We'll start with a quick peek at the headlines. ![]() A Smart Military Blog U.S. Navy Facing Major Shipbuilding Delays While China’s Navy Expansion Accelerates The review shows the Navy’s Block IV Virginia [attack] submarines, which were bought from fiscal 2014 to 2018, are running 36 months behind schedule…. [T]he Block V [Virginia class] boats bought from FY19 to FY23 projected to be about 24 months behind schedule….So the question becomes, when we get kicked in the teeth, and the way the armed forces are being hollowed out, we will, how will we as a country respond? NeverTrump Time to Rethink Your Never Trumpism Let’s look at where our country is right now. It’s in a hole, and our alleged president is still digging. We have a wide open border. Fentanyl is killing tens of thousands a year. Ten million illegal aliens have streamed across. We know many of them are criminals. They’re raping and murdering Americans right now. We can be relatively sure that a significant number of Chinese military infiltrators are among them. That will end badly unless we have a president who will do something about it, which Biden certainly never will. We can also surmise that a large number are active terrorists who, at some point, will launch a killing spree If Donald Trump is not elected president in November, this will continue for another four years. That is a lot of dead Americans. And you’ve got to ask yourself if protesting mean tweets worth those lives. Because that’s the choice you’re making. Even if you sit out the election, you’re effectively supporting Joe Biden by not actively supporting Donald Trump. Yes, I know you’re upset because there is a binary choice, and I know all the clichés about not wanting to choose the lesser of two evils but guess what? You’re faced with the choice between the lesser of two evils. That’s just the choice that exists. It might not be fair. You might not like it, but that’s what it is. And you’ve got to choose. Not choosing is choosing. Not choosing is choosing Joe Biden. And if you choose Joe Biden, you’re choosing a lot of deaths just because of his border betrayal.I know every election is “the most important of our lifetime”. Bullshit. They can't all be the most important. I don't like Trump. I think he's a thin-skinned narcissist for whom this entire campaign is a personal vendetta because his feelings are hurt. Instead of laying out a bold agenda, he's whining about 2020. Guess what? I think the Dems stole that election too. But that was 4 years ago, it doesn't matter now. If you want to make things personal, tell us what you're going to do to the bastards, not complain about what they did to you last time. None of that matters. I was never a neverTrumper. I voted for him in '16 and '20, and I will vote for him this fall. Eagerly. Because I think this election does fall into the “most important” category. This country is on the brink after Obama's third term. I'm not sure it will survive a 4th. NYPD, Focusing On The Important Stuff NYC mom fined for letting 4-year-old take an emergency wee in the park: ‘Absolutely insane’ They're at the park, and the kid has to go. The restroom is closed, and he's about to wet himself, so she shields him and allows him to pee in the corner. “My son was like ‘I really need to go – I’m going to pee my pants,’” Sasaki, a professional dancer and actress who lives in Washington Heights, told The Post. It was “an emergency.” Desperate, the fast-acting mom shielded her little boy as he pulled down his pants to quickly urinate. Moments later, five or six parks officers approached Sasaki, and, she said, “hounded” her. “I was bewildered and very confused. [One] aggressively told me that this was illegal and not okay to use the bathroom outside,” said Sasaki. “He said, ‘Let me see your ID, I’m writing you a ticket.’ My jaw dropped – I was frozen. I didn’t know what to say. I said, ‘You’re writing me a ticket for what? You cannot have a playground and not have bathrooms.’” Sasaki reluctantly complied and was handed a summons with a $50 fine, with a hearing date of July, 2.Well thank God NY is so safe that five or six officers can respond to the emergency of a little boy peeing. Glad the subway's not a war zone and that the knockout game isn't the official city pastime. Otherwise this would be stupid. OJ's Dead O.J. Simpson dies of cancer at age 76 And he died on the same day as the guy who murdered his wife and Ron Goldman, how's that for a coincidence? My 19 YO son asked me about the trial and what it meant, and this is what I told him. “The racial rot in this country goes back to that trial. By the 90s, racism was dead. Nobody cared anymore. Oh, there were scattered individual racists, there always will be, but we had racism beaten as a society. But the race hustlers were realizing that if we had beaten racism, their gravy train was derailing. So they cast the trial as being about OJ being black, and not about whether he had killed 2 people. I watched the trial with my boss at the time. He was a black man, college educated, upper middle class, whom I'd known for a couple of years, and I don't think the subject of race ever came up between us. Like I said, nobody cared. We were work friends. When the verdict was read, he stood and cheered. I just stared at him. I didn't understand then that if there was no significant racism in America, there was no need for the race hustlers. I draw a direct line from that trial to the DEI madness that's ripping this country apart today. And the race hustlers are richer than ever”. Here's 10 minutes of Norm McDonald trashing OJ.
