Oh lighten up, I kid. I kid. Man accidentally shoots self in Kroger parking lot, then parolee friend flees with gun BANGOR TWP, MI — A parolee has been jailed following a shooting in the parking lot of a Bay County grocery store. Not because the man pulled the trigger, as the wounded man did that himself, but because he allegedly took the gun and ran off with it. “There were a lot of bad decisions made in a short amount of time,” Bay County Sheriff Troy R. Cunningham said of the situation. That was almost a Quote of The Day there Sheriff Troy R. Cunningham. Fugitive's Phone Betrays His Hideout In a twist of fate that seems straight out of a comedic caper, a wanted man's attempt at eluding law enforcement was foiled by his own cell phone. The Polk County Sheriff's Office in Florida encountered what could have been a challenging search, had it not been for the fugitive's ringing phone that led them directly to his unusual hiding spot. The individual, who had been evading capture due to outstanding warrants, chose an unconventional place to hide: the ceiling of his workplace. It's unclear how long he planned to stay holed up there, but destiny—and his cell phone—had other plans. As deputies scoured the premises, the unmistakable sound of a ringing phone pierced through the silence, acting as an unwitting beacon that guided them straight to him. Today's good news story comes from Boca Raton, Florida. A dramatic water rescue was captured on camera as three good Samaritans leaped into action to save a struggling teen at the Boca Raton Inlet. Things I learned today: If you have a mechanical calculator (which looks awesome, by the way), and try to make it divide by zero, instead of immediately spitting out an error message the way a digital calculator does, it will run, and run, and run until the machinery breaks down. It will also sound like a revving diesel engine the whole time.

That Betsy Ross flag was the original Pride flag.
Posted by: RickZ Betsy Ross was one of seven women who sewed flags for the Continental Navy - anything beyond that is based on "Ross Family Tradition" only mentioned by her grandson in 1876. (Rather like a certain law professor-turned-Senator's family tradition that she had Native American ancestry) Francis Hopkinson, who designed the Great Seal of the United States, is the most likely candidate for the creation of the earliest American flag, and he's the only person on record who submitted designs of the flag and asked for payment for his service. Hm. I didn't realize this - woo-woo stuff. Reagan pardoned Felt, and four days later gets shot?
I know he's supposed to be a bad guy, but then why would Ronnie pardon him? The NYT wrote that the verdict or conviction was "zeal is not an excuse to break constitutional rights" or somesuch. I don't think that opinion has aged very well. Posted by: Common Tater The revelation that Felt was Deep Throat was both a welcome and disappointing development. Welcome, because a decades-old mystery had been solved, and disappointing because it ruined a fun game that had been going on among journalists, historians, and Washington insiders since 1974 - coming up with plausible candidates for Deep Throat's real identity. Al Haig, Pat Buchanan, Henry Kissinger, and Diane Sawyer were the most prominent candidates, but Mark Felt didn't trigger anyone's alarms ... except for Richard Nixon. The Nixon White House was able to determine fairly quickly that the leaks were coming from Felt. Now, for some real woo-woo stuff, check out who was dining with Vice President George H.W. Bush the evening before Reagan's attempted assassination. Posted by: John Drake Is At The Caspian Sea at June 18, 2024 10:34 PM (u/Zei) 119

Alpert recorded his first tunes in his garage. He sort of pioneered, for him anyway, a distinctive double-track or doubling of his trumpet playing, which gave it a piercing quality.
Good production and studio musicians, no 60s collection would be complete without Herb Alpert and the Tijuana brass. My parents had one of their albums, the one with "Lonely Bull" and the rest of them. "Acupulco 1922" etc. If you go to a garage sale of that vintage, and there are LPs for sale, you're gonna find a Herb Alpert album or two. "Taste of Honey" was another cover that was played a lot. The fact there aren't any lyrics is a plus, this was background music for people who didn't want to blow their mind out with the Fugs or something weird. Bullinger (and others) speak of different "administrations". We are in the "Period of Grace", where man can choose ... (God or not). The OT was different ... obedience to The Law. 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel did indeed disappear, never to be heard from again.
- I'm not sure if that's entirely true. The regions assigned to ten of the tribes were conquered by the Assyrians and the population dispersed, but I'm sure God knows who their descendants are. But more to the point, if you read through the two Chronicles, there was apparently an exchange of population as a result of Israel going heavily pagan (because Judah had Jerusalem and therefore the temple. Band on the Run ... seems that was a great song during "The Summer of my Discontent". It was when I was home from college, working a summer full time job, but I was second shift, so couldn't hang out with my friends much.
But did destroy my brain with a little dope, and covertly watching my cheerleader neighbor practice with other cheerleaders in the adjacent back yard, before heading back to work. Electric Wheel money was good, but I had an empty summer .. just the music. Gotta pay the fiddler .. or some such. Posted by: illiniwek at June 18, 2024 11:03 PM (Cus5s) 200

