The Apollo Project spacecraft had some interesting design strategies. They did look at something very similar to a funnel system but they needed to prevent leakage. They found dumping the urine caused small but significant changes to the spacecraft trajectory.
I’d really not like to think about taking a dump in a spacecraft. They tried to minimize the frequency by eating low residue foods, but sooner or later …

My neighbor's massive yet healthy tree took a dive onto my south lawn, the roots were shallow but fully water saturated soil.
Just around the bend, a slice of tree totally wiped out a carport full of stuff.
Branches are just dropping from trees (many are naturally self-pruning) a few have taken out power lines so everyone in the neighborhood is either on generators, in the dark or in a hotel.

My theory - coffee especially, and tea - are imports. Check out how much a single pound of coffee cost at the Rondezvous in the 1830s and 1840s. A wise leader of a vulnerable… group … would try to discourage that kind of thing.

Then it must not be allowed statehood until it has demonstrated that it has its shit together. And as a condition of statehood, it will be locked out of bond markets for the next 100 years.

The popular county sheriff was running for reelection, and dropped dead of a heart attack after the filing deadline.
His only opponent was a guy who had been kicked off the Houston police department for police brutality.
So, everyone banded together to reelect the sheriff one more time, so that he could be replaced by appointing a reasonable person after the election.
California election law was then changed to briefly reopen the filing window if an incumbent died after the filing deadline.

I call bullshit. The graphite in pencils are conductive, as is the dust. Imagine that getting into electrical circuits and causing shorts. Even if most of the electronics is conformally coated, not a great idea.

Schirra was mainly asserting his command prerogative, and this did not go over well with the boys on the ground. He viewed Apollo 7 as strictly an engineering test flight (which it was) and he declined in no uncertain terms they weren't going to crank up the TV broadcast (unscheduled, now moved up 24 hours) right in the middle of a course correction burn, something like that. He did have balls, they tried to diplomatically talk him into it, he said "discussion over, we're not doing it".
Then they wanted all three to be suited and helmeted up during re-entry. This would preclude being able to perform a Valsalva maneuver, to clear eustachian tubes in the ears. He had a bad head cold. Can't blame him there either - this is REALLY painful, if you can't clear it you will regret it.
But they made it clear. No medals for you, no more flights. Some people say nicotine withdrawal made him grumpy. Practically all the Mercury guys were chain smokers (excepting John Glenn, naturally). Why didn't he bring some Skoal? Wouldn't NASA docs have figured nicotine withdrawal would be a bad deal?

Yeah. NASA originally used pencils, mechanical ones, for the astronauts. Spent over $100 a piece for them, and there was some outcry (early shades of Pentagon $800 whatever it was).
But, they found that little pieces, conductive pieces floated off as mentioned above. It was also a fire hazard.
I'm trying to think of some incident where a piece of something did apparently short a circuit board out aboard the LM or something.

Those conductive things aren't free-floating around. Big difference. Your house is probably a lot bigger than a space capsule, and probably has a significantly lower density of electronics to volume.

I think it was 14, maybe, one of the flights had the "Abort" switch itself, the LM, had an intermittent short. They deduced a solder ball floating around making contact. This was a real problem, because it would have jettisoned the descent stage whenever.
So the brainiacs at MIT ( they had about 2 hours to fix the software code, get it sent to the test simulator astronauts to test it, get it approved, read up to the crew....) figured out a workaround and fool the computer not to abort or ignore spurious signals, while retaining the ability to abort when or if required. They were some amazing software guys and gals back then. I've read the way code is written today, they wouldn't be able to do that.

It took some high level phone calls back and forth, to talk the newspaper to not print the story the next day. All the astronauts had a meeting, and John Glenn read them the riot act. Glenn really WAS a Boy Scout, I think. He was a natural politician, too.
Watch the original Mercury press conference. They all gave good answers to the press, but they were mostly awkward, not Glenn. What an asshole, being able to speak at length, contemporaneously.

He started acting crazy, and there was real concern he was going to kill erebody up in dere. Commanders prerogative, and I don't blame them. The hatch was such, it was easily opened, and you're all dead. There's no reason to open it in orbit, so a lock made sense.

