I almost like this, but there's something I don't quite like about it. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe the fairly jarring light transition halfway along her body front-to-back.

But she appears to be a ginger, which I like a lot.

66 I like the use of red here -- in the dress, the clothing draped in the chair, her bra. Even the wood of the dresser has a reddish tint to it. There's also a some warm pink in the highlights on the model's skin that warms her up too.

The girl is interesting. Her pose is very classical, but she isn't idealized. Her body is more realistically rendered. I like that her face is in shadow. It helps you focus on other details.

Ah, one of the more unusual names in this day and age.

Couch, settee, davenport, sofa. All the same, basically. Sure, a "davenport" is usually (but not always) boxier and a "settee" is usually (but not always) more elaborate, but they're all the same damn thing. "Davenport" was a brand name, I think, that became a generic (like "dumpster").

Although I've never seen really elaborate couches referred to as anything other than a "settee." The closer to Baroque it gets, the more likely it is to be a "settee" in my very limited experience.

117 Artist John Koch had a certain randiness, it seems. The model's Day of the Week panties are missing.

John Koch’s Best Work Is With Naked Subjects
It is sometimes forgotten that the art of painting lends itself to a great variety of beguiling appeals.

"Except for the sexual interest in his naked models, Koch’s talents were most vividly engaged when he was painting expensive objects–old carpets and antique furniture, china and glassware, bedding and drapery, and the cornices and moldings in the beautiful rooms that are the settings of so many of the paintings. As I made my way through the exhibition at the New-York Historical Society a number of times the other day, I found my attention more and more drawn to these details rather than to the paintings as artistic wholes. And this, in turn, reminded me of a passage in one of Henry James’ essays, when he was writing about the Paris art scene in the 1870’s."

It's actually a nicely done painting but, no, I wouldn't hang. Thanks, CBD.

I forgot about "chesterfield!" Yet another one, also a former brand name IIRC.

A chaise longue is different from a sofa/couch/etc. It's a "long chair" (literally). It has a back and an extended cushion and often one (but almost never two) arm. You lounge on it upright or approximately upright. Some are long enough to nap on. A chaise longue is usually a one-person piece of seating furniture, like a normal chair.

The closest analogue I can think of in terms other words is a "daybed," but I think that's higher in the taxonomy (e.g., all chaise longues are daybeds, but not all daybeds are chaise longues). A "swooning couch" (or "fainting couch," if you prefer) often *is* a chaise longue, though it has a specific idealized purpose beyond simply lounging.

228 March Jobs Report crushes expectations, 303,000 jobs added, 3.8% UE. Wage growth still much higher than inflation at 4.1%. Joe Biden is a job creation machine! That's over 900,000 jobs added the last 3 months. Reminder, Donald Trump lost jobs during his term, but even before Covid hit, he was averaging just 166,000 jobs added a month.

THE ECONOMY IS BOOMING!!!

This is why the Fed went hawkish yesterday. You don't need rate cuts in a booming economy.

they're going to have to cut rates by June because the inflation data will demand it and the pressure to do so if the inflation data keeps improving will be too much not to.

Politically, we get 2 rate cuts before Novemeber and it's going to be the strongest economy that any president has ever had to run for re-election on.

This needs to be the message. The economy is absolutely booming. Everyone who wants a job has one and people are earning enough money to spend it on discretionary items. Keep preaching that, Mr. President and you will have a true landslide win in November.

The propaganda is thick against Biden's economy.

That's not a joke. Look at the 1963 congressional record where the communist goals to conquer the US were entered into the record. It's tied to that, as well as feminism. A very important part of the BLS report that most ignore is "hours worked." February's report was actually decent in that regard, and March's is a mixed bag:

In March, the average workweek for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls edged up by 0.1 hour to 34.4 hours. In manufacturing, the average workweek was unchanged at 40.0 hours, and overtime edged down by 0.1 hour to 2.9 hours in March. The average workweek for production and nonsupervisory employees on private nonfarm payrolls edged up by 0.1 hour to 33.9 hours.

It's a generational thing most likely. I don't care for tats, particularly on women. My wife has none. I don't worry too much about others.

I know some of the 'ettes have them but since none of them are looking to land me it doesn't matter. To each their own.
