Let Them Fight Don’t save Democrats from their own campus disasterThe Democrats are already facing a critical election in which they must run a deeply unpopular dementia patient against a former president who maintains a strong base of support despite being hit with an endless barrage of fake criminal charges. The very last thing the left wanted was a civil war on college campuses that exposed the disastrous contradictions at the heart of its coalition. You can always count on the GOP to do the wrong thing. How Ivermectin Trials Were Designed to Fail Many people, including physicians, may not be aware that interventional studies, particularly RCTs, are prone to numerous biases, with selection bias being one of the most significant. Excluding potentially eligible individuals because of their anticipated group allocation can lead to selection bias.I'm not shocked. One treatment protocol was worth billions to drug companies, and the other worthless. Why would anyone be shocked? Middle schoolers who protested trans athlete’s participation are banned from future competitions Five West Virginia middle schoolers who protested a transgender athlete’s participation in a track and field competition have been barred from future meets — prompting the state attorney general to ask the US Supreme Court to weigh in on transgender student-athlete bans for a second time. West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey filed a lawsuit against the Harrison County Board of Education on the dissenting students’ behalf after they were blocked from upcoming meets following their protests at the April 18 shot put competition, West Virginia Watch reported. Five girls from Lincoln Middle School stepped up to the circle for their turn before refusing to throw in the event, which was won by Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 13-year-old girl who takes puberty-blocking medication and estrogen hormone therapy. While West Virginia law bans transgender girls from playing on girls’ sports teams, a recent federal appeals court ruled that the law couldn’t lawfully be applied to the eighth-grader.So these girls refused to compete against the boy (And good for them, we need more of that), and now they've been banned from sports. There's a lot of resentment building out there, it's not going to be pretty when it breaks. I would say let the colleges suffer their own consequences, sit back and get out some popcorn, but... There are local elections too. I think those students that lost out on education and/or were harrassed should sue the schools for not keeping their "commitment" to a "safe" "learning" environment. Police should go in there only after being explicitly allowed to go in (with the WRITTEN permission broadcast on radio, TV and internet), IF the ROE are sufficiently protective of the police. That way, any backfire goes to the University. Those involved in the rioting are in public rioting and have therefore waived their rights to anonymity. I hate commies. Posted by: RickZ at May 02, 2024 10:26 PM (emlEe) 90
I'm sitting next to a 7'x8' art deco oak panel frescoe done in 1941 by Louis Ross, who did murals for the 1939 World's Fair, and collaborated for more than 25 years with Hildreth Meiere, working on the Nebraska State Capitol Rotunda, One Wall Street lobby, and decorative elements inside and outside Rockefeller Center. During WWII when there were no large art projects, they made over a hundred religious triptychs for Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish worship by troops all over the world.
I rescued the panel from demolition from a baking company headquarters right across the street from Madison Square Garden. My wife drove our van from Riverdale, Bronx, down the West Side Highway to pick it up. Too big to fit inside the van we tied it on the roof. It's been here in NC since 1988 and still looks beautiful. It's title is "What's in a Donut" and has cows, chicken, barn, chicken coop, a microscope, spices, wheat, farmers, spices, pictured with bright colors on raised plaster with lots of gold and silver leaf. I'm sure no one else has one. It is signed and dated 1941. That's my art deco story. Posted by: NYC Refugee at May 02, 2024 10:26 PM (V5BDR) 91

