Senate Passes Ukraine Funding Bill

The Senate has passed a substantial $95 billion aid package to support Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan overcoming strong internal dissent and delays within the GOP-led House.

Key Details:

The bill received overwhelming Senate approval with a 79-18 vote, backed by majorities from both parties despite some vocal opposition.

The package includes $61 billion for Ukraine, $15 billion for Israel, and measures to address Chinese influence, notably involving TikTok.

Critics like Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) expressed dissatisfaction, citing concerns over prioritizing foreign borders over American needs.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate passed a significant $95 billion emergency aid bill aimed at bolstering the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Israel, marking a pivotal moment in U.S. foreign policy amid contentious debates. The aid package, designed to address several international and security concerns, passed with a substantial majority, signaling strong bipartisan support despite notable opposition within both parties.

...

"I think we've turned a corner on the isolationist movement," Senator Mitch McConnell said about the aid bill passage.

Joe Biden will give a Shpeech -- he doesn't give speeches any longer, only shpeeches -- at 3:45pm.

The Senate also passed a bill mandating the sale of TikTok to non-Chinese-state-security owners.

In a significant move by U.S. lawmakers, Congress has passed a bill that presents the most substantial challenge to TikTok's operations in the United States to date, aiming to address long-standing national security concerns associated with the app's Chinese ownership. The legislation mandates that TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, either sell the app or face a national ban, a decision backed by substantial bipartisan support and reflecting years of mounting scrutiny over the app's data privacy practices.

The bill's passage marks a culmination of efforts to legislate against the perceived risks posed by Chinese technology companies, with TikTok in the spotlight due to its massive user base and cultural influence in the U.S. Critics of the app, including key Senate and House leaders, have argued that ByteDance's ownership could allow the Chinese government undue access to the personal data of American citizens, a claim TikTok has repeatedly contested.

Spending borrowed money to promote a war the State Department stumbled into, without gaining a single damn thing in return (like even a little bit of face-saving border protection) just grinds his own base into the dirt. He's an open-borders, spendthrift, corporatist, uniparty shitheel.

Then I wake up and nothing has changed.
Biden threatening to give amnesty to illegals via executive order.
Biden threatening to declare a climate emergency and become a senile dictator.
Congress given Biden everything he asks for without any limits.
Will we make it to November or is it already too late.

80 All of this makes me sad. I understand that there are forces that have their own momentum and cannot be stayed - like time and tide - I don't like it, but cannot stop it, and although resistance is futile, it is necessary nonetheless.

I see no reason to fund Ukraine's war, I really don't like funding both sides of the Israeli war, I see no need to poke China with aid to Taiwan, and I think the only reason TikTok is targeted is because it is not owned by the globalists.

Sad.

Ukraine has just starting refusing consular services to Ukrainian males living abroad - to have your passport renewed, or to receive any other service from the Ukrainian government, you have to go back to Ukraine, where of course you will be immediately drafted into the army.

The other hot idea that the Deep State has come up with is having NATO troops garrison Western Ukraine, to free up Ukrainian troops for the front.

But these Western troops under no conditions will actually start fighting with the Russians.

And since you are a politician and you're among the worst people on the planet, you will immediately guess the things that might be in the pages you didn't get to see. You know what you've done and so you know just how bad your dossier *could* be, but not how bad it actually is.

But you walk away from the meeting knowing that you - and everyone else - must *never* find out how much they know. So you do as you're told, and serve the Party.

The US and NATO have subbed in 155 mm artillery for all the Soviet era 152 mm artillery that Ukraine's military was outfitted with prior to the war...which you as a former Army guy probably already know.
And we can't make enough 155 shells for them to fire off, and they have depleted our reserve stocks.
And yes, Ukraine is losing this war, despite all the amazing!!! videos on Youtube that indicate otherwise.

It is sad, but the saddest thing is all the Ukrainians getting slaughtered in combat for a lost cause.

Make peace. Try and end this crazy, brutal war, before NATO and the US get sucked into it, and it becomes something far worse. Despite all the blatherings I see on some parts of the Intertubes, the Russian Army is almost as incompetent as the Ukraine army.

Since public polling is about shaping narratives, it's just a sign that the whole, "Replace Biden with someone else," period is over. Democrats aren't going to replace Biden and everyone knows it now. So, it's time to shape the narrative that Biden is going to win in November.

How is polling supposed to reflect the mood of ballot counters in Atlanta who run the same ballots through the counting machines on repeat?

The Dems and the left are rapidly cheapening their leverage - the usual exposure stuff isn't going to be blackmailable fairly soon at this pace - even at the networks - especially at the ones that are openly antisemitic (MSNBC, CNN), employ out and proud gays like Maddow, or use "exposure" artists like Toobin as respected analysts. If these folks have a seat at the table, gets pretty hard for the IC to blackmail others for the same behavior. The only thing that will work soon is videos of some politico actually doing MAGA stuff....

I, personally, don't agree with this. Christians are Christians because they acknowledge that they are sinners. If there is sin in one's life, and there always is, when someone points it out, it can be acknowledged and let go.

This is made more difficult because, as Putin pointed out in the Tucker interview, TPTB own the media and will only allow out what they approve, so one who fights will always be attacked and not allowed to present the other side of the story. Accordingly, someone who is always attacked, I see as someone who is trying to do good.

Hey, SiD. It's your day today.

Scream Day, celebrated on April 24, sounds silly at first but the day has its merits. Modern-day hustling has led to a lot of pent-up anxiety and pressure, which we all need a healthy way to channel. While meditation is a go-to way to relax, many psychologists are convinced that there is nothing like good old screaming to let it all out. Releasing built-up frustrations through screaming is surprisingly calming for the brain.
