Because of his employment at the museum, the man had access to the premises outside of normal opening hours and no one noticed him put up the picture.

For a brief moment, one German man achieved his dream: his artwork hanging in a famous museum.

But just hours later, the aspiring artist’s hopes for his big break were dimmed when his stunt instead landed him in big trouble with his employer – and the police.

The 51-year-old exhibition technician and self-proclaimed "freelance artist" smuggled one of his paintings into the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany, on February 26 and hung it on a wall in one of the galleries, according to German tabloid Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Munich police. After security discovered the newest addition to the museum’s collections, they promptly took down the display and the man was fired.

69 Quite impressionistic. But there's another one too even stretchier:

The Adoration of the Shepherds is a painting of the traditional subject which was painted during the last year of El Greco's life. The painting is a work which the artist made to hang over his own tomb in the convent of Santo Domingo el Antiguo in Toledo.[1] His signature, in Greek, may be seen in the lower left corner.[2]

El Greco's remains were transferred to another church after a few years, but the painting remained at Santo Domingo until the 20th century. The painting is now in the Museo del Prado which states that it can be considered the artist's last work.[3]

Dominikos Theotokopoulos, most widely known as El Greco, was a Greek painter, sculptor and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. El Greco was a nickname, and the artist normally signed his paintings with his full birth name in Greek letters, often adding the word Κρής, which means "Cretan", in Ancient Greek.

Could have signed it "Moron".

The Adoration of the Shepherds
El Greco (Domenikos Theotokopoulos) Greek
ca. 1605–10

El Greco’s late work is characterized by a tendency toward abstraction and almost dancelike, restless movement that animates the painted surface while also serving his narrative. Here, the shepherds’ lively gestures indicate their excitement at Christ’s birth. The nocturnal setting heightens an otherworldly palette. El Greco often made replicas or variants of important compositions; much like Claude Monet or Paul Cézanne, the artist used repetition to work through a theme, belying the notion of a singular original. No fewer than eight versions of this subject were in his studio at his death. This work repeats features of another painting he made for Juan de Ribera, an influential figure in the Roman Catholic church in Spain.

The Adoration of the Shepherds is a painting of the traditional subject which was painted during the last year of El Greco's life. The painting is a work which the artist made to hang over his own tomb in the convent of Santo Domingo el Antiguo in Toledo. His signature, in Greek, may be seen in the lower left corner. Wikipedia

The Adoration of the Shepherds
El Greco (Domenikos Theotokopoulos) Greek
ca. 1605–10

Full details under "Catalogue Entry".

"The present picture was painted late in El Greco’s lifetime, between 1605 and about 1610. It was probably made as an altarpiece for a private home, but this is uncertain. El Greco sold versions of popular compositions out of his studio, in addition to fulfilling commissions. No less than eight Nativity paintings remained in the artist’s studio at his death in 1614, and six are listed in the 1621 inventory of his son’s possessions, including one that is close in size to this work."

Within 15 minutes, others trickle in, take a seat at a nearby table, and begin playing a game of cards.

Their Greek accents are thick, even after residing in the United States for more than 50 years. They belong to a certain fraternity – a brotherhood that in many ways is stronger than the cultural bonds of the old country. And all of them have spent their adult lives painting bridges."

Yeah, considering the size of that foundation, there's at least one hidden cavity in it. No one builds something like that "for a better view" without also having an ulterior motive.

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: America’s Bonds Are Getting Harder to Sell.

A series of weak auctions for U.S. Treasurys are stoking investors’ concerns that markets will struggle to absorb an incoming rush of government debt...
Behind their caution lies a growing conviction that inflation isn’t fully tamed and that the Federal Reserve will leave interest rates at multidecade highs for months, if not years, to come...

While few fear a failed auction—an unlikely scenario that analysts said could potentially trigger prolonged turmoil—some worry that a glut of Treasurys will rattle other parts of the markets, raise the cost of government borrowing and hurt the economy.

Note that 401ks of the Boomers are already being converted from stocks to T bills. It's safe, you know?

Which is to say, we are at the high-water mark of demand for US debt.

Which just makes me laugh so much--loaning your money to the government to fund your retirement.
Driving up inflation.
So you need more for retirement.
But you already quit working cause you're 65.
So you can't make more.
You fucked up-- you trusted the government.

234 If you could print money (like the US government can), why would you ever need to borrow any money from anyone? Of course you wouldn't need to. What are you going to do borrow some of the money you printed?
