Multiple puppies.

_____________

While Her Majesty was recently bedridden recovering from her knee replacement I would bring a puppy to visit for cuddle time with Mommy.

One night, I was bringing them all into their pen from outside when they got through the barrier. Five little monsters made a mass attack, leaping on the bed, kissing Mommy and trying to burrow next to her.

Total chaos as she tried to protect her leg and I had to haul them off one at a time. I needed oxygen afterwards.

I am on my third ICD battery (an ICD is a pacemaker with defibrillator paddles). Replacing a battery is less work than implanting the device in the first place. Not even an overnight stay for a battery replacement.

Replacing the whole pacemaker should be the reverse of the initial implant. I'd think you'd be in overnight for that.

**********

Typically, modern pacemakers will self-monitor battery status and will revert to an energy saving mode ass the battery nears the end of its functional battery capacity. The monitoring facility or cardiologist's office can detect this and take steps to schedule a replacement in plenty of time. Typically the pacemaker is tucked under the skin and pectoral muscle in the upper chest and the wires connecting it to the heart run through the subclavian vein to the inside wall of the heart. For a failing battery the wires usually will be functioning just fine and it is fairly straightforward to just open the pocket, remove the old pacer, attach the wires to the new pacemaker and put it back in the pocket. They don't change the battery (they are built in). They just exchange the whole pacemaker. A new pacemaker of current vintage will have many more programmable features than one inserted 10-15 years ago.

Good luck!

The Vanilla Ice Cream that's the foundation of such a shake? Yeah, they make that from scratch, right there in the store. And a Super Great Ice Cream, it is.

Build your shake from that, and quality ingredients and a skilled Soda Jerk, and you'll be served with a delicious work of art.

Moreover, not only do you get a nice Parfait Glass full of chocolaty goodness, but that stainless mixing cup you get along the Parfait Glass, contains enough *extra* shake, to refill said glass 2.5 times over.

Yes, it's enough to quash your appetite for dinner. lol

- people who list things they believe on yard signs
- Ben

- middle school staff psychologists
- the white grad students who came up with "Latinx"
- sufferers of insomnia
- cat moms
- Vermont organic dairy cows who enjoy soothing NPR monotone during the milking experience
- people who tell you they're into astrology but then claim it's only an ironic thing when you ask them why
- people who have life tenure as the result of getting four plagiarized papers presented at MLA conventions
- people who still wear covid mask while bicycling
- people who won their 4th grade class poster contest
- people who have emotional service animals with counterfeit vests

247 Watching American Horror Story: Delicate.

Slow start, chunks of woke bullshit, but now I am hooked on the story. Part Fausty, part Rosemary's Baby, part Gaslight, part Omen(?).

Gotta give Kim Kardashian credit, she is doing a good job as the protagonist/victim's agent. I hate her fat ass and giant duck lips, but her acting is decent.

Opening credits creep me out.

There are too many country club RINO Republicans as they won't state what this is: A commie coup, or at least a solid attempted coup. I think it's a coup thanks to all the new 'illegal immigrant' voters the Dems allowed in.

But we are in a worldwide communist coup attempt, hating on those who actually produce, like farmers, and loving on those who do not, like holders of college ethnic lesbian and climate change poetry degrees who block traffic as they protest the use of oil, wearing all kinds of attire made of oil, of course. The COVID-1984 Dempanic was another 'X' on the totalitarian BINGO card.

Commies go after the family. Check.
Commies go after the Christian religion. Check.
Commies take over education/indoctrination. Check.
Commies take over health care. Check.
Commies cheat at elections. Check.

So, Comrade, how's the weather in Yakutsk?

292 Another instructive instance of MSM fair & balanced:

Missouri executed a man last night (caucasian) for the double murder of his cousin & her husband.

ALL the press coverage I saw quoted people talking about how he'd rehabilitated himself in prison; how 5 of the jurors* who recommended the DP now said they've changed their minds; how his original attys' fees were capped at $12000 each, thereby leading to ineffective assistance of counsel.

NONE of the press coverage I saw mentioned that he had raped the female victim before killing her with a shotgun, or that the murdered couple's 4-yr-old child was present.

* there should be a special place in hell for people who contact jurors after the fact.

If you're wearing a pacemaker, climbing a flight of stairs can wind you. I've lost around 85 pounds over two years, feel pretty good even with a heart operating at 50% power, yet stairs still kill me.

For me, the best thing is to walk up gradual inclines. Nothing too steep. Just enough resistance to make the legs work a little bit. Walking a couple of miles every couple of days is also really good. The only way to climb stairs is to get your wind back. The only way to get your wind back is to walk longer and longer distances. (Can't recommend jogging with a pacemaker.)

The option should never be open to them. A lot of their other powers should be strictly curtailed as well. They are unfit to pass judgment on much of anything. Wherever they can be sliced out of decision making, they ought to be.

I'm open to ridding ourselves of them altogether.

342 I'd shop Wal Mart for oil n' filters, before the Auto Shop stores.

Commodity Pricing usually pays off.

