'Tis Tuesday (right?), another milepost on the long slog to the weekend. Tomorrow will start off busy, when I take the car in for an oil change and inspection of hoses and belts in prep for a road trip. The challenge will be finding a parking place near work afterward. Today, however, is not so daunting. The Killer Kittens From Outer Space are doing fine. Dagny is settled on the end table near me, under the lamp, and big Stirling is dozing on the floor. I had a really moment (PG rating) when I read that. I can't wait to see what Intel comes up with for their desktop silicon. I was going to buy a 13th gen system from Dell but they ran out of 750w systems by the time I got my act together. Now that I see where Intel heading I am going to pick up a 14th gen system; being able to expand the memory is kind a desktop prerequisite feature. Plus I don't have to deal with the whole Recall fiasco which will be in the next generation of silicon. And AMD's naming conventions, geezh... Just tried somethin g new in my shave routine: Cella brushless shave cream. (Yes, I know, just about any cream can be used without a brush.) I bought it to bring along on my road trip. It is slick, and works okay . . . but it is transparent, and so it's hard to tell what you've actually shaved and what you haven't when you're used to a white cream or soap.
I may use it as a pre-shave here at home, and just toss a soap stick and brush in my shave kit for traveling. I can always lather up the soap in my hand before applying it to the face. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at June 04, 2024 05:52 AM (omVj0) 74

I have a minor gripe that is not at all tech related:
I'm sick of the phrase "jailing political opponents". That isn't actually a bad thing. Are they guilty of something deserving jail? Can you prove it in a real prosecution that follows the same rules of prosecution everyone else must follow? Well then throw them in jail, dammit! The problem is not jailing political opponents. The problem is jailing the innocent and acquitting the guilty. Discarding your own rule set because something is deemed too important. And it doesn't matter if the object is a president or a hobo, those are civilization killers in their own right. It's always a "political" decision when you go down that path. Doing it against presidential candidates just makes it more visible. Posted by: Warai-otoko at June 04, 2024 06:02 AM (BpZ5k) 85

Iirc, it's mostly a hassle to get Microsoft to recognize that the "old" computer is no more, and the "new" computer has a valid license. If there's a hiccup in that process, you land in the DRM DMZ and get your legs blown off by a mine and the rest ripped up by machine gun fire.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A juror was dismissed Monday after reporting that a woman dropped a bag of $120,000 in cash at her home and offered her more money if she would vote to acquit seven people charged with stealing more than $40 million from a program meant to feed children during the pandemic. “This is completely beyond the pale,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said in court on Monday. “This is outrageous behavior. This is stuff that happens in mob movies.” Posted by: fd at June 04, 2024 06:34 AM (vFG9F) Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at June 04, 2024 06:34 AM (MoZTd) 101

Corrupt jurors. For when the judge is not corrupt enough.

Maryhope Howland gave birth to a baby she thought was a boy. But at 6 years old, the child asked her questions such as “

Miss Diana walked at yesterday's Puget Sound Borzoi Club specialty. Poor thing was anxious and didn't move well, Her Majesty said. The judge is also notorious for playing games. Diana's sister, Rosalind, was essentially dumped on her for the stay up there. HM didn't have buckets or bedding for her, so it's a bit of a trial. And young Mr. Zeus is up from California to compete in Futurity and Sweepstakes. HM said that when he saw her, his eyes melted and it was, "Mommy! My Mommy!" Programmers use these keys all the time to quickly move around the code being written. The essential part is they are full size keys and laid out in such a manner that they can be quickly be accessed without looking. Additionally the arrow keys should be full size. This is not a trivial issue if you are a programmer.

I almost puked. stronk girl black chick Number One defying guest star captain Michelle Yeoh and basically starting a mutiny so she can start a war with the Klingons.