"El Lobo (The Wolf)" is a good 'un. It's all studio schmudio, but it is technically well done, and it also sounds good. "Crawfish" is a good opener for the party. I can see the suburban shag carpeting, and the bouffant hairdos from here. This was an album you could use to test out the new HI-FI, too. Stereo!
Collectors today actually prefer Mono records for many famous LPs, because the early Stereo issues were done very poorly, or not even Stereo, just a panning re-recording between the right and left channels Or put another way, a good stereo Mono pressing of an original Mono recording is going to sound better. Noticeably better. (Unfortunately all the really lunatic HI-FI people don't even listen to music - they listen to their Stereo system) Posted by: Common Tater at June 18, 2024 11:04 PM (eZJ2c) 204

There is a very important Supreme Court Case which I have not seen discussed anywhere:
Moore v. U.S., No. 22-800 [Arg: 12.5.2023] Issue(s): Whether the 16th Amendment authorizes Congress to tax unrealized sums without apportionment among the states. Taxing unrealized gains, if it is allowed will be a disaster for the country, which will result in the utter destruction of the middle class. (Imagine a 20% tax on the increased value of the assessment of your house. The tax collector says its gone up $100,000 in value, so you owe $20,000 in federal taxes. Of course if the value goes down next year, you don't get any of those unrealized losses subtracted from your bill. ) Posted by: An Observation sez China Joe not my president at June 18, 2024 11:04 PM (CecP5) 206

Posted by: NaughtyPine at June 18, 2024 10:46 PM (5L1F I think that's true with most of the record collections of my peers. There's always an oddball 'doesn't fit' album. Those and Rick Wakeman's 'Six Wives', but that's kind of a classical-rock hybrid. Besides that Status Quo album, I have a jazz album, Cobham's 'Spectrum', the album of the year for whatever year that was, not just the jazz album of the year. Then there's that Loggins and Messina double live album. I also have the album (and cd) of the movie score album for 'The Three Musketeers' by Michel Legrand, the 1973 movie version with Raquel Welch. Right, it wasn't "ground breaking" but the 70s were a time of everybody wanting to mellow out a little bit. Easy listening was a decided genre, singer songwriters, California laid-back, ya know? There was a really wide variety of tunes on AM radio stations.
What makes that McCartney album even more remarkable is he did all the recording and production himself. It does have a little bit of roughness technically or sound quality wise, but that's pretty wild. There were a lot of "One Hit Wonders" in those days as well. I'd love to make an endless "One Hit Wonder" loop of 50s thru 80s. Or maybe expand it to just "One Hit" of any artist too. I had a roomate in the Army who thought "The Joker" by Steve Miller was the best song ever. He would never buy the album, despite my assurances that he had other tunes, because he didn't like anything else. I guess I can sort of understand that. "I Can Help" was recorded (for example) in Muscle Shoals, and features a famous lead out and lead back in. Could put a gun to my head, and I could not name another Billy Swan tune. But I like that one. Posted by: Common Tater at June 18, 2024 11:15 PM (eZJ2c) 230