Gonna Be A BEAST Chevy Teases 2025 Corvette ZR1, the Turbocharged American Supercar It’s not secret that plenty is not good enough when it comes to the all-conquering mid-engine Chevy Corvette. The base coupe is a performance bargain, a 490-hp rocket that is already knock-knock-knocking on supercars’ doors. Order a Z06, and with an extra heaping of horsepower, better aero, and a harder edge, and you have a half-priced supercar with one of the greatest-sounding V-8s to ever exist. The Z06 pumps out a full 670 hp, and it was a shoe-in for MotorTrend’s 2023 Performance Car of the Year award—a Corvette absolutely swimming in “the kind of special sauce that makes the car seem worth it regardless of price, a sense of total desirability, the feeling that nothing was left on the table.” Well, what was left on the table was a pair of turbochargers. That’s what the ZR1, which Chevrolet just teased on social media, is bringing to the party. “No #Corvette has ever moved quite like this,” the copy reads. “The #ZR1 is coming this summer.”900+ HP? Yowza! Shall Not Be Infringed Who will ATF shoot next? The Malinowski family described ATF’s tactics as “reckless and incompetent, and completely unnecessary.” In their statement, the family points out that ATF had Malinowski under surveillance for days. They had surreptitiously installed a GPS tracker on his vehicle, and undercover ATF agents had made several controlled buys from him at gun shows. More importantly, they knew where he worked and where he lived. They didn’t need to raid his home at zero dark thirty. “At this stage there is no publicly available evidence showing whether agents knocked on the door or announced their presence, adequately identifying themselves,” the statement reads. “Bryan’s wife Maer only heard loud banging immediately followed by the crash of the front door being forced open.” ATF had a host of less-lethal arrest options available, any one of which would have spared Malinowski’s life. They could have arrested him at the Clinton National Airport, where he served as executive director. They could have pulled him over on his way home and arrested him in his vehicle. They could have called Malinowski’s attorney and told him to turn in his client. If agents were dead set on confronting Malinowski at his home, a callout would have been much safer for all involved. Once the home was surrounded, agents could have contacted Malinowski on his cellphone — they knew the number since they had a warrant to search his phone — and ordered him to come out with his hands up. If he didn’t answer his phone, a bullhorn would have sufficed. A video from a neighbor’s doorbell camera shows that agents arrived at Malinowski’s home in 10 separate vehicles. If they would have activated the emergency lights in all of these squad cars, Malinowski’s entire neighborhood would have been bathed in red flashing lights. Malinowski would have known immediately there were law enforcement officers stacked outside his home and not criminal home invaders. Finally, agents could have simply slowed down and waited for Malinowski to answer the door, rather than breaching and storming in, which caused the armed confrontation. “Absent exigent circumstances (danger of losing evidence-drugs down the toilet; propensity for violence or escape) case law requires law enforcement officers to give dwelling occupants a reasonable time to come to the door and let them in,” Malinowski’s family said in their statement. Unfortunately, ATF’s raid planners chose the most dangerous option — the one tactic most likely to end in gunfire — that any seasoned tactical officer would utilize only as a final course of action, after all else had failed.I don't think enough people realize that this raid, or Ruby Ridge, or Waco or dozens of other raids, is not to peacefully resolve a possible crime with an arrest and trial, it's to demonstrate that the government can and will attack and kill you if it wants to, so better do just what they say. No obvious woke shit. Minor "stick some POC actors in". The scene where the Vault dwellers are trying to decide what to do with the Raider prisoners is very subversive. They all want to "rehabilitate" them, except Rico from Hannah Montana (Moises Arias). Darkly hilarious. They are doing a decent job so far. Definitely true to the spirit of the franchise. Hmmm, about our current military state . . . The “greatest military in the world” has been getting it’s ass beat by illiterate poors toting AKs for the last 60 years. Maybe leaving all those ARs in Trashcanistan for ISIS and Iran was actually doing the US a favor? Years ago my wife was clothes shopping in a small shop in a small town. Another lady was there with her young son, not sure of age but 5'ish. He kept bugging his mom he had to pee, she finally told him to go outside, she might have meant stand outside, do not know. Well the kid walks out, pulls it out and pees into the street from the sidewalk. I will say that kid did need to go, very impressive stream. Mom of course was mortified.

