A class of high schoolers managed to solve the 35-year-old cold case of the Redhead Murders in Tennessee and surrounding states. It started at Elizabethton High School in Tennessee, where teacher Alex Campbell was looking to engage and inspire the students through an unorthodox sociology assignment. What started as an experiment on profiling—how can you build a picture about someone based only on known actions taken by them but with no other details—quickly turned into a true crime investigation, based partly on Campbell’s wife’s fascination with the subject which had rubbed off on the teacher. Here's a list of 11 that should do it. orporate media recently took old smears about a Revolutionary War-era flag and applied them to Justice Samuel Alito after his wife allegedly displayed the “provocative” symbol in front of his home. The meaning behind the “An Appeal To Heaven” flag, a pine-tree-adorned symbol used by squadrons of the Continental Navy during the Revolutionary War, is rather innocuous. George Washington’s secretary Col. Joseph Reed created the flag in 1775 to publicly display “an appeal to God to save the colonists from the King’s oppressive ruling.” Quote I "..... There is anti-Semitism on both sides. The right-wing has the 'Jews will not replace us' nonsense. The left-wing is even worse. That is coming down from elite colleges who see everything through a racial lens. They are stupid. They don't know history. They think everything is about colonizers and racists and how awful America is." Bill Maher Quote II “The use of an old historic flag by a new group does not necessarily drain that flag of all other meanings,” Justice Samuel Alito ![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

As Klaus Schwab noted a few months ago, polling will soon be so accurate that you'll know who was going to win the election without going through the pesky step of having an election.
That retard actually thinks that people respond honestly to polls and that statistical weighing will match true demographics? This is from the same people who have been making climate predictions for three generations and failing to have any one of their prognostications accurately predict reality. The truth is, Big Tech has proven to be able to temporarily manipulate crowds into a significant majority of any opinion based on propaganda, censorship, Mimetic Theory and Mass Formation Psychosis. I hope American Exceptionalism can power through the muck thrown on it. Because the true wealth of a nation is innovative, hard-working people. Except for the Calvinists.
That is funny because the three things that made American Exceptionalism is Gunpowder, Printing Press and Calvinism. Without Calvinism, you end up with a Man Is Inherently Good sentiments which make it easier for evil to circulate. "Oh, he is just backslidden, like the prodigal son, he will return" and letting those kind of people rule. Calvinism also relies far more on Providence and provides a stronger moral check on humanity than what the Remonstrants demonstrated. History is your friend. Revisionism isn't. The T is my favorite. It's what I think a street 911 is all about. The GT3 and Turbo models are great but to me Porsche's have never been dragsters, they are sports cars with manageable speed. I think it has long been scrubbed and scraped from the internet, but there was a webpage that noted how the official US military political definitions changed in technical manuals (TMs) between the big wars and after. From memory, In the 1920s
Democracy. Rule by the masses. Attitude towards property communistic. Mob rule. Results in license, agitation, discontent. After world war II , everything was Aunt Bea running for office. “The will of the people shall prevail!”. The public service announcements in the 1950s on AFRTS radio provides a glimpse on the thinking. Democracy is good because we say it is good, and they go on to say things like “A dictator can’t take over in a democracy, because the people won’t allow it.” They also conflate human freedom, and freedom of speech, with democracy. I always like to point out nowhere in the Declaration of Independence is “Democracy” mentioned. Not even once. Nor in the Constitution, nor in the Bill of Rights. Universal “suffrage”, letting anybody and everybody vote is an atrocity. It is put forth as an unalloyed good, because they say so, “without evidence”. The Ramones were most popular in Argentina for some reason, toured there a lot, and are still worshipped there. Cover bands and all. Posted by: Rockin' Mel Slurp at May 29, 2024 10:33 PM (V5BDR) 179

They also conflate human freedom, and freedom of speech, with democracy. I always like to point out nowhere in the Declaration of Independence is “Democracy” mentioned. Not even once. Nor in the Constitution, nor in the Bill of Rights. The argument for democracy, direct or otherwise, is that it protects our God given freedom better then other forms of government. And...to the extent it does, it is a good government. And to the extent it does not it is tyranny. 51% of the population voting to take my rights away is no better then a tyrant doing so. In a functioning system, those with “skin in the game” can have a say.
Letting people on Welfare say, vote for tax increases, for more free shit, guess how they are going to vote? These were basic common sense things that weren’t even cause for comment at one time. What we have now is basically allowing prisoners to vote to open the jail cells. In fact, prohibiting felons from voting has some practical aspects. Murderers voting for judges? Does this make sense? 51% of the people will (eventually) vote to steal the other 49% of the people’s stuff, basically. Democracy is poison, as we are all witnessing in real time. Notice how Schizophrenic leftists are. They decry “populism”. WTF do you think “Democracy” is? They just want the smorgasbord version of Democracy. “Everything We Like, And Nothing We Don’t”. That is funny because the three things that made American Exceptionalism is Gunpowder, Printing Press and Calvinism. Without Calvinism, you end up with a Man Is Inherently Good sentiments which make it easier for evil to circulate. I noticed “Academia” at some point, it was no longer allowed or even possible to describe other viewpoints, and this is also the case in the press.
We used to say things like “Well, from the Russian perspective, these troop deployments are seen as blah blah blah …” It was understood by everyone that describing alternative viewpoints was not endorsement or approval. That’s gone now to a large degree. Merely suggesting that “this is why they are doing that” makes you a “Putin apologist” or whatever. When did this start? About the “Safe Spaces” era? Dayum... Posted by: Robert It absolutely was - part of the narrative was based on the Slender Man attempted murder case, and thus you get not one but two possessed young girls. By the same demon apparently. And it gets worse from there. Nobody involved in the writing or production seemed to have any sense of Christianity in general, or even what constitutes an exorcism. Plus, you've got Ellen Burstyn from the original film show up in conjunction with a book tour showcasing her daughter's own possession and screeching that the real problem here is not the demon, "it's the patriarchy." She literally says that in the movie. And the demonic forces have enhanced powers - one of the young girl's souls is taken directly to Hell, which kinda nullifies a lot of theological understanding. 1 of 2 Posted by: John Drake Nearing the Caspian Sea at May 29, 2024 11:44 PM (u/Zei) 332