Posted by: John Drake Is At The Caspian Sea at June 18, 2024 10:34 PM (u/Zei) Who? Who? Posted by: Auspex John Hinckley Senior was close friends with VP Bush going back to the days both were in the petroleum business. I got the order of events mixed up, though, and the persons involved - the dinner was to take place on the day following the assassination attempt, and it was between Neil Bush and Scott Hinkley, John Jr.'s older brother. At the same time, there was a major inquiry going on regarding the Hinckley family oil business and pricing violations they had committed in the sale of crude oil. On the morning of the assassination attempt, Scott Hinkley was meeting with the Department of Energy and trying to avert a two million dollar fine. That meeting ended an hour before John Hinckley tried and (thankfully) failed to kill President Reagan. Coincidence? Probably. The Hinckleys attempting to use their connection with Bush to avoid federal charges? Likely. But it does all seem a bit too much of a coincidence. Yeah, I've read it a few times. Man has free will to choose. That seems fundamental, or we are all "predestined robots". The grace is that IF we choose God, and admit our inadequacy (sin nature) He is faithful and just to forgive us. I have no clue how you conclude "if man can choose, it is not grace". That says Man cannot Choose. So we are just robots? NO .. na does have free will ... this is "man's day" where man does the choosing. In the great and notable day of the Lord, we will be judged for our choice. Free Will ... pretty basic concept. Posted by: illiniwek at June 18, 2024 11:26 PM (Cus5s) 253

Another little bit of Presidential mystery - what exactly were the wiretaps at the Watergate Hotel placed to discover, exactly? There's never been a clear, commonly agreed-upon motive or purpose. There's a strong assertion that it was to determine if the DNC had knowledge of a loan to Richard Nixon's brother from Howard Hughes, but there's a multitude of other claimed intents. Why were the break-ins such ramshackle affairs, given the involvement of former FBI and CIA agents?

Posted by: Commissar Hrothgar ALways my first thought. USA the nation...the idea Does not equal the government. It is far bigger and better than what these power obsessed freaks currently making up our Federal and in most cases state governments have wrought. Government does NOT equal the nation. The idea that the government defines the idea of one nation under God,..Is an idea foreign to the founders. Although the media and especially those in power seem to push that as the truth. Nation=The government. Which is their truth. Power corrupts..leading to ideas of grandiosity beyond their limits of power the founders knew had to be strictly limited due to the nature of man. Instead they want to limit us, "The people", the rest of us regular folks, to have the ability to have a say in how we will be lorded over. They see us as their biggest threat. Not as the people who make up the fabric of the nation, but as human chattel to be herded and controlled to ensure their grip on power to continue "progress" toward their Fabian long march to utopia on earth, with them in charge. "Bonus:Romans 3:11 "No one understands, no one seeks God". It would seem that when given the choice, no one seeks God."
More specifically, look at that context. 9What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; 10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." No one is righteous on their own. Only through confession of sin ... AND confession of a higher belief (through free will choice) does one attain salvation/redemption. It is NOT that no one seeks God, but that no one does it without "confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus". That is the point ... we are unable on our own. I think people should start considering that Youngkin might be the VP pick. Of course, if Trump wins Virginia, forget Ohio, if he wins Virginia, that means he wins the race.
Trump has always wanted to win Virginia in a big way. Sure they want to win every state but if you listen to him going back to the first campaign early in that campaign, he always had a special interest in Virginia. I think Youngkin is just a tiny bit outside of the swampy Republican group, But he is close. However, they traditionally go with strategic pics and if Trump chose Youngkin, his VP could spend the entire time campaigning in the state trying to help Trump win. I’m not saying it’s going to happen but guarantee he is in the mix and I would not be surprised if he’s the pick. To be honest, I don’t see how a lot of these other people floated around help Trump at all. Pretty much any Trump voter would vote for him, regardless of who he whom he chose. Working on a Chavez the Hugo worthy attitude this evening. Considered avoiding the ONT. Decided to make a quick drive by and check Mishum's music selections. Changed everything. Herb Albert was probably my mother's favorite musician. One of my last memories of her was stopping to visit. I found her in her favorite reading chair but she was at the point in her battle with cancer that reading was difficult and she was no longer able to mask her pain. Her eyes were closed and she was softly singing along with this song. She opened her and eyes, saw me and smiled. I could see the pain. I asked her if she was in pain. She said, " my body hurts, but the rest of me is doing just fine. " My plans to jump off the wagon, find some Tequila wander up to my inlaws and borrow the Massey Ferguson 60 and motor in to Spokane are off for now. Thanks Mishum.

