We all know that Scheming Chuckie Schumer is a scummy prick with delusions of grandeur and an insatiable desire for self-aggrandizement. As the joke goes; the most dangerous place in D.C. is between Schumer and a camera.

Oddly, he represents a state with a huge Jewish population, so one would assume that he would be more sensitive to the safety, security, and autonomy of the Jewish homeland. And of course, he's Jewish! But his progressive politics swamp any cultural or religious loyalty, and his only loyalty is to the reflexive liberalism of most American Jews. But that liberalism is being challenged by the naked anti-Semitism and virulent hatred of Israel that has come to the fore in the wake of the October 7th pogrom and the Israeli response. Large swathes of the Democrat party base have gone public with their hate, and have expressed it violently on the street and vilely in the halls of power.

This is the Democrat party!

And they are the ones that Schumer is placating and courting with his attacks on Israel and his disgusting interference in the domestic politics of a sovereign nation with a democratically elected government.

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer calls for new elections in Israel

During his speech, the New York Democrat reiterated his strong support for Israel but also heavily criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his repeated rejections of a two-state solution, saying at one point Israel’s leader has “lost his way.”
“At this critical juncture, I believe a new election is the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process about the future of Israel, at a time when so many Israelis have lost their confidence in the vision and direction of their government,” Schumer said, noting the United States should not try to dictate the outcome of another country’s elections.
That decision, Schumer added, is up to the Israeli public, “a public that I believe understands better than anybody that Israel cannot hope to succeed as a pariah opposed by the rest of the world.”
Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish official in U.S. politics, also called out other Israeli officials for what he said was “extremist” rhetoric. He cited Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and its National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as examples for this. Smotrich, Schumer said, has openly called for the forced displacement of all Palestinians in the West Bank, and Ben-Gvir facilitated the “mass distributions of guns” to far-right settlers.

He is bringing the politics of division and hatred from America to Israel, via the conflation of defense of country and culture with extremism and racism.

Netanyahu was deeply disliked by many Israelis, but he is conducting the defensive war against Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north the way most Israelis want. The country was shaken to the core by the savagery of the October 7th pogrom, and is coalescing around love of country, pride in its armed forces, and a quiet and cold resolve that "Never Again" will never again be a mere catchphrase.

Every time an American politician deigns to tell Israel how to conduct itself, the country becomes more unified. If it were up to many American and world politicians, Israel would have been overrun by the 7th century savages massed on its borders, with appropriately somber statements made after the fact.

Schumer (and his fat-f*ck sidekick Jerry Nadler) is an insult to Judaism, an insult to the many Americans who are cheering Israel on in its existential fight against the barbarians, and an insult to the very concept of Western culture.

And lest we forget, those barbarians have said time and time again that we are next! "First comes little Satan, then comes Great Satan!"

I have a hard time believing any politician has any sort of principled stance on anything unless; 1. their staff tells them so, and 2. there's money to be made.

What's interesting about modern warfare, is the "gone too far" crowds appear to be the only ones who have the data on 'oo killed 'oo. And everyone pretends like that data is accurate, as long as it fits the narrative.

Personally, I would consider targeting civilians as going "too far," but of course the only reason anyone thinks they're targeting civilians is because the "gone too far" crowd listens to the propaganda coming from the people who are being targeted.

This is the biggest reason their attempts to change Israel's government are failing now; they have done it too many times in the past and once everyone knows the game, the game is up. Barak's most important legacy is as the man who completely destroyed the Labor Party in Israel, after it had controlled the government for about 50 years. It is no longer a significant force in Israeli politics.

So, they would have the ride sometime in the first half of February, which yeah, probably qualifies as the worst weather of the year in Portland.

The ride started getting quite popular, and they started getting complaints - that the weather was bad.

So, they moved the date of the ride, which is going to happen next Sunday. It's 73 and sunny here today - the weather is not supposed to be as nice next Sunday, but "the worst day of the year" it ain't.

They haven't changed the name of the ride, though.

I've not seen the movie. Based on projections of deaths and casualties on BOTH sides involving a ground war in Japan, nuking a couple of cities spared the lives of MILLIONS. Remember, more probably died in the fire-bombings of Tokyo than in either city alone, and that was using CONVENTIONAL weapons.

Here's the thing, having spent a great deal of time, both professionally and personally, trying to understand the narcissist mindset... a concept that is very misunderstood by the general public, it might be accurate to, in some ways, view the narcissist as not really human.

If one thinks of humans as being the totality of what we are, one of the fundamental aspects of humanity is a moral compass (there we go again), driven by SOMETHING like a concern for one's fellow humans.

It's the main thing narcissists lack. When God was giving out the moral compass (broadly between birth and age 9), they weren't in the line. They never got it. And they won't get it later. A fundamental part of humanity is missing.

Those are the people who rule us.

No, it seems psychopaths are generated prior to birth, and the main difference between the psychopath and the narcissist is that the psychopath really doesn't have an axe to grind. They don't feel, they're not like other humans in that regard, but they start to recognize (one hopes) at some point that they don't like the consequences of using other people, and getting themselves into jams (like prison). So they modify their behavior.

Someone was talking the other day, about the rot in Hollowood, how it permeates all levels.

I don't know about Boeing, but I believe that is true of the military, that middle management (junior officers more than NCOs) are being groomed to become upper management, and they play the game that gets them moved up. The carry out the orders of the top brass, and that gets them fully committed to the mission.

Yes it is - and the complaints about the military leadership is a problem, and it no doubt impacts weapons readiness and maintenance capability. I no doubt can find questions on whether this platform is better than this platform. And drones are bringing into question the tank as we know it.

Logistics are as much a part of war as anything else. Again, our generals may have screwed it up - but we do logistics better than anyone, hell its why we won WWII. The Germans had better tanks and artillery, and for the first part of the war both Germany and Japan had better fighters. But logistics matters. Russia moves nothing except by rail - easily interrupted. China can't forward project naval power.

So yeah - fools.

In 2016 I 'followed' an LA Times 3 day tracking poll daily. It was neck and neck with Trump a couple points behind until the day Hillary was beaten down with the bollard of death. After that, in 3 days he was ahead all the way up to the election.

But those were the 'before' times when voters preferred a healthy candidate. Before the cheat.
