Biden Is Giving Obamcare to DACA Illegals

Of course they claimed this would never happen when they first imposed DACA.

President Biden's administration on Friday formalized a new policy of opening Obamacare health insurance exchanges to people who arrived illegally in the US as children who have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.
The change, pending since last year, is projected to ease access to insurance and federal subsidies for roughly 100,000 uninsured DACA status holders and could soften the blow to pro-immigration advocates if Biden tries to curb record-high illegal immigration before the Nov. 5 election.
"This landmark final rule will make DACA recipients eligible for the Affordable Care Act coverage for the first time. It is projected to help more than 100,000 DACA recipients gain coverage," an administration official said on a press call.
"By providing new opportunities for quality, affordable care healthcare, this rule will give DACA recipients that peace of mind and opportunity that every American deserves."
The DACA program was created in 2012 by then-President Barack Obama when the DREAM Act failed to pass the Senate and grants eligible applicants access to deportation protection and work permits.
In 2017, President Donald Trump attempted to scrap DACA while saying Congress should approve a similar program. The Supreme Court overruled him in 2020.
There were fewer than 600,000 DACA recipients as of last year, down from a peak of more than 700,000.
Immigration is one of the 81-year-old Biden's top liabilities in his anticipated rematch against Trump, who is vowing to launch a mass deportation campaign after unprecedented illegal immigration under Biden.
Under Biden, most people who illegally cross the Mexican border are allowed to enter the US to pursue asylum claims in a move Republicans say encourages others to follow.
Shortly after taking office, Biden halted construction of Trump's US-Mexico border wall and terminated the "Remain in Mexico" policy that required asylum seekers to await rulings on their claims of persecution south of the border.
The DACA benefits expansion comes amid reporting that Biden may seek to demonstrate a tougher approach to the border as polling shows the issue as a major election liability.
An Associated Press poll last month found that 56% of respondents said Biden made "immigration and border security" worse.

Not only will they be on Obamacare -- which Obama promised illegals would not be allowed to access -- but they'll also be getting discounted insurance. US taxpayers will be paying for their subsidies.

We editorialized about this last year, when the idea was first floated by President Biden, noting that it confirmed that Barack Obama did in fact lie when he claimed that his health-care program would not provide benefits to illegal immigrants.
A "fact sheet" from the White House estimates that 100,000 illegal immigrants will receive benefits through the program. It explains, "Starting in November, DACA recipients can apply for coverage through HealthCare.gov and state-based marketplaces, where they may qualify for financial assistance to help them purchase quality health insurance."

So, to be clear, illegal immigrants won't merely be able to use the Obamacare portal to shop but will also be able to receive federal subsidies based on income, potentially qualifying for completely free medical coverage. There is also no reason to feel confident that the government will be able to accurately verify income for this population.
This is another example of executive overreach from a lawless administration.

2. Spend it. All of it. Live large until it's gone and go nuts, then go on welfare and wait for the end.

They don't need fake SSN's, the IRS gives them an ITIN
(Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) when they get DACA status or are granted asylum. They are legal to work anywhere in the US with that number.

Yup. I know. I've been working since I was 17. I have been net tax-positive (pay more than I get) since I was 22. I have been paying into this execrable system my entire life. Paying, and paying, and paying. Every year, just paying and paying. Over that entire time, I have consumed *nothing* from that system other than the "free rider" things (roads, police (ha), postal service, etc.). In the good years, my net tax burden to the feds has been bigger than what some people have as income. In bad years, it was barely positive. But since I entered the workforce full-time, it's never once been negative.

And in exchange for that, I am piece of shit. A cow to be milked for those who "deserve" it. I don't "deserve" it, obviously. Livestock is a productive asset, not an object of affection. Nobody cares about what the cow "deserves." The cow is there for milk, meat and leather.

Ugh. Sorry. Enrages the piss out of me.

You can read something similar right now, today, in the country on which our government has remodeled itself: Red China.