I’m trying to get through the movie Oppenheimer. So far, it looks like a pretty good movie that just goes on and on. But Hollywood is made this movie about alleged communist being persecuted so many times I can’t believe they’re still doing it now. The fact of the matter is there were a bunch of communist to infiltrated this country during the 40s 50s etc. How many times does Hollywood gonna make this movie about how people were falsely called communists and the right was so crazy when the reality is they were communist. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. All the right people hated Nixon, too. That helps. It was just ingrained to people, to hate the guy. And that was enough.
The '60 Kennedy Nixon televised debates. That was probably the first time "scientific" methods were employed, Madison Avenue meets Politics. Nobody thought it unseemly to vote for the nice looking young man versus the 5'oclock shadow guy, especially females. Nixon was once described as looking rumpled, as if he slept in his suits or similar. He was oddly proportioned. I recall vaguely being mortified that I could see a layer of sweat growing where a mustache would be when he would give a speech or whatever on the TV. He scared me, or maybe that's what NBC wanted to do to me, I expect. He won what, 49 of 50 states in 72? In two years, he was Gone. How's that for a 180. Then the execrable Ford, and the horror of the Carter years. Posted by: Common Tater at June 19, 2024 12:12 AM (eZJ2c) Posted by: Muldoon at June 19, 2024 12:13 AM (uCfKO) 348

Why were the break-ins such ramshackle affairs, given the involvement of former FBI and CIA agents?
Posted by: John Drake Is At The Caspian Sea at June 18, 2024 11:31 PM (u/Zei) supposedly most of the Plumbers were seeayeayy and they had been on Dealy Plaza when Kennedy was capped. the usual answer was that the whole op was to cover up the fact that someone's wife was a prostitute, but it could have been anything from anticipating an October surprise to covering up other crimes. I really doubt it was done from the beginning to get Nixon, but he was sacrificeable, which tells you the scope of what they were hiding or the power they had Posted by: Kindltot at June 19, 2024 12:18 AM (D7oie) 351

Posted by: Sock Monkey * levitating above the madness at June 18, 2024 11:59 PM (PoLl4) I can't imagine. I love both reading and music yet my parents only read the newspaper and listened to the radio for school closures. There was no music in the house in which I grew up (except for that damn Cuckcoo clock) -- until I got that stereo. As for reading, I started with children's versions of some classics real young, like 4 or 5. 'Ivanhoe', with the knights and books like that. My parents actually bought a Collier's Encyclopedia, don't remember which year; somewhere in the mid-60's. I'd read that for hours for fun; just pick a letter and start reading. For those here that love Ann Coulter (come on, you know you love her) .. she says JD Vance should stay in Congress (he did not support Trump at first in 2016) and should choose Doug Burgum ... a strong good looking white guy, with a lot of money.
She also noted that Trump (kinda flipped) to supporting Hawley the day after she went on her rant over Trump trashing him. She indeed takes credit for Trump winning on border control after reading her advanced copy of her Adios America book. Posted by: zombie Robert Paxton McCulloch I still remember when those thick paperback books containing the Watergate Tapes came out - the whole country was making jokes about the most common phrase in the transcript - "expletive deleted." He actually earned enough money playing stud poker during WWII that he used it to finance his first congressional campaign. I agree with earlier comments, I don't know how true it is, but Nixon had the highest IQ among the presidents in say, the 20th century, and it isn't even close. I haven't looked at rankings in a long time, I'm sure they've buggered those up in recent years.
Carter was never a 'real' Nuke guy, was he? Rickover commended him for saving a reactor in melt down mode, but he didn't major in Physics or anything like that is my understanding. He might have played up his record, or the press did. Nixon astonished war protesters hanging around the White House fence one night as they camped out. He just went out on his own and started talking with them. I can't picture Carter ever doing anything like that. The press turned on Carter when they found out he was really serious about cutting back spending. I mean, really serious - they (the press) no longer had catered meals with caviar and the rest of it at the White House. Hot dogs and Kool-Aid or whatever it was. That was the final straw, and his empty suitcase was revealed to the American public, iirc. Among other things. Posted by: Common Tater at June 19, 2024 12:46 AM (eZJ2c) 399

I find it interesting that you never hear anyone on the right or left pine for the Lyndon Johnson years. I think there was a tiny bit of time when Texans kind of supported him because he was their president and they gave him the library at UT. But since then, no one talks about it because there’s nothing to talk about.
Texas now has George Bush Senior George Bush Junior, And even Eisenhower was from Texas, even though he never claimed the state and they never seem to claim him. Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 12:56 AM (a04jp) 420
But there was a time when LBJ got some respect just from being from Texas. Unless you’re a huge liberal that time ended around 1970 something.

