You do it by "ranked voting". Because you can't prove it - you can't track it - Hell, most of the public can't even understand it if it was done honestly.
You'd have to have run-offs ... for every candidate below the threshold to win ... if you wanted to do it honestly. Multiple votes - lowest candidate out - as well as all others below the line to win - if you were honest.

Today I used geometry and basic tools like a chalk line to lay out safety fence ... using heavy shit like a hammer drill and a two pound hammer ... to drill through a concrete slab. Then I re-worked existing electrical controls so that relays will kick in and out on schedule to prevent people from accidentally amputating themselves in an industrial process.

Damned if we didn't see streamers directly overhead. Miley saw them first, I was looking at the horizon. But near directly overhead, sort of aiming NNE to SSW were a couple of spectacular streamers. Wispy and shimmering, and got briefly quite bright. Ray effect there in the band. Quite a sight.
The camera's night mode can pick up the pinkish glow better than the eye, I see, but it could not see the streamer light at all.

My late father swore that he saw the Aurora when he was living in the extreme northeastern edge of the state, just across the line from Alabama. He wasn't a fanciful fellow or given to tall tales, so there must have been some geomagnetic event with some oomph in it sometime in the late 30s.

I don't know how to capture this ... but in the Ohio Valley - which he's near ... the entire color palette changes when big weather is on the way.
For lack of a better term, everything goes yellow - and it's a real, perceptible thing to see. When it goes green - and that's always with a tangible shift in pressure - that's when every pet in your house goes crazy and its time to get under ground.
I wish I had the skill to capture the yellow. It's a real thing.

It was kind of like the way folks treat Morgan Freeman in Charleston MS and Clarksdale MS, where he maintains two separate homes. Jerry Lee eventually moved out of Mom's town to Nesbit, MS, up near the Tennessee border, mainly because of marital conflicts with his sixth wife.

Sounds great, and I think you'll like it. The South has seen a lot of folks from all around the country moving in. There's a tremendous number that want to live in Laurel or Hattiesburg, MS. Then there are those who want to go more rural, like Sela Ward, who happily settled down in Taylor, MS. As far as the Magnolia State goes, if you're able to make it through July into September (the months that where the temperature and the Heat Index do their best imitation of Hell), you'll be fine. I still remember meeting a recent transplant from Queens, who asked if this weather unseasonable. I had to tell him that it was - the temperature on that day was 95 and the heat index 103. That, I said, was cooler than the norm for mid-August. He was .. dismayed.

Those are about 12 and 20 miles North of Houston, respectively.
My only "effect" was some very minor pixelation on the OTA TV antenna feed.

Anyway, that tells the story of why we could see it so well here, at 34.7Nish. Watch the aurora bloom up as the terminator swept across the US starting at 5/11 0:00 Zulu.
Look at me in the NE corner of SC, after the terminator passed over us. It's southward peak right at our longitude peaked around 9:30PM EDT.

I got some good pink/red shots.
That thing has now retreated northward, so the show is over. It may bloom up again tomorrow evening.

You're not seeing Venus (unless you're not on this earth, but somewhere else). :-) She's pretty much disappeared into the Sun, and won't back back up until August, on the evening side. Jupiter has also disappeared into the daylight, and will pop up again on the morning side in August as well.
I'm betting you're seeing Arcturus, maybe Vega. Arcturus is the brighest star in the northern celestial hemisphere, and it's the time of the year for it to put on show after midnight.

Tonight was a striking rosy glow that would bloom and fade in different areas of the sky. Mostly north, but also east.
Those long whitish streaks were at angles to each other (like chemtrails often are). They seemed to originate in the sky above us and not from the northern horizon.

JQ, you might get lucky and see some streamers, which amazingly we did here at 34.7N.
Look overhead every so often. You may seem some long thing whispy streaks, maybe white colored like will look like long whispy clouds for a bit. If they start to shimmer, the produce distinct ray-looking streaks, you've seen it.
They'll be pointed roughly north-south and visible more overhead.

Saw streaks and streamers, as you described, about 2 hours ago. Not as well-defined as in some aurora photos, rather a bit blurry in comparison, but quite colorful nonetheless.
Will keep looking outside from time to time.

Those streamers are a *complex* plasma-physics thing. I was reading. It's due to "flow burst" -- there are some charged particles that get pushed suddenly earthward and get accelerated rapidly.
If you had a sensitive magnetometer right underneath, you'd see your local magnetic declination wig-woggling, shimmering a bit itself.
