5 Evening and morning to all the aoSHQ satellites across the system! Whass happenin' on Europa tonight?

I dreamed I was driving a Ford Econoline 150 delivery van like the ones I piloted for Purolator in the '80s. I was wearing civilian clothes, though. My difficulty was parking the thing close enough to the curb on a cross street just outside my apartment complex of today. Finally I got it settled. Then Miss Linda and I were taking the harness off my late big black cat Wolf, who was on the grass outside the van. Could I leave him outside the van for the night? We were worrying about leaving his red velvet collar on him, when I woke up.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at June 18, 2024 04:15 AM (omVj0)

11 Damn. Warning labels? You think it's bad, those disfiguring warnings on tobacco products in the US? In Europe they put actual pictures of people with cancer and tumors on their mouths and gums *on the outside of the package*. Germany has a label in big black letters in German, "Smoking Is Deadly" ("Rauchen Ist Todlich") bigger than the name of the product.

First test: Can you make a 5g NIC that will work in a single lane PCIe 3.0 slot? My math says maybe, but that need-duplex thing might hurt it.

Second test: If it is possible to make it, will anyone actually make it?

Anyway, one more day until the holiday. Tomorrow morning I have to run the car over to the tire shop, which will be open. One of the tire monitor sensors, or perhaps its battery, has gone out, and the yellow light and missing tire pressure figure is accusing me from the instrument panel of monstrous neglect.

Depends on which towns. A lot of Wyoming has suffered the same population decline occurring throughout the Midwest. There are a few towns that are growing rapidly and housing prices are fairly high.

That and all the Wyoming towns are smaller. Cheyenne is the largest and it has 65,000 people. That’s the 140th biggest city in California.

We were in Cheyenne for a vacation two years ago and the state really made an impression. We're not committed to that city; it's just what we know for right now.

Basically, as long as we have a medical center, a grocery store and decent internet access we're fine. I can look at telework jobs until I get old enough to take out from my retirement without penalty.

But if you'd like to chat outside of this site so you can go into more detail I'd be happy to learn.

We sold our house to Open Door. It was a good experience. Did we get what we thought it was worth? No we didn't, but there were many good aspects of selling to them. One is we didn't have to deal with a realtor who comes in and tells you to do this that and another, adding expenses. Another was the deal was done in 6 weeks so by not listing with a realtor, we don't have the stress of the house being on the market for a long time. The other great thing about it was they buy it as is. The house was in great shape, needs some updating, but we didn't have to do any costly things. Depending on your situation at the time you want to sell, it can be the right decision.