Johnson deserves a lot of credit for his follow through on the space program.
Nixon did attend the launch of Apollo 12 - but it was evident that Agnew was kind of the point guy in the new administration, and gave credit where it was due. Kennedy, James Webb, and Johnson, and whoever was congressman from Texas who sort of made sure, somehow, that Mission Control sort of landed in Houston. All Democrats, and Nixon didn't try to take any credit for that. It was William Proxmire who seemed to want to kill the US Space program. I watched an interview with Apollo eleven crew, and ole' Neil brought up a point that I sort of deduced on my own. It (would be, he said) was really stupid to end the space program, when they had already spent gazillions on all the infrastructure. The spending peaked in 1965, say. They could have cranked out 4 launches of the Saturn V every few months for years and years. That was the capability they engineered into the VAB and the crawler ways. 50 years later, they are sort of trying to recreate 1967 or 1968 in terms of crewed missions. I'm sure they will do fine, but there is no excuse for losing earth orbit capability for 50 years is there? Posted by: Common Tater at June 19, 2024 01:06 AM (eZJ2c) 434

Two LBJ stories - one, that he was sexually rapacious with the various female staff surrounding him, and on one occasion entered the darkened bedroom of a member of the secretarial pool and said "Move over, this is your President!" She rebuffed him, and managed to continue on in her career.
Two, that during his sojourns in Texas, he would get roaring drunk, and verbally abuse his Secret Service detail. On one occasion, while he was urinating off the front porch, he directed the stream at one of the agents' pants. Shortly afterwards, while driving to Air Force One, the agents in the detail stopped along the side of the highway, escorted a surprised LBJ to a safe distance from the road, and one of them decked him. They then hauled him back into the limo and continued on their way. Johnson never messed with the USSS again after that. Submarines, then and now, do their dead-level best to not emit ONE SINGLE SOUND into the water. It still might be, that Cavitating the Propeller would be a Captain's Mast incident, for that very reason. It damn sure was in my Dad's era aboard the boats. Undersea Navigation is done with the best known charts, and an amazingly accurate, twin-gyroscope based Inertial Navigation System. Which they do try to update daily, with sun/star sights they can take through periscope devices, or more recently, by poking a very thin electronics mast up, to suck-in some GPS satellite fixes. The ONLY time I know of, that a sub would emit a depth finder signal, is when approaching a pier or anchorage in port. That doesn't really count. It was "earth orbit" but they didn't have the capability to get much beyond that. I think there were some satellites that flew too high for the Shuttle. I remember the optimism of the 1960s, but it was as if a switch had been thrown, sometime in the early 1970s. Everything went to Suck. Advertising, everything. Politics. No more "Better Living Through Chemistry", it was all about how the planet was dying, and we all better get ready for Running Out Of Oil, and the Ice Age and Acid Rain and Ozone and the rest of it. Carter and his "Malaise" speech. Well, getting late here. Worked on my '08 Suburban today. Last time I used it, the A/C fan wasn't blowing. Checked the blower motor, it ran fine on a 12 volt battery. Took out the "resistor block", which isn't actually resistors, but some sort of solid-state device on a heat sink, and it looked OK, nothing melted or burned, no melted or burned connector pins. Plugged it back in, tried the fan, 100%. Yay! Put it all back together. Fan not working again. I am guessing the resistor block/controller is intermittent, and screwing it into the plenum causes an internal connection to go bad. New one is $28.

