Now one exception would be the model for Manet,s odalisque, who ended up being a good painter in her own right. But at the time she was the mistress, she was only a model.

If you squint a bit, I think it's that dark section on the left separated by that angular line representing the right edge of the mirror. You can sort of see the objects on the table in front of her "reflected" in the mirror.

89 I like the intimacy and spontaneity of this. Because both subject and painter are women, it has a different feel than if the painter was male. The woman's back is to the viewer like she is unaware that we are there, OR she does see us in the mirror and is viewing our reflection -- like how you have a conversation with your husband/wife through the bathroom mirror while getting ready for work. Either way, it seems very private and personal. The brushstrokes give it a quick, candid impression of this private female ritual.

Despite all the jokes, fishnet stocking also fit a similar niche. Something about patterns, breaking up large areas of skin...not sure. I think the effect is amplified when the contrast in color between skin and choker/stocking is greater, though.

I remember one like that. Dude took off her choker while she slept and her head fell off.

Similar idea in the horror/suspense movie "Orphan" where a girl gets adopted and always wears a ribbon on her neck. Turns out she's an adult with a condition that makes her look childlike and the ribbon was hiding rope scars (iirc). Obviously she was psycho and violence ensued.

Oh that? That's a painting of me in my youth. I asked for a nude - I was quite a looker back then - but the artist misunderstood me. He got naked to paint me. I was too confused and timid to correct him, and the painting turned out okay so I just let it go.

I don't really remember who he was. He was mostly into birds, I think. But it's a nice painting, even though it isn't exactly what I was after. The experience was extremely awkward, so I never looked him up again.

213 I found out today that there is a new generation of IMAX called IMAX laser. It uses dual lasers instead of the older dual Xe lamps which dramatically improves brightness, and the aspect ratio has changed from 1.9 to 1 to 1.43 to 1, so it fills up more of the screen (it looks more like the old TV aspect ratio).

Luckily, one of the newly equipped theaters is at the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. Guess what I'll be seeing.

Folks need to understand what we had if we are to restore it. Kind of like how our government used to operate versus the kleptocratic and corrupt aristocracy we have now.

Right now, we are a semi powered authoritarian state but that power waxes and wanes depending on people's geographic location and what they do for a living. In some places, the rule of law remnants are still the predominate way that things operate--in other places, they don't (primarily urban areas).

Went out front and.....no package.

At the time, I only had four cameras on the front that each recorded live to SD cards as well as the cloud.

No package...no indication that the truck had actually been within view of the house.

Find a calim, got the replacement item.

30 days later, the still unopened box shows up on the front porch.

And no sign of a FedEx truck in any image.

That is one reason why I buy from Amazon. Get fast shipping in my area and the packages are not damaged. Hate giving Bezos money but much less hassle to get credit for missing or damaged packages than dealing with US mail, UPS, or Fedex. Had good experiences with Wal Mart online too.

I'm waiting for a parcel from New Zealand. (Really.) Ordered it on 2/26; arrived in LA on 2/28; got "held for clearance" and "with border agency" (!) until 3/4. It's still at a "sorting centre" and has to be sent to a "delivery office."

331 Crazy part about UPS is, for several years I did the Christmas Helper route just because our UPS Driver and I were good friends, and we would be able to ride around all day telling each other jokes, laughing and delivering packages. And getting paid for it.

And Jeff is one of the best drivers in the business.

So I learned a lot about how a good UPS driver makes things work, including knowing every business on your route, and their best times for deliveries, and so on.

So knowing how it CAN work, this crap really pisses me off.

Steven Weber, the younger (?) brother in the Wings sitcom. I thought he did quite well and made Jack, the central character who is corrupted by the evil in the hotel, much more likable and tragic.

The TV-movie, two two-hour parts, was filmed at the actual hotel where Stephen King and his wife stayed and which inspired him, the Stanley in Estes Park, CO. I've visited there; gorgeous place. A local TV station had a promotion. If you won, you got to spend the night in the hotel, and *watch the second part* of the TV-movie, right where they filmed it!

They'll also increase every credit, grant imaginable -childcare, daycare, child credits, home healthcare, etc. - under the guise of being family friendly because they prop up those small businesses to keep them from yelling as funds are going into communities to support the unhoused, new Americans.