NEW - $65,000 gold teacup stolen from Japan department store A Japanese department store discovered a golden teacup worth over 10 million yen ($65,000) had been stolen on Thursday, after it was showcased in an in an unlocked box. The teacup, made of pure 24-carat gold, went missing from a Tokyo outlet of the major department store chain Takashimaya, where an event displaying an array of gold items for sale is being held. The stolen teacup was one of the most expensive among over 1,000 pieces of shining teaware, tableware and artefacts on display, a Takashimaya spokesman told AFP. “It was kept in an unlocked transparent box at the time, so it could be taken out easily for customers to take a close look,” the spokesman said. Security footage showed a man stowing the cup in his bag and fleeing the scene, local media reported, with police seeking the apparent culprit. The display will continue but Takashimaya will firm up its security, the spokesman said. Posted by: andycanuck (vtyCZ) at April 11, 2024 10:14 PM (vtyCZ) 39

Stephen Miller @StephenM
There are a little over 6 months until the first early voting begins in the presidential election. Six months! Any conversation about what bogus worthless, meaningless border EO Biden might issue before then is a giant distraction. An elaborate misdirection. Biden orchestrated a criminal invasion of the United States. He added more illegals to the country than the population of almost every American state. A mass resettlement of the global third world into our world: the monumental effects of which are only beginning to be felt. [...] Under the rules of DEI, illegals will be at the front of every line. First in the hierarchy. First in all things. You and your family? Last. So understand this. Your vote in November is a simple one. Become the third world. Or seal the border and send the lawbreakers home. That’s it. Those are your choices. Your only two choices. And know this too: if Biden completes his transformation, it is permanent. Irreversible. Unrecoverable. Make your choice, America. https://tinyurl.com/4wujmmx7 Posted by: andycanuck (vtyCZ) at April 11, 2024 10:20 PM (vtyCZ) Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at April 11, 2024 10:20 PM (63Dwl) 54

>>" If you want to make things personal, tell us what you're going to do to the bastards, not complain about what they did to you last time." Well, Trump didn't just complain to the air, he took his case to secretaries of state and governors, who said f**k you, he took his case to courts that said, f**k you, they then slapped a RICO charge on him, they are now in the process of bankrupting and imprisoning, with literally no one in the allegedly organized GOP apparatus helping him one iota, he's now got his guy and DIL at the RNC, they are filling lawsuits and winning some cases, they hired Scott Presler so that's something positive, so this notion that all Trump does is complain is f**king bullsh*t. Meanwhile, in Ukraine:
1. The Russians again hammered Ukrainian electrical power plants with long-range missiles, doing grievous damage to the electric supply. If the war magically stopped today, Ukraine will still be economically crippled for years by the lack of power. 2. The US proudly displayed a large number of AK rifles which had been seized from Iranian arms smugglers and announced the rifles would be sent to Ukraine. I wonder if Russia will return the favor by sending some rifles to the Mexican cartels? 3. Bizarrely, a multinational peace conference for Ukraine has been planned, but the Russians are not invited. When I lived in Monterey, CA... near Laguna Seca raceway, the annual visit by the IMSA crowd was a real treat. You could hear, and tell the difference in cars from miles away. At that time the Chevy Corvettes had big block naturally aspirated V-8's... deep rumbling, throaty sounds compared to the screeching turbos on the 6 cylinders in Porsches. The Lambos and Ferraris with their V-8's or V-12's screamed... but not like those old iron V-8's in the 'Vettes. BMW had an early flat plane V-8 back then in the M3. It fucking howled. The Film Threat guys saw Civil War and said it isn't what you'd expect. And they seem pretty sensitive to woke.
Noticing the odd way they divided the factions I wonder if they were intentionally trying to make it so it wasn't a real left v right scenario - they mix red and blue states into the various camps. Of course I assume most movies are woke until I hear the opposite... Posted by: 18-1 at April 11, 2024 11:13 PM (ibTVg) 160