The CCP keeps cracking down on the comparisons, but people keep making new ones. Two common ones that they can't seem to fully suppress are "leeks" and "minerals." As in, "I am a leek" or "I am a mineral."

Leeks are to be cut down every season, harvested, and allowed to grow back ("sheering the sheep" is probably the most common Western equivalent).

Minerals are mines to be extracted until exhausted, then abandoned. I don't know the Western equivalent of this one. We might not have it yet. We will.

People thinking of themselves as "leeks" in the eyes of their government is unhealthy. People thinking of themselves as "minerals" is disastrous.

I gotta friend on Obamacare. He has a business, makes decent money. But he chooses to pay himself in such a way that the I R S sees little of it. Social Security sees little of it. When he retires he thinks he's gonna get a thousand bucks a month and survive on that. He pays a couple grand a month for Obamacare and has to out-of-pocket about 75% of the cost.

Paying, and paying, and paying. Every year, just paying and paying. Over that entire time, I have consumed *nothing* from that system other than the "free rider" things (roads, police (ha), postal service, etc.). In the good years, my net tax burden to the feds has been bigger than what some people have as income. In bad years, it was barely positive. But since I entered the workforce full-time, it's never once been negative.

And in exchange for that, I am piece of shit. A cow to be milked for those who "deserve" it. I don't "deserve" it, obviously. Livestock is a productive asset, not an object of affection. Nobody cares about what the cow "deserves." The cow is there for milk, meat and leather.

I stop watching movies sometimes, and it just boils down to whether I'm really enjoying it or not.

I broke out the made for teevee Langoliers thing, watched half of it, still need to watch the second half. Lots of hammy acting, and Bronson Pinchot brilliantly playing the insane junk bond dealer. Gotta say, David Morse seems to ALWAYS give his all to his performances, even cheesy made for teevee schlock.

Well, the people aren't acting that way. I've been saying since 2020 that the Great Migration is conservatives fleeing blue states to red ones while progressives flee blue enclaves for the suburbs.

Red states are getting redder and bigger. Blue states are getting bluer and smaller.

And then there's the illegal immigration.

I'm not sure there's saving the nation as a whole. There may be hope in finding yourself in a state that is more sane than California, though.

I remember on election night watching the returns come in. I can't remember which network but it might have been CNN had a live vote counter as returns were coming in for one of the swing states and I saw in real time Trump actually losing thousands of votes.

Never seen that before in my life.

I broke out the made for teevee Langoliers thing, watched half of it, still need to watch the second half. Lots of hammy acting, and Bronson Pinchot brilliantly playing the insane junk bond dealer. Gotta say, David Morse seems to ALWAYS give his all to his performances, even cheesy made for teevee schlock.

I started watching, and haven't yet finished another Stanwyck film, Clash By Night. It also has Marilyn Monroe in it! Sheesh, it's a real downer, but I guess I have to finish.

My wife and I watch Noir Alley on TCM every Sunday. I don't know much about other genres besides horror and sci-fi, but based on my experience most film noirs just go on too damn long. Most of them could end 30-45 minutes before they actually do.

Yeah, in this case, they spent about an hour setting up the premise. By the time they did, I said "I ain't got time for this," and turned it off.

CMS - the Center for Medicare - the agency that is in charge of Medicare rules and policy - determines who qualifies as "Legally Present in the United States".
AMAZINGLY, under Joe Biden (FJB), the agency has decided to classify illegal aliens in the United States, who have NOT been given asylum, as eligible for both the Marketplace plans (Obamacare) AND subsidies.
Notice how carefully the denials that aliens are getting essentially free health care are worded.
They will generally say that only eligible persons are able to receive that care. What they carefully avoid saying is that, from the agency's standpoint, as soon as they are processed, they 'qualify'.
BTW, I do sell both Medicare and Marketplace plans - I am licensed in two states to do so.