Plus, places like Big Lots, Dollar General, Family Dollar, also usually have at least, oils, on the shelves. No filters but your two quarts would be a lot cheaper, there.

Don't buy generic oil filters though. Not going to type a treatise on it, but OEM and Premium aftermarket filters often have check-valve, oil-bypass, pressure related safety features that the white box ones will lack.

Comes to saving your engine, saving $4 just doesn't make sense to get the un-safe cheapola cans.

Recovery is going good. At this point its almost a distant memory. There is still a little soreness in the chest depending on what I'm doing, but I haven't exactly been taking it easy. I'm pretty much back to my usual routine. I'll say one thing, I feel like I'm 20 again, so they really did rebuild me. I do the cardiac rehab 3 times a week. It was optional for me because I healed fast, but I decided to go anyway. Its a joke really. I set the machines a little on the heavy side and just go. 388 Social Security plays the same loop over and over with the same exact interruptions.

Three hours and 57 minutes, three different people. First one didn't handle business accounts. Second person got it, understood what the issue was but couldn't fix it because it was a collection issue. Collection person seemed thoroughly disinterested but is supposed to call back at a later date with a resolution. It's not my issue it's a family member. Since I am not a paid preparer nor have POA, I fibbed and told them I was the family member. It's an IRS mistake. 2 years ago they tied a different EIN to his name and that asshat owes PR tax$. We've written multiple letters and called at 5 times. Odds of getting a call back are small. They were threatening to lien his bank account. The IRS is broken and staffed by poorly trained, for the most part, nimrods.

I retired from my profession at 52. I realized I was nonexistent in my wife and youngest kids life. I was basically a boarder in my own house. I spent the next 6 years as a custodian at the local school. Had a blast there. I would have a bigger retirement account if I had continued. I might also be dead. Amen. I had a choice of slogging along for a few more years or bailing out early. Not once have I regretted the choice to retire early. In the early years I wasn't sure how I was going to make it fly but everything worked out in the end including my choice to move to New Mexico. In hindsight it was like stepping of a cliff edge into thin air and discovering the air is thick. And now 8 years later I am about become the owner of a fucking moped with 17" wheels.

My way of thinking about your close call and how it impacted you is at some point we get a mulligan in life be that through a life changing event or simply reaching a point in life where you realize this is it. My mulligan was the second type and it was liberating. I think you nailed it: at times I feel like I a bit wiser version of my younger self. I was recently selected to one of the presenting writers at the annual Lit Fest here in Cruces; that mulligan gave me the space and clarity to chase that side of me just as much as the CT125 is going to get me out in the landscape where I plan to spend many days pursing my photography. You got it spot on: you are most certainly never done as long as you stay young; many don't as you saw.

404 Lost in Space.

I'd hope you won't desert pimpify your 125. Leave it closer to stock, maybe.

What weight you put ON it, should be the auxiliary fuel tank (looks like a circular canteen), cargo rack, requisite Milk Crate cargo carrier and (pro tip), desert racer handgrip shields / guards.

You want a Skill, use a DECAL.

If you were buying an '81 Trail 110, I'd not give a damn about the Desert Pimpifications. But, you've just ordered a NEW BIKE.

It. Deserves. BETTER.

I am joking around a lot about pimping out the CT 125 because it is kind of hilarious to think of it as death on two wheels. The mods that are coming is a box on the back so I can haul camera and unexpected night in the desert gear when I am out in the surprisingly remote areas just outside of Las Cruces. After that will be a USB port, some extra fuel, some handguards for sure, and a bar between the handle bars so I can mount Garmin map/emergency satellite device. I have to learn the bike and what I need through experience before I start tossing money at it. For the most part is going to stay stock because I can't out engineer Honda. Well, unless I get all sideways in a year or so for a big bore kit .

Jim

Honda for some reason got rid of the dual range on CT 125. I almost thought I would go hunting for a 110 that has that. In the end I decided I would accept that deficiency because I get to be out put-putting around instead of rebuilding a bike. Mostly likely twice because I have knack doing things wrong the first time. Then there is the reality that I am an age where, if the CT 125 can't get me somewhere I really shouldn't be there no matter how much I should be there. Reality, from time to time, must be accepted.

I grew riding into the ground a two sprocket Trial 90. Once that big sprocket was on the bike it would go anywhere and we did. It was a magnificent machine. These small bikes are not for most riders, but for us, the touched in the head, they are a hoot.

And I think the Trail 110 with the Dual Range, was the best of the best.

I can be on the bike or treadmill forever and don't even break a sweat, and no shortness of breath at all. It definitely wasn't that way before.

In the afternoon I waded out to the car in ankle-deep water, and I was concerned that the passenger side door might be flooded, but it wasn't. I moved the Buick to the drier side of the street. No problems when I left work and came home, so I dodged a big fat wet bullet.

423 I'd shop Wal Mart for oil n' filters, before the Auto Shop stores.
