  • Slack is taking customer data and using it for AI training. (Security Week)

"You can opt out", said Slack, which didn't actually bother to tell anyone it was doing this in the first place. "You just have to call customer support."

"The data is not shared with third parties and never leaves Slack's trust boundary" added a Slack representative, missing the point that Slack's trust boundary is now zero.

Anime Music Video of the Day

Song is Best Day of My Life by the band American Authors. Anime is Non Non Biyori, which follows the daily lives of the children - all five of them - in a remote Japanese farming community. The location is fictional but the hints are that it would be somewhere in northwestern Honshu.

Their dilapidated school building though is entirely real.

Disclaimer: There is a word - though I don't remember the word or even the language it is from, so this is of questionable utility - for nostalgia for a time and a place that you never knew. Non Non Biyori delivers that like nothing I have ever seen.

11 Pixy, you outdid yourself with this selection of articles. I don't know enough about modern chip design to offer any factual critique of what Intel is up to but coming up with a design that consumes 1500 W seems to point out they have serious issues when it comes to power management. ARM designs are marching in exactly the opposite direction with extreme power management by comparison and are being produced by a wider range of companies. Intel seriously lost their way in the mid 2010s when they iterated on the same basic design for multiple years and ever since then they have slowly than marching
towards irrelevance.

A screw can withstand 5,000 pounds of pressure. I screw into wood all the time without splitting.

With my power screw driver if I have the pressure set too high I can counter sink a screw a good half inch into wood. I usually set to '10' on the dial which takes the screw a little bit below flush.

101 Morning peeps

Screws vs. Nails...

The deck here was originally nailed. It needed to be replaced and was a pain in the butt to demo. The new one is screwed, but you need a particular bit with the screws the contractor used.

On the good news front, the MiL's brother is driving her here here from Cali, so I don't need to make that trip. I was kind of dreading it. Escondido to Cowtown is a slog even in a nice rental car. 105 Psalm 139:23-Search me and know me, O God; and know my heart ; try me and know my thoughts:
The note for it in my "Life Application" Bible says:

God cares even about our anxious thoughts, both little cares and devastating obsessions. Anxiety robs lives of joy. All of us , from teenagers to retirees, face crippling performance expectations, fear of the future, and the scary daily news of this dangerous present world. Our emotions lie to us saying, "God doesn't care " or "He isn't involved " Moviez and television ( and the internet-my note) lie to us, portraying the world as if all hope is lost. Bringing out anxieties to God cools our overheated minds and connects us to Him, the great comforter ( See also 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4) practice this prayer: "Lord, be near to me. Soothe my heart and mind."

It's refreshing to see that Harrison Butker's NFL jersey is currently the most popular merchandise item. The Lefty outraged outrage is tedious. All that guy did was affirm that the Catholic Church views marriage as a vocation.

One of the young woman engineers I work with (a very nice, devout Catholic girl) has confided in me that she very badly wants to find a good man and get married. She looks at the pool of soi-boys and despares. The overwhelming majority of Israelis now understand that it is time to crush the Hamas cockroaches.

To put things in perspective: Israel has population of about 9.8 million and sustained about 1300 killed/wounded on Oct. 7th 2023. Assuming a population of 300 million in the U.S., that would be the equivalent of about 40,000 killed wounded Americans on Sept. 11th 2001.

God works in mysterious ways. While it is distressing to see the blood-thirsty Jew hate rear its ugly head in America (it's ever-present but often quiescent in Europe), the sorting of the sheep and goats is clarifying. The same folks that want to kill the Saturday people will, if successful, move on the the Sunday people.

I don't blame them. Many of the cops I worked with couldn't keep their pants zipped and were unfaithful to their wives. I had a wise Detective counsel me to avoid the "Three B's": Booze, Broads and Bargains.

I worked with my future wife's mother and she told her, "Oh, RBC is a nice guy; he's not like the other cops I work with." LOL.

The crybullying *always* worked before. They could wail and beat their breasts while the American government cajoled the Jews into a corner, and save their precious Arabs every time. Now that it's not working, there's a real "Hey!! WTAF?!" vibe to this coverage.

I dated a divorcee who had been married to a cop, but decided not to get romantically attracted to her or bed her.

This was long before OJ, but I wasn't taking any chances. Ex husband, perhaps still with keys to house and me shagging his ex and maybe he's the jealous type and is carrying... No thanks.

178 So Egypt is selling weapons to Hamas
Posted by: rhennigantx at May 18, 2024 07:53 AM (ENQN6)

My guess is not Egypt, but surviving members of their suppressed MB faction.

Al-Sisi is very pissed at Israel for the Rafah offensive. But not from fellow feeling for Hamas. He's freaked the fuck out that this will result in a flood of refugees into his country, and everybody hates the Palis, not just Israel.

Rumor has it that he's been building internment camps in the Sinai against that eventuality. He doesn't want them infecting Egypt.

Oh, def. But I'm also enjoying the confusion. There's a tone of disbelief in these articles. Every single one angrily notes that Israel is ignoring "international pressure" and "public opinion" by "going it alone" in Rafah and Jabalya.

The crybullying *always* worked before. They could wail and beat their breasts while the American government cajoled the Jews into a corner, and save their precious Arabs every time. Now that it's not working, there's a real "Hey!! WTAF?!" vibe to this coverage.

The savagery of the Gazan attack entailing the butchery of babies and little children couldn't be ignored. If Hamas had been content with their previous plinking with a few rockets here-and-there, those goat-fuckers would still be gleefully trying to kill Jews. But they couldn't help themselves -- even though they essentially had their own city-state and many Gazans had their employment in Israel.

184 Weirdest experience I have ever had, and it remains ongoing, is long before (many years before, from early childhood), going to (now Ex-) Yugoslavia in physical reality, I had been constantly dreaming of the place. All I had ever seen were photographs from magazines and images from books; maybe a movie or two. But they embedded for some reason and became a place in my dreams; and I did not even know where it was.
On arrival it was obvious: it was, it is, the same place. I immediately knew where I was and never once felt 'lost' or a stranger there. I know this place. I've been here many, many times before. It's... home. I know where I am.
I spent that time, and still do now, in a Place I have known for almost my entire life in the geography of my dreams.

It's a made-up political term to smear white Christians as terrorists on par with jihadis. Well, they say we're worse than jihadis since we're "the bigest threat to Our Democracy(tm).

It doesn't have to make sense, it just has to make it easy to point the mob at the rest of us and tell them to hate us.

*I say "we" because all of us here would be considered this for the crime of not being progressive and wanting to uphold Christianity-base norms/values of Western civilization. And that includes any "white-hispanics," "white African-AMericans," etc. since wanting normal things makes one "white," too.