Exorcist comment continued - Think about it - if the Devil or one of his minions can literally drag someone to Hell on a whim, why bother with temptation or any of the other diabolical wiles?
And that's only the most glaring defects of the film. The studio paid out 400 million for the rights to the IP from the original film and novel, and got the geniuses that did the final three Halloween films to commit to a trilogy. They only had a working title for the first two: Exorcist: Believer and Exorcist: Deceiver. The box office and the critical reception was so awful that the trilogy plan was scrapped. Now it looks like they got a sucker to buy them out. 2/2 Posted by: John Drake Nearing the Caspian Sea at May 29, 2024 11:52 PM (u/Zei) 344

VW is abandoning manuals for the GTI from the 2025 model year on too. Bizarre; I think it had close to a 50% take rate (based solely on frequently perusing autotrader etc.) I assume it's mostly to do with emissions.
Porsche, for instance, made big changes to the new 911 GTS - the engine goes from 3.0 to 3.6 litres, and boost from something like 18 to 26 psi, and adds an electrically-boostable turbo to reduce lag. Should make tons more power, you'd think. That's more boost than a 2024 Turbo in the same size engine. Nope, it makes barely more power than the old GTS; all those changes go into making the engine meet some new German law requiring engines to stay at the stoichiometric fuel/air ratio at all times. No going lean for economy - too much NOx! No going rich for power - too much CO2! Posted by: spindrift at May 30, 2024 12:02 AM (9UkPu) 358

(Also the manual is not being killed off in real cars because people don't want them, but because of federal MPG and sound laws regulations and manufacturers can't meet the fed's requirements)
Nearly everything wrong with post 1970 cars, up to and including the ugly styling, can be blamed on federal regulations. The remainder can be blamed on auto executives, who didn't fight the regs very hard, even when we built nearly all our cars here and they had serious economic leverage, because the regs were a good excuse as to why they had to charge more and more..effectively mandatory high option high profit cars Posted by: Azjaeger at May 30, 2024 12:08 AM (3/XaG) 363

Posted by: Debby Doberman Schultz Up until the 80s in northern Mississippi there was an event simply called "Decoration." It wasn't on Memorial Day or tied into anything Civil War-related. It was simply a day that members of a given denomination would visit the graves of their loved ones and put out flowers. Because it was tied into different denominations, different days were set aside for the event to avoid overlap and possible doctrinal wrangling. Which brings to mind, somehow, one of the funnier religious occasions I witnessed. After a funeral service the minister was standing at the exit shaking hands with congregation members. The little old lady in front of me told the minister that she "really enjoyed that funeral." He was at a loss for words, as was I. Posted by: John Drake ---------- It's difficult, sometimes, to find the "proper" words, yes? Surely the lady meant to compliment the minister-- I read her statement as: "That was a very lovely service." Posted by: JQ at May 30, 2024 02:15 AM (njWTi) 433
John Drake, I had a brother-in-law who exclaimed at every funeral that the occupant of the casket never looked better.
For many years I worked in a bank, I waited on the same three guys every Thursday night, we were open until 8. One night they came in dressed to the nines and I asked them where they were going. They said to a funeral, but I misheard and told them to have a great time. One of my many faux pas in this position!! Posted by: Debby Doberman Schultz at May 30, 2024 02:16 AM (Sgq8y) 434

Surely the lady meant to compliment the minister-- I read her statement as: "That was a very lovely service." Posted by: JQ That's almost certainly what she was trying to convey. She was a nice woman and very devout. It just caught the minister and those within hearing range off guard for a moment. I have to wonder what response he was considering, though. Best I'd be able to do in his position would be "Un, thank you?" Posted by: John Drake Nearing the Caspian Sea at May 30, 2024 02:23 AM (u/Zei) 435

It's really not that complicated if you know the history of NATO and the US in Eastern Europe although it might be a bit uncomfortable if you think our foreign policy has always been on the side of angels. Once again this is why Trump is THE reason the uniparty and permanent bureaucracy hates him.
https://tinyurl.com/4p8h2rmx Posted by: JackStraw at May 29, 2024 11:16 PM (LkLld) There is a fine line between looking at our foreign policy critically and simply reflexively hating your country. You are treading dangerously close. Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at May 30, 2024 02:35 AM (qgV4A) 437

Posted by: RickZ True indeed - that would be troubling. I think JQ has the right take on it, since the lady in question was a decent individual and very pious in the best sense of that word. Oh, and quick tip for those nearing the Caspian Sea, be vigilant - an elaborate saddle upon the Bactrian Camel you're buying could disguise the fact that it's only a Dromedary. And there are no refunds at the Caravanserai. Like never. It's all "Sorry, effendi," and they giggle as you ride away fuming.

Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop Yes - you could anticipate the quality of the film from that alone. Roaring MGM lion, probably gonna be good. American International Pictures Capitol dome, your mileage may vary, and so forth. Grant Morrison, a Scottish comics artist and writer who has done way too much acid and who is extremely eccentric and way too much into the occult, nonetheless has an interesting take on corporate logos. He calls them sigils - not literal sigils, but metaphorical ones - that are intended to implant expectations and a degree of confident familiarity within the consumer. That's just Madison Avenue, one would say, and it is, but the psychological effect of branding is extremely powerful.