The spook agencies were *chartered* in 1947.
Their spycraft though, began to take strong root in between the World Wars, and went bonkers in the late '30s, grasping for intel with which to deal with the clearly developing wars. The turf they nailed down in the '40s, became bombproof in the 50s, and nuke proof in the '90s. It would take Veto Proof majorities of the House & Senate, plus the Pres, to effectively deal with those, now. And the odds of that are...... ??? It's cute that people think "the law" is going to stop these guys.
Biden had been around long enough in congress to cut off funding to the South Vietnamese for ammunition. They fought till they ran out, then the communists invaded. Seems to me within a few years, Biden also said that the Vietnamese refugees aka "Boat People" should not be able to come to the USA. The mere fact that anyone who has spent 50 years in Washington, and that isn't a major liability to the public is a sad commentary on everything. Lots of people here, including the man himself or for other candidates over the years like the great Ted Cruz and I originally way back well before 2016 was for Rand Paul. Hell, I had a bumper sticker made, even though he wasn’t running at the time.
Trump is the guy and he is more fun to root for than even Reagan. I hope he brings the energy of 2016 because his speeches were events and they were a lot of fun. We have four months now and is time to win. People talk about VP and I will still say I’m throwing in Yougkin as my choice. It is not that I think he’s wonderful and I need him to be the choice but that’s my guess, I might even bet someone if they give me 10 to 1 odds. Trump has to do the greatest get out of the vote effort in the history of the world. That is his only chance. Ann Colter doesn’t matter now, Not even my favorite Mark Steyn. Et les enfants de wet to do everything we can to win. it is not about us showing up. It is about the five people where you bring with us. Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 01:35 AM (a04jp) 486

484, did he say that about the Vietnamese? Someone should find that and post that. It turns out that the Vietnamese that came to the US are normal people so of course they support Republicans. A Vietnamese heritage person is running for Senate in Virginia, and if Virginia doesn’t elect this person, that will be a shame on the state forever that’s my opinion. He is running against a garbage person and this Vietnamese heritage person. I don’t know if he was born here or not but Vietnamese by heritage who was a great soldier for a country deserves a chance in the Senate..
I saw footage of January 6Th, Not the so-called assault but just people who were legally watching a speech that day and there were hundreds of thousands. I saw 13 or 20 South Vietnamese Republic of Vietnam flags there. The Vietnamese community in the US, particularly in Virginia supports Trump. Now they have one of their own running for senate in Virginia and we should do everything we can to have this hero who served our country win. It is the right thing to do to support an American hero. This is going back to almost the 1970s.
I read recently that the Latin kings, a Latin American gang has made major inroads into Spain. I get it they all speak Spanish, but what a dumb thing for Spain to do. 520, why not? If you look up, Wikipedia, the lowest percentage of people of Hispanic descent are in West Virginia. The reality is Hispanics are pouring into West Virginia and the northern part of Virginia that borders that state. The reality is this country is becoming Hispanic country. I think someone said recently, Mexico was the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world in the United States was number two; Spain was lower on the list I think three or four.
The issue is not Hispanics for me but what about American culture what about America? I know parts of Eastern North Carolina that were famous for their barbecue. Now they have 10 pupusa restaurants for every barbecue place. Is this normal? Should one culture be overrun for another? Has any other country on earth voluntarily done this? Vivevk is fine, but he needs to earn his stripes. I am guessing Youngkin though I don’t know that to be the case. I keep doing this from the reverse perspective, Who among these actually helps Trump win the election. I don’t see the helping Trump anymore than he could do if you were not the VP candidate.
I see Youngkin helping Trump in his beloved Virginia. I am not saying that is going to work because all the Virginians who want Trump to win would vote for him regardless of the vp candidate. Maybe there is someone else out there that could bring in a lot of votes, but I’m not seeing it Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 03:04 AM (a04jp) 542