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey filed a lawsuit against the Harrison County Board of Education on the dissenting students’ behalf after they were blocked from upcoming meets following their protests at the April 18 shot put competition, West Virginia Watch reported.
I have to say the conservative response to these outrages is...anemic. Are there laws in WV about discriminating against women? Don't even bother with the tranny ban. Go straight to whatever laws the state has on the books and *arrest* or *fine* the members of the ed board *personally*. Instead the WV AG is kicking it to the SC. Good luck with that. --- Same thing with hydroxychloroquine. I remember four years ago, there was evidence that giving people a normal dose of hydroxychloroquine immediately after covid exposure/symptoms was a life-saver. Then a study showed that giving people near-lethal doses of it when they were already in the hospital with covid just made them worse, which all the libs posted all over social media, and it was suddenly "common knowledge" that hydroxychloroquine is pure poison and anyone who disagreed was a science-hating Trumper who wants to kill people. Posted by: JQ Where I live we had what we called neighborhood cats - friendly to all, roved from house to house, obviously domesticated but not clear who they belonged to. Over time, the whole neighborhood got to taking turns putting out food for them. We'd usually get it cleared away come night time, but there were occasions when it was overlooked. That attracted the attentions of possums, who could be chased away with no trouble, but one enterprising raccoon locked onto it with his scavenger radar. He was beyond intimidation. After being chased away a few nights, he decided that the chance of some illicit Friskies was just too tempting. I heard him rustling through the bowls, which were empty, of course, I threw the light on and charged out. He just paused and looked at me with an expression that I swear resembled a pissed-off George Costanza. His look and his posture gave off a "What, whaddya want? I'm tryin to eat here!" vibe. He wobbled off with a disgusted air and it took me quite a while to stop laughing. Posted by: John Drake Nearing The Caspian Sea at May 03, 2024 12:57 AM (u/Zei) 330

Claymores, while having a better reach than katanas, are extremely heavy and require some effort, making their use a bit slower. That 'bit' for a samurai holding a katana is enough. Posted by the "Tadpoles" Seeing it - South Park actually spliced in a brief segment of the procedure in question in the episode where Mr. Garrison decides to become Ms. Garrison. I have seen real-life clinical grisly, but that was horrific in ways one would never anticipate. A federal law requiring anyone wishing to have such a procedure to watch a complete operation would likely change some minds. Bonus bit from that episode - when Ms. Garrison worries that she might become pregnant, the doctor explains, "Mr. Garrison, we didn't make you a woman. We just made you look like one." Perhaps OT, but I admit I haven't the slightest clue what Russia is really after in Ukraine. I mean, the strategic goal is to fix a line and partition, and reduce Zelensky to non-threat status and for him and all his Godless fucksticks to not lob ordnance across the new border like a pack of subhuman Gazans, but otherwise I have zero idea what the Russian goals are.
It's entirely possible Russia is fighting Ukraine bloodless for the sole purpose of being left alone. It's also entirely possible there is some long game there I don't see at the moment. I know the strategy of 'The West', which is to utterly destroy Russia. They're still hysterically enraged they didn't get to wreck the place permanently in the 1990s due to Putin stopping them. I don't believe Russia even wants the rest of Ukraine. I also think annexing Poland was the biggest mistake Russia ever made, and to try to repeat it either by force or diplomacy would be both stupid and crazy, neither of which Putin is. I just find it hard to believe after all this Russia is going to be happy with a purely defensive outcome ending in stasis. It would take impressive self-control to resist absolutely crushing Zelensky. Posted by: LenNeal at May 03, 2024 02:11 AM (9yXr+) 440

Probably the biggest comprehension gap with Russians is that while they spend almost every waking moment of their lives bitching about everything, they still love their country. This one was Fox Run (you can look that up, Fox Run in Simpsonville, SC). Well, Billy, the owner at the time, got impatient with all that one time. I and the lunch crowd was there, and this guy comes in asks how to get to Fox Run. Without even looking up, Billy says, "Go back up the road, take aleftfttakearighttakealefttakearightboughthalfamile. Left, right, left, right, then about 1/2 mile. That was correct. Ol' Red Brown would give directions to Fox Run when he was hanging out there. I've learned a lot about how people really navigate environments from working at the supermarket. Nobody reads signs, labels, pays attention to any of the carefully constructed layouts of a modern retail establishment. They navigate by shapes, colors and relational objects. I can't count how many times I've had people completely thrown by a label change on a product. A lot of the time, they don't even know the brand names of items they've bought for years, just the colors and shapes on the containers and where they are in relation to other items in the store.

