Genius Supervisor Dean Preston and Mayoral candidate and Recovering Drunkard Aaron Peskin have proposed a law requiring grocery stores to provide 6-month notice prior to closing.

Neither of these two have ever held a real job.

44 Morning m!

Yes, we are in the new home as of Monday. I've not been posting because on Monday afternoon ATT called and told me that they would not be able to do the fiber install on Tuesday as scheduled a month ago.

Many phone calls and many people decided that they could get it installed on May 1st.

So, I got a hotspot device from the library yesterday and am now in touch with the world...

54 Jurist.org, of all people, has an amazingly even-handed piece on the Gaza truck drone 'aid-worker' hit, pointing out the obvious legal issues involved. I think they're obvious, but I guess most people don't spend years dealing with legal ins and outs of warfare. That strike was totally legit and the 'aid workers' were legit targets even if the strike was an oversight or accident; which I don't think it was, I think the 'aid workers' were dirty as shit. Izzy lit up that truck for a reason.

Also, these 'aid organizations' are not: they are global 'advocacy' skinsuits and for all practical purposes subversive, espionage intelligence companies masquerading as aid workers.

60 Via Insty : 4:36 am by Sarah Hoyt - The UK has released a scathing report about transgender care there. Partially how the clinics refused government orders to cooperate with the NHS investigators, but also this:

Gender self-ID became so politically toxic that all the mainstream political parties have now ditched it, but readers should not make the mistake of thinking that any of their thinking has changed. The efforts of trans ideologues within the parties have simply shifted to “conversion practice” bans as the new vehicle for achieving the same aims.

62 Education was always the lynchpin.

The other thing that is the most... disheartening is how predictable it all is. Every doom and gloom forecast, every 'do this and it will lead to this' for the past 100 years has come to pass or is in the process of coming to pass.

So much is just riding on inertia of the system, but at the same time, that moving mass is getting nudged in the opposite direction. The foot soldiers believe that the power (not control over it, but the success and resilience and goods created by that system) exist irrespective of the foundational aspects of that system. So, by taking control over it, they believe that they will still reap the benefits of that system. This is also predictable (see Venezuelan oil production.)

68 I keep looking at this and thinking 'This does not make sense.' The only thing that does is that there are essentially two groups. One huge and the other relatively tiny.

The huge group is just idiots who do not understand reasoning. Foaming zealots who cannot grok that what they want/believe is completely counter-productive and self contradictory.

The tiny group is no less... delusional, but they understand in some sense what they are doing. They just think they will be able to rule the ashes. And that will somehow be... good.

117 Uh, oh.... water crisis on Havv-vvaii!

And recent years have seen compounding problems: less rain, leading to significant droughts, and repeated jet fuel leaks and PFAS chemical spills contaminating water systems. All of this significantly limits available water use for locals, many of whom say tourism is only worsening the situation. Just months ago, the world's largest surfing wave pool opened up on the island — filled with freshwater.
"They're not using it to drink or to support life, they're using it to make money. They're commodifying it," said Healani Sonoda-Pale, who is Native Hawaiian and a member of advocacy group O'ahu Water Protectors. "… We are on the verge of a greater catastrophe."

Say it. Say it. You know you want to!

And as global temperatures continue to rise, that will only get worse — not just on Oahu, but across Hawaii.

120 Don't do it. Don't go full retard... too late.

But drought isn't the only issue. Warmer global temperatures also fuel more extreme precipitation, bringing more rain in a shorter duration. According to Giambelluca, that won't necessarily help maintain the water supply, as steep watersheds will channel that water into flooding, and rising sea levels will prevent rainwater from having a place to go — not even into the aquifer. Rising seas are already causing significant erosion on coastlines.
Giambelluca explained that as sea levels rise, the ocean will infiltrate the underground freshwater system, physically pushing that resource out while also infiltrating wells and other components of the water supply system that will need to be adjusted.

I think one of the biggest issue is what I call the 1% Solution. Many government programs are focusing on an issue that effect some small percentage.
If 15% of petroleum is used for transportation and personal transportation is less than half of than (around 6%) then all of these car fuel rules are addressing one 15th of so called CO2 global warming.

The European far right is skillfully seizing the moment, promising an agricultural overhaul and a chance to stick it to the city slickers. By inserting themselves into the farm fight, far-right figures have the potential to broaden their appeal. 150 One or two of us might just want to read up on what the phrase "Tikkun Olam" really means, instead of only the pamphleteer theology of its perversions and misuses. And then, motes and beams being what they are, one or two might also look into the many perversions and heresies of their own religion that are on the march, before suiting up for the pogrom.