James Webb got the telescope named after him for some pretty good reasons. Frank Borman once quipped, only half joking I think, that he wished he would have been SecDef instead of McNamara. Bob Seamans was another guy.
Rocco Petrone was a major in the Army when he was tasked to build the whole shootin' match at the Cape, basically. He was in charge of launch operations. It's interesting to read leadership and management styles.
He was very knowledgeable about systems, and he expected people giving a briefing to be as well. He fired one guy on the spot, because when asked a question - he didn't say "I don't know", he tried to bullshit him. Just removed him off the podium physically.

Doing things in less than 1g takes some getting used to. NASA has this contraption (well one of several) that is used to simulate 1/6 and Mars 1/3 gravity. You get suited up in his harness thing, hooked to control arm that moves on a frame above you. It lifts you up with enough force to maintain the simulated lower gravity.
It's not a perfect simulation, but it's close enough. I watched some TV showing that. You get some people, cold, hook them up to that, and have them try various simple things.
The results are hilarious. Try to lift something. Or use a shovel. Or a hammer. You end falling all over yourself.

Nope you grind up the rhizomes and sieve it out the starch from the fibrous parts using lots of water, then wash the starch three to eight times.
You use it like arrow root or tapioca flour. There is a type of Colombian cheese biscuit that uses it, "achira" is one of the names.
There are different varieties of cana, the food crop grows big rhizomes, and the decorative ones have smaller ones but prettier flowers. I am now spotting out who has cana in their yards because I am going to beg for starts this winter

The idea was, you're in orbit, trying to catch something ahead of you. YOu're at the controls, and can thrust, speeding up or slowing down (and tangentially and vertically).
You see something ahead of you. You want to catch up. Well, if you thrust forward to try to speed up and close the gap, you find the damn thing ahead of you starts getting farther away.....

Read about young Neil Armstrong and Gemini 8. Docking with an Agena test vehicle.
There were problems. It turned out to be a stuck thruster on the Gemini spacecraft. It sent them rolling out of control. They thought at first it was a problem with the Agena, but it was the Gemini.
It was Neil Armstrong's cool head that saved the day. The spacecraft could've easily started tumbling out of control. The "spin" rate got enough where they could've blacked out, but Armstrong saved the day.
That's one of the reasons he was selected to be the First Man on the Moon.

I've had enough to drink today. A dear friend passed away this morning (it's still Tuesday here) which was kind of a shock. She had stage 4 cancer, but was still lucid, active, lively as she could be as of yesterday-- nobody would've guessed that she'd collapse & be gone all of a sudden today.

Submerge your feet in ice water for a half hour or so, and watch as you try to perform algebra equations or whatever. In retrospect pretty stupid, but. There was apparently a "heart attack" on the Moon, Apollo 15. Look it up. One of the astronauts had a pretty bad irregular heart beat episode. It was pretty bad, and scared the flight surgeons.
They decided is due to an electrolyte imbalance problem, so they prescribed more potassium in the diet or something. So, on Apollo 16, that was the "citrus fruit" thing that gave John Young the farts.

Those shoes should be used to make footprints of what should've been.

We had a hell of rain, early yesterday mornin, 2.38" according to my station. Got a little more yesterday afternoon. Sun came back out, and start evaporatin' some of that moisture on the ground.
Dew point got up to 77F. That's humid. I've noticed this sun after afternoon rain high humidity effect before, but this is the first I've seen it quantified.
Miley got me this weather station for my birfday.

Assuming you're looking for something "official" from the same people that pushed the vaccine and insisted you mask up while entering their office, unless (similar to filing a FOIA request) you know the exact phrasing and mispellings to get the request to work. I doubt you could easily search for something about a worldwide effort among governments and the medical industry to promote giving people cancer.
We know there was something that happened in 2020-2021 to boost cancer rates, though. Pesky number crunchers keep noticing numbers:
"We show a large increase in mortality due malignant neoplasms that started in 2021 and accelerated substantially in 2022. The increase in excess deaths in 2022, is highly statistically significant (extreme event). The results indicate that from late 2021 a novel phenomenon leading to increased malignant neoplasm deaths appears to be present in individuals aged 15 to 44 in the UK."

I'm gaining some respect for cousin, the re-tard meteorolgist. That last little storm front that passed over us. He said, we're we gonna get a gust front of maybe 20-25mph when it passed us. My station recorded a gust of 20.6 mph.
We didn't get hardly any rain of out it. Looking at the radar, it sort of split, then recombined after passing over us. Which was good. Ground is saturated now. Didn't need any more.
