Kansas AG Kris Kobach Accuses Pfizer of Concealing Covid-19 Non-Vaccine's Risk of Miscarriage

Pfizer was given immunity (by Trump, alas) from lawsuits due to injuries from the vaccine.

Kobach is filing a lawsuit not for damages for injuries, but for violating the state's consumer protection law with its false and misleading claims.

Attorney General Kris Kobach filed a civil lawsuit Monday against pharmaceutical company Pfizer, alleging that "Pfizer misled the public that it had a 'safe and effective' COVID-19 vaccine," violating the state's Consumer Protection Act.
The state seeks "civil monetary penalties, damages, and injunctive relief from misleading and deceptive statements made in marketing its COVID-19 vaccine," Kobach said.
In the complaint, Kobach alleges that Pfizer willfully concealed, suppressed and omitted material facts relating to the COVID-19 vaccine, the "most egregious" ones regarding safety of the vaccine for pregnant people, in regard to heart conditions, its effectiveness against variants and its ability to stop transmission.
"Pfizer marketed its vaccine as safe for pregnant women," Kobach said. "However, in February of 2021 (they) possessed reports of 458 pregnant women who received Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy. More than half of the pregnant women reported an adverse event, and more than 10% reported a miscarriage."

Wow, is that true? If it is true, how is not the biggest news in the world?

The percentage of "adverse events" -- which is a term that means any negative reaction -- was higher in pregnant women than the general population by roughly 17 percent, according to a study published in the journal Medicine in February 2022.
An earlier study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in April 2021 offered preliminary findings that did not show any significant safety concerns among pregnant individuals who received the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, indicating that observed miscarriages were not unusual and likely not a direct result of the vaccine.

"Likely" not a "direct" result.

Lot of hedging there.

Why wouldn't they just admit that there were some signs it might be unsafe for pregnant women?

Russell Brand points out that pregnant women are not a huge demographic, so it wouldn't have cost Pfizer much to offer a warning to pregnant women.

So why didn't they? Brand's theory is that they didn't want to admit a risk to anyone -- if there were widespread vaccine skepticism, that would cost them some money -- so all risks had to be covered up.

And of course there's the risk of myocarditis and pericarditis.

Kobach says that Pfizer marketed the vaccine as safe in terms of heart conditions such as myocarditis and pericarditis. He referenced a question Albert Bourla, Pfizer CEO was asked in January 2023 of if the vaccine caused severe myocarditis, to which Bourla responded "we have not seen a single signal, although we have distributed billions of doses."

I don't know if the grant of immunity covers a lawsuit alleging false claims. If it doesn't, this lawsuit could be interesting.

I would still prosecute them for damage for injuries - make them argue in court that because Biden protected them they don't have to pay.

22 I doubt very much that fraud or false filings are a way around the grant of immunity, because if it was the exception (for fraud) would swallow the rule (immunity). Basically, instead of a grant of immunity, it would be transformed into a pleading requirement that claims be framed as fraud rather than as a marketing defect or other type of product-liability claim.

Apart from that, there is no political will to go down this path by and large. Our own preferred presidential candidate agreed to immunity, is proud of operation warpspeed or whatever it was called, and is not likely to reconsider his position on the vaccines.

I still think the vaxx killed my sister. That and the awful "treatment" at the hospital.

Ironically, the J&J vaccine was pulled because of danger to people's heart.

It was far less experimental than the MRNA ones, as it used a virus to deliver the protein, rather than rewriting your own genes.

So of course it had to be stopped.

Trump granting immunity to the drug companies was about as CEO a decision as ever made. Trump was being told what we were, that the Spanish Flu would have nothing on what was coming, and Trump said fix it. People started explaining to him why a vaccine couldn’t roll out that quickly, barrier this, barrier that. Trump said remove the barriers and do it. Don’t tell me why you can’t, go show me how you can. This is always followed by a very hard stare around the whole table. Had it worked, it would have been great. But it didn’t. Yes, my employer threatened us with job loss if we didn't do it or get a religious or health exemption. I doubted I could sell the latter, so I went with the former. They accepted it. Two NASA astronauts are still orbiting Earth on the International Space Station, going on two weeks since they were supposed to be back on land.

Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Suni Williams remain on the ISS as Boeing and NASA engineers work to fix a series of helium leaks on the Boeing Starliner spacecraft that ferried them into space on its first crewed voyage.

Starliner, which had been delayed several times before its June 5 liftoff, experienced some thruster issues en route to the ISS in addition to the helium leaks, though NASA says the spacecraft has been "performing well in orbit while docked to the space station."

The space agency also said Wilmore and Williams are not "stranded" as they could undock and fly home at any time if deemed necessary. They are being kept in orbit passed their planned return to "allow mission teams time to review propulsion system data."

The Starliner can spend up to 45 days docked to the space station.

MIss Linda had the chickenpox as an adult some years ago, and I -- a former sufferer, back when I was 11 -- tended her. We'd hoped that might give my immune system that same boost. The USPS in my experience is filled with ex military padding out their pension, ex teachers who decided to leave the profession, and people who are willing to say no and be impolite about kicking up a fuss. And their union is still modeled on the old Teamsters model. If they had decided to strike, they would have created a real problem

Vaccine manufacturers have long (since the 80s, IIRC) enjoyed immunity from liability lawsuits. Vaccines are not particularly profitable, and manufacturers used to make them essentially as a public service. But then the John Edwards types started suing the crap out of them, parading little Timmy in front of a blubbing jury that was adding zeroes onto the end of the damages, while the plaintiff's lawyers were perusing yacht catalogues. (How exactly could you prove that a vaccine didn't cause little Timmy's problems?)

As a result of massive damages being awarded, vaccine manufacturers were actually losing money, so they were getting out of the vaccine business.

To keep them leaving the business, they were given immunity from such lawsuits on the grounds that it was in society's interest to continue to have access to vaccines.

Post office is actually listed in the constitution. Lysander Spooner got it to reorganize itself by starting the American Letter Company as a competing business, but he got sued by the government until he was broke. It did make the USPO reduce rates and increase service.

No, he was the abolitionist lawyer from Massachusetts who wrote The Unconstitutionality of Slavery in 1845 in opposition to abolitionists like Henry Lloyd Garrison, and later wrote against the discrimination against Southern states post Civil war.
He also wrote a great deal about money, government and economics from the view of contract law and natural law concepts. He inspired later writers of a more anarchic bent, but he himself did defend institutions as long as they were not in violation of their obligations or violating individual rights.

So pregnant womem who got the mRNA shot after 20 weeks cluld not, by definition, have miscarriages.

What the authors of that study did was hide the fact that 83% of women who got the shot BEFORE 20 weeks of gestation lost their pregnancies within a month. The authors hid this fact by adding in 7 times the number of pregnant women who got the shot AFTER 20 weeks than the roughly 130-140 women who got the shot before 20 weeks. Since the latter group could not by definition have misscarriages, that (falsely) made it look like the miscarriage rate was the same as naturally occuring misvarriages.

You had to read the actual study and unxerstand how the authors wsre misapplying medical definitions to come up with their blatant lie.
