In the view of Jim VandeHei, CEO of Axios, artificial intelligence will "eviscerate the weak, the ordinary, the unprepared in media."
Which is all of them. Yes, obviously Axios, but who is there in that industry that doesn't fit at least two out of three of those categories?
VandeHei says the only way for media companies to survive is to focus on delivering journalistic expertise, trusted content and in-person human connection.
Stop laughing, this is serious.
"Fast forward five to 10 years from now and we're living in this AI-dominated virtual world - who are the couple of players in the media space offering smart, sane content who are thriving?" he added. "It damn well better be us."
Axios is a money-bleeding garbage mill, and always has been. As competition for stochastic garbage heats up and AI delivers for pennies a year what takes a six-figure salary for pompous overeducated leftists, we can only hope to see the evisceration VandeHei envisages.

I wonder if bidding has opened on the hotdog concession.
The company has also introduced a $1,000-a-year membership program around some of its journalists that will offer exclusive reporting, events and networking.

No, I don't think they are worried about it being truthful. To be fair, the algorithm can probably stay more consistently on message than a human would.

I would say the point of 'AI' is an appeal to authority and cost savings. You can say it is impartial (when you have built in all the garbage to make it say whatever it is you want.)

Accuracy and Truth is not a priority for these fuckers- except 'their truth'. But like 'Our Democracy' it is neither.

That said, it was good stuff, the scrambled eggs were hot, the bacon pretty crisp, and there was sausage, grits, potatoes, French toast sticks, mini-donuts and fruit -- and even the salad bar was there.

I think I'm all done, everybody in my stack is covered with being filed or extended. Just watching for the few remaining acceptance / rejection filing notices to come over the software transom.

Helping out the other preparers get to the finish line. Then I need to detox from all the caffeine, stress, and short sleep stints. Last night I was dreaming about problem tax returns. That's a sign.

JQ, if you're here: Yes, though melatonin plus magnesium will do that okay. My concern was *staying* asleep for a decent amount of time. And despite an hour's nap yesterday p.m., I did get about six hours last night. The real test will be tonight after I've been up all day at work. Maybe only one 10mg dose, one gummy cube, will be enough.

This stuff costs about $1 per square, so I want to get my money's worth and not have to spend $50 a month.