Once you realize these guys have degraded their positions to the point where they’re just men like everyone else. Realize that they’re better than you and they have a right to say anything against you.
We have to go after the left and we have to use law fair to defeat them because that is the battlefield they chose. If we do not, then they will destroy us because we were not willing to fight them face-to-face on a fair battlefield. I remember almost a year ago. The conservative radio shows went off and said this is it bread, state, lawyers, and prosecutors have to go after the far left. So now we are right now four months from the election and no one has gone after the left. Forget Congress saying we want you to appear that’s not what they did to Trump and Bannon. Everyone gave out the call and said now is the time to fight back, So, where is it? Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 03:19 AM (a04jp) 550
548, that is why I am guessing Younkin but again I only want it on a 10 to 1 bet. I have mentioned this before, but people from Mother’s Day don’t get it. Trump has a certain thing with Virginia. He has had this from his beginning way back before 2016. He has many properties here and one of his sons has a winery here. People wrongly think the Trump means Donald Trump, but who cares is wildly popular. I watch this for a long time and I watched politics long time and I know for a fact Trump has a special interest in Virginia.
I think Yonkin is on the fence between a mega Republican and a statist Republican. I am no Youngkin acolyte. But the Virginia governor ship is a dead end. He is already a lame duck. Where else is he going to go? So the question is does Youngkin Sit this one out and wait for the next election or run as the VP and be in position to run for president if Trump doesn’t win or if he win. So for Youngkin not helping Trump Makes no sense to me. Either way he’s planning to run in 2028 and it would be better if he ran supporting Trump now. Well, that’s my hypothesis. I’m not saying that’s what’s going to happen but it could. Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 03:26 AM (a04jp) 551
545, there is a C-SPAN video of Pence touring Gettysburg during the 2016 campaign with his daughter. He came off as a normal guy and they patriotic American. I recommend anyone to watch it because for sure that is the best Pence has ever done. These guys are always on camera and they know what they’re doing. Pence came off great that day..
But the guy is a stuffed shirt and for a short time people thought that is what Trump needs, but those days are long gone. Pence abandoned Trump in his time of need and no one will ever forget that. You can’t come back from that. Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 03:33 AM (a04jp) 552
There is a genre of videos plaguing YouTube where classical musicians listen to rock for the "first time" and then explain it to us. I find this offensive and often leave the flaming bags of dog crap on their door steps which this case is a comment.
Them having to tell they are classical musicians is to give them cred and that the magic crystal stuffed up their asses enhances the musical understanding far beyond what us shit for brain peons, who have only been listening to this music for 50 years, could ever hope to obtain. We should be grateful to them for lending us a hand even though will we can never grasp their genius, which if you think about it, is what these videos are actually about. An example. Ack. Kill me. https://youtu.be/4uFM3TZPMFE Posted by: Altaria Pilgram at June 19, 2024 03:36 AM (jau9J) Posted by: JQ at June 19, 2024 03:40 AM (njWTi) 554
You seem bitter. I personally did not think much of rock when I was young. My little miss test was could you understand the words? The reality is many fans of rock got the words wrong. They themselves did not understand them.
I like country back in the 80s when I was growing up. Classic rock I’m not saying it’s better, but I just seem to enjoy it more and it brings me back to the time when I was young and growing up. I’m not sure exactly what makes you so bitter because when I watch reaction videos mostly the people tell how great the music is even if it is not the genre. I know for the most part there are a lot of rock ‘n’ roll bands that got over by being loud and not particularly incredibly great at singing music. On the other hand, there were some amazing musical events from rock bands that I would’ve probably never listen to years ago if it were not for YouTube reactors. Furthermore... what's "popular" isn't necessarily stuff that I like. Again: LOL Twas always thus, as far back as middle school. Hahaha. So----- Whatever you like to hear? Enjoy!!! Doesn't matter at all what anyone else has to say about it! Posted by: JQ at June 19, 2024 03:50 AM (njWTi) 556
Thinking back about rocking the 70s and 80s as many of those guys play golf and vote for Trump as there are country stars who ended up dead, drunk and druggies.
So much of that music is just a show and when you look back at it, that’s what it should be. I remember back when I was young in the 70s and 80s people thought Rockstars lived that life like they were providing an alternative life. I hope we all learn that is not true. They were just people playing music and trying to make a buck. Posted by: Quint at June 19, 2024 03:51 AM (a04jp) 557

I'm not really into lyrics so much as the overall sound of a song. I often don't know what is being said, including non-English lyrics. I'll look up lyrics out of curiosity sometimes. But I'm seldom wowed when I do. These are not philosophers, and it wouldn't really matter if they were. That's not what I'm looking for in music.

If some Rando tried to tell me labout lonesome Dove, I’d be pissed too because I wouldn’t think they could not possibly understand it. the way I do.
