  • Meritocracy is bad, say people without merit. (Tech Crunch)
"The post is misguided because people who support the meritocracy argument are ignoring the structural reasons some groups are more likely to outperform others," Mutale Nkonde, a founder working in AI policy, told TechCrunch.
"A founder working in AI policy" is code for oxygen thief.
"We all want the best people for the job, and there is data to prove that diverse teams are more effective."
If they are more effective, then by definition, they are at the top of a meritocracy.

The problem is, they're not, and you know they're not, but you are not allowed to admit it.
Emily Witko, an HR professional at AI startup Hugging Face
    Oxygen thief.
told TechCrunch that the post was a "dangerous oversimplification," but that it received so much attention on X because it "openly expressed sentiments that are not always expressed publicly and the audience there is hungry to attack DEI." Wang's MEI thought "makes it so easy to refute or criticize any conversations regarding the importance of acknowledging underrepresentation in tech," she continued.
Well, yes, because DEI is fraudulent.

Hololive is an all-female 24-hour improv comedy channel with a side order of music. Hakos Baelz (Bae) is the avatar of chaos within a group that is 99% pure chaos to begin with. And Australian.

Just to keep things confusing, Hololive is also anime (Holo Graffiti and Magical Girl holoWitches) and a number of computer games (Holo Earth, Holocure, Hololive Error).

13 Last Man Standing w/ Tim Allen was such a good series. Not only well-cast with the hot ladies, not only laugh-out-loud funny with an unapologetic conservative slant, but it had heart as well.

14 For a couple of days now, Miss Linda has had a strange bird on her front lawn. (No, not me.) It looks something like a loon, dark body with light speckled feathers, grey spiky feathers around its head, and scary tiger-yellow eyes. When she walks by it, it ruffles its wings as if threatened. We don't know what kind it is. I've suggested she send a pic to the state Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries and ask.

It also looks and acts like it might be sick, so I told her to stay the hell away from it. Rumor has it that this bird flu can infect cats as well as people. True?

Plenty of wildlife reserves, I think -- it's hard to keep the wildlife down when you're surrounded by swamp. Rehab, I dunno. That's what Wildlife & Fisheries should be for, to see to animals like this.

L. thinks the creature looks like a mini-dinosaur from Jurassic Park, and after seeing those staring yellow eyes on this bird, I agree.

23 I went down to the local big box computer store to play around with the new new co-pilot laptops. A few observations.

They look just like what you would expect a laptop to look like. The software running on them looks just like what you would expect software to look like. These laptops come with a special copilot button that brings up co-pilot software which I'm not sure has any substantial real use unless you're trying to fake being an artist with co-creator. And they are wicked quick.

24 Last Man Standing was great tv. For sure it had a conservative slant, by they allowed the libs to clap back when it was funny. Overall it was a good show and there’s a reason it was canceled, brought back, and then cancelled again.

I don’t see it in syndication on any streaming network not that I follow most of them. I really like that show, but the ending seemed hollow to me like it didn’t leave a huge mark.

I realized long ago that I prefer sitcoms that don’t have a definite ending as Friends, Seinfeld etc. Everybody loves Raymond is great for syndication because they never had a finale. It just keeps going over and over and over.

I hope someone puts last night standing syndication because it was a really good show and who knows when will ever make any show that is not far left.

It's 60MB, which is pretty small for an AI.

But mostly it's just one of those things, like you're shooting the shit with a buddy who happens to own a full machine shop, and somebody says "You can't make a gun that shoots guns at people", and he gets this weird glint in his eye, and then six months later he's built this monstrosity that can launch an AR-15 through two inches of steel plate.

It's the over achiever's fault.

No, it's structural UNDERperformance. The structural lack of family (2 parent family, the structural decay of their own communities (violence, general incivility, awarding & celebrating degeneracy) and complete lack of structural leadership of their communities instead following race hustlers.

43 Diversity helps when it helps. For sure, this is one of those debates that divided by left and right and one says diversity always helps the situation and the other side wonders if that is so.

I lost a friend years ago because I questioned if diversity in any small group always improved that group. It was a simple question intended to provoke debate as we were all debating and discussing topics.

I proposed a group of rocket scientists were all white males, and who are considered the best in their field. Would that group be improved by changing The number of white nails would that group be improved if there were more minorities and women? Would the science produce be better?
I Then gave her real life counter example. You look at the normal US Army platoon today and this is a bunch of 18 year-old kids from Gen Z. They mostly have had the same life experiences with minor variances.

My National Guard platoon Former marines, Vietnam vets, Police officers, And kids right out of college. I gave that as an example of when one platoon might be better than the other because it was more diverse.

The called conservative lady listening to me was lost at hearing diversity in itself

For sure diversity helps at many times, but the people who use it as religion seem to never know the right time.

51 The value of diversity, as presented by the nitwits, is done without any regard for the expertise a participant brings to the table. An extreme example.

The people that built the atomic bomb during World war II possessed diverse technical backgrounds and were experts in those fields. This was a successful example of diversity.

As a counter example, if you put together a diverse group of people made up of dancers, cashiers, horse trainers, and politicians, from the various racial groups and tasked with building a steam engine the results would be No steam engine.

The nitwits that screech about the value of diversity do not understand this simple difference or more likely they're ignoring it to gain political advantage for a preferred group.

57 Diversity, as presented by the current screechers, Is based on noting and exaggerating racial differences, economic differences, educational differences between various social economic groups. The insidious part begins by vilifying these differences, laying blame for them at the feet of a group perceived as being an oppressor or enemy, and then whipping up a frenzy demanding that they be fixed. The preferred solution Is to then forcibly reallocate along racial lines the resources previously vilified. This diversification or reallocation is what they mean when they say diversity.

69 Recently, I read a book about the collapse of middle-eastern civilizations that occurred around 1177 BC. We know as much as we do about events back then because of information preserved in cuneiform on clay tablets. So,when our civilization collapses (and it will, because nothing lasts forever), what will we leave behind that could be read by archaeologists 3000 years from now? Practically all of our digital information would simply evaporate, and little that was left would be in media like paper that was fragile and unlikely to survive. To future civilizations, ours could well be a dark age because they'll know so little about us. Somehow, I find that comforting.

Well, no, there isn't data. MEI groups tend to be diverse to some extent because merit doesn't have a color. DEI looks at that and says: "See? Diversity is good! If we just had more diversity, these groups would do even better!" Which is wrong, because diversity in MEI is not a cause, it's an effect unrelated to productivity outcomes.

73 The students would learn more from assembling some sub-$100 Raspberry Pi units, and learning Linux. Then, using them to connect to peripherals, program, and otherwise tinker around. Also robotics, of which there are a plethora of tested activities that the classes could use.
The Pi's would be less attractive to thieves, be repairable if damaged, teach the kids about operating systems and builds, and be customizable.
Sometimes, small IS better.
And, best of all, the Pi's are made in multiple countries, but a very good kit - the Canakit is the one I own - is made and sold in England.