We run short hauls - less than 400 miles. Tell drivers to follow the main roads/what technology recommends. Be a cowboy/gunslinger around the office but not in the field. If they get adventurous....we will support and tell them to get ready to solve a riddle of their own doing.
Posted by: scampydog at May 03, 2024 02:42 AM (41CYW) In Canada, the biggest part of the drilling season is on Winter, when the ground is frozen, and bush roads are easy to build, also drilling leases are hard ground. If there is a steep climb to reach the rig, they may have a Cat and operator on the lease to tow trucks up the hill. Usually the drilling supe will tell suppliers, "send a 4X4 tractor with that load of mud, and we will give you a Cat tow if the driver spins out." And if they send a 4X2 tractor, and it spins out, the drilling supe will bitch like Hell, and send the Cat out anyway, because they really, really need that load of mud. 494... training your customers is pretty dang important. Throwing breaking balls at them regularly results in self inflicted wounds. Masses are simple creatures. Seems to me that few like and embrace the regular intellectual challenge...they drift/want the easy path. And to know where the hell you moved the ice cream to.

Customer at the supermarket after a label change:
"Where's the dog food/spinach/corn I always buy?" "What's the brand name?" "I don't know, it's in a green can!" I've explained about moving things around in the supermarket. Sizes change, items get discontinued, brands go under, new items get added and there is a finite amount of shelf space. Eventually you just have to tear it all down and rearrange it all. There is no other choice.
It's always a horror show for all involved. Believe me, retailers hate doing it just as much as the customers. Posted by: LenNeal at May 03, 2024 02:53 AM (9yXr+) 503

Although there are no mountains there, not even any prominent peaks, the "flat" landscape is riven by many a valley, crevasse, gulley or crease. Give that west Texas red soil a spot of rain, and you've never seen such a snot-slicked greasy stretch of unpassable road, until you're there, and have to deal with. You'll never be able to wash the red stains out of your clothes, no matter how hard you try. And your clothes ARE going to become stained. Because you're going to slip and fall down when you try to affix the tow straps to pull you out of what doesn't even LOOK like a mudhole. But, is. My late father, Grady, back when I was but a wee lad, was the Master of Ceremonies at a Greenville Country Farm Bureau Annual Meeting back in the day. He regaled the audience with a funny story about his Mama churning butter. At that time, the wife of a local eminence, after whom they named an intersection in Fountain Inn, SC. Well, a bridge intersection with I-385. He was state senator. Anyway, she was an old school teacher and stickler for grammar and diction and all that. She stood up at that meeting and corrected my father. "No, Grady, one does not churn butter. One churns milk to make butter!". She was a Karen of her day. Daddy said, "Noted, ma'am" or something like that. He was, shall we say, not amused at that. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at May 03, 2024 03:24 AM (w6EFb) 529

All these peoples is dead and gone. They had their plusses and minuses. The surname there is a Big One in Fountain Inn and local circles. They made a pile of money and got into politickin'. One of the relations of T. Lloyd was Old Man David. He started out dirt poor, nary a pot to piss in, and made it Big Time, millions upon millions, and acquired a Shit Ton of Land. Construction, of which the business is still a Going Concern. As a teenager, I had the benefit of the Wisdom of Old Mand David. My father told me, when Mr. David speaks, you listen. I did. I recall fondly, sitting in the den of Old Man David's Big House, listening to him talk. Long story, but Old Man David got interested in My Daddy and Me's Tire Saga. It was an oddball tire size for a certain combine, of which they didn't make much of. It had blown and was nearly worn out. But the manufactuturer wasn't going to make any more of those oddball tires for a while. Anyway, Old Man David had some Tire Connections, and was helping Daddy get that taken care of. And he was frugal. You ran something until it just plumb fell apart. You run that combine tire 'till it just blows apart, son! Old Man David, through his Tire Connections with local tire outfits, what he owned a piece of, made sure they fixed that ol' oddball tire as best they could until we could get a new one. Daddy knew who to call when he was in a bind. Old Man David was one of those. Who would answer the call of his homies. They have driven up the cost of colleges, causing administrative bloat and the rise of useless degrees. And don't even get me started on divorces and transitioning men's sons.