Insty's: HMM: The Film ‘Civil War’ Is Not Entirely What You Think It Is.
[Writer/director] Gartland, who’s English and whose work has included “Ex Machina” and “28 Days Later,” has a subtle eye and a quirky sense of drama. He never answers the question of how the war began or who the “good guys” are. The film opens with a news announcer saying that 19 states have seceded including Texas and California, which have formed themselves into the “WA|” or Western Alliance. Yes, Texas and California are on the same side. As I mentioned, don’t apply your own personal political views to this film. If you do, you’ll miss the point. The film uses the “Civil War” as a backdrop to explain and expand on journalistic ethics. The cast is made up mostly of B-list actors, with some familiar character actors. Reviews so far have been mixed largely because of frustration with Garland’s refusal to take a side or give much context to the fighting of the war. Last week, I praised the trailer for being surprisingly apolitical, so it’s nice to see that maybe the movie delivers on that promise. https://tinyurl.com/38stre3h Posted by: andycanuck (vtyCZ) at April 11, 2024 11:28 PM (vtyCZ) 191

It was a Bull Snake, which has the same color pattern as a rattler, so I jumped pretty good when I saw him. Well your logic really sucks. If Trump has a revenge plan then the last thing he should do is tell us what those plans are. By all means give the targets plenty of time to make plans, destroy evidence, etc. The smart plan is to make it that the first inkling of a revenging Trump is the 'knock a la BATF' on the door at 3AM, literally or figuratively. Our military is already stupid enough to announce plans well in advance, let's not emulate them.

Rear Adm. Phillip Sobeck said "bureaucracy took over" in what needed to go aboard "prior to deploying the ship, in my opinion." Speaking as part of a contested logistics panel at the 2024 Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition, he said, "we sent the wrong thing in some cases." In other cases, not knowing what was in the pallets aboard ship was a factor. The one essential thing to know about OJ's murder trial in 1995. Really, the ONLY thing you need to know in order to understand the acquittal:
The crime occurred in Brentwood. The standard procedure would've been to assign the trial to the Brentwood Division of the LA County Court, which would've resulted in an all white (or nearly all white) jury. The elected prosecutor, Gil Garcetti, instead decided to assign the case to the Central Los Angeles Division, resulting in an all black jury, or nearly so.. Garcetti had 100% control over this. No-one compelled him to do it, or even pressured him to do it. Garcetti explained after the trial that he had sent the case to downtown LA because the courthouse there was bigger & could more easily accommodate the press. The stupidity was self-evident. Everything that followed was a result of that. Vincent Bugliosi* (the Manson prosecutor) wrote a superb book about the OJ murder trial. What I wrote here wasn't something I dreamed up. Every prosecutor in America recognized Garcetti's unfathomable professional error. *The Bug was a flaming leftist, but that is of no import to this discussion. Louie Prima was an early superstar. He had a huge hit with Sing, Sing, Sing. This was covered famously by Benny Goodman. Also covered about another thousand times with various artists. He became wealthy by this license.
Then, he recorded another hit song Just A Gigolo which was also a big hit. But he failed to copyright that and another rock band of the '90s exploited that failure and now owns the license. I have visited his resting place in New Orleans. It is above ground otherwise it would be under water. His tombstone reads Life Goes On Without Me. The only reason the owners (unless they are skilled race drivers) dont immediately kill themselves in these 700-1000 hp vehicles is because of the traction control\ stability control\wheelspin control with all the modern computer controlled stuff. On most cars today they are like F-16s, you use the controls to tell the computer what you would like to do and the computer decides whether to do it and when. Sometimes they give you a bypass that supposedly shuts the controls off, but I bet it really doesn't. That's the kind of power Funny Cars had when they started.

The Pentagon has a solution to all these delays though. They will appoint a blue ribbon commission to pay a consulting group to study the problem and issue a report concluding that these programs are delayed because things aren't getting built fast enough. Taxpayers will pay $300 million for it.
Posted by: Victor Tango Kilo As someone who's worked in both the public and private sector, it's even simpler than that. You reach out for the "expert" or "experts" and the conclusion that they are expected to "discover" is the unspoken part of the contractual agreement. Never high enough in the hierarchy to have done this myself, but it was common knowledge in both realms. The only difference is that my boss in the public sector owned up to it. You not only get who you pay for; you're also getting what you're paying them to find. I'm not saying that there aren't real genuine and ethical experts in various fields out there, just that it's extremely rare in a corporate or institutional setting to hire those folks. And, the banks are going to send 1099s to the debtors and the IRS to let them know about it. This will be a double whammy: if you had 100K forgiven, you add that to your actual income. You will be in a higher tax bracket so you will owe more on the money you did earn + $30,000 or so more on the forgiven debt. We need to tell all those voters who think Biden did them a favor, how badly he screwed them. Posted by: An Observation sez China Joe not my president at April 12, 2024 02:49 AM (CecP5) 333
