . .
