The Moral Equivalence Of The Left Is Structural, And Evil

Morality is a living, breathing, changing thing, and can be manipulated to accommodate the needs and desires of humanity. In fact, a moral imperative from one era can be flipped on its head as political needs change.

Sounds nuts, because it is.

Morality is a fixed point in our world, and to treat it as a malleable political or philosophical tool is to reject the very point of it. Whether one accepts the source of that morality as God, or one simply accepts its existence, morality provides a powerful structure with which to navigate the world, and the assumption of a flexible moral structure leads to boundless evil.

The Enlightenment may have accelerated our scientific inquiry and provided a structure for religious and intellectual freedom, but it also gave us a platform for moral relativism that perversely allows some to reject those freedoms in favor of a rigid orthodoxy of personal pleasure and the rejection of anything even remotely noble or edifying about the human condition.

By rejecting the concept of God or religion as the source of a moral code, and replaced it with the historically shaky idea that man is perfectible by his own devices, we are confronted with things like abortion as practically a sacrament of the new-age religion of personal entitlement and pleasure. The idea of a good greater than oneself is relegated to some quaint and naive view of man that has no place in a modern world. Thus the idea of love of country, of respect for tradition, for honor, for care for one's fellow man is an anachronism.

Just make sure that government is taking care of our access to personal pleasure, and it doesn't matter what else they do! 400 channels and endless entertainment on demand! So what if people who think differently are languishing in jail? So what if our country (what's that if not a cute and passé idea) is being overrun by looters and murderers intent upon taking what we have built? We can still get great Thai noodles delivered at 3:00am while we smoke high-quality legal marijuana! And that pesky fetus will be gone in a few days so we can get back to what feels good.

Just make sure that those horrible religious people who believe in antiquated ideas like human life is precious stay out of our neighborhoods! Arrest them! We need to get to the next protest against Israel...you know, that tiny country borne out of the ashes of the Holocaust that simply wants to live in peace! They are occupiers or colonists or genocidal...or whatever...our Middle Eastern Studies instructor told us that!

And let those illegals (what a mean word!) across the border. Give them food and clothing and money and plane tickets to everywhere. Well, except here. We don't really like them, so keep them in those horrid flyover states that don't even know how to make pour-over coffee! That silly talk about American Exceptionalism is so boring!

Sure, I am making fun of the silliness of the intellectually flaccid soft left. But they are the useful idiots of the committed left that has been working assiduously for 100 years to undermine the foundations of America, and they are doing a great job.

Maybe it's time to return to those supposedly dated concepts of Duty, Honor, Country. They worked for a very long time, and while our technological society is amazingly advanced, have we not regressed in other, more important things?

5 There is no morality in the Left except for pursuit of power because they need power to perfect people. The Left learns zero from history and dismiss the failure of the Second World with lots of excuses, and if we try it (insert place name here) with (insert names here), IT WILL WORK!

And it must be remembered that the Left sees human nature as a disease that must be cured.

8 Reading the first paragraph I'm thinking 'no way' and then get to the rest of the rant and see that CBD is making a strong case for why morality is not a changing thing.

Of course humanity has a great ability to rationalize why it is ok do something that is morally wrong and history shows the long track record of civilizations and leaders doing this.

14 Reminds me of a great essay that was linked on the HQ several years ago. The west used to be largely an honor based society. That was replaced by being a dignity based society according to the essay. I will say that honor was still considered a good thing.

Then the evil forces got the madness of crowds to adapt a victim based society; exalting victims instead of heroes and that has led to the current insanity. 'I was born the wrong gender' is a huge victim token.

18 I remember a video where Carl Benjamin (aka Sargon of Akkad) was defending the spread of Western civilization by the British through colonialism. The main point was that, just as science and technology evolve over time, so too does culture and morality. Primitive societies just slaughtered their captured enemies, and later, they were often enslaved. Later still, they were often held for ransom, and today, they're usually held and provided for, and returned unharmed and without condition upon the end of hostilities.

How much of this moral and cultural progress is due to religious influence vs pragmatism is debatable, but we're certainly reaching a crossroads where cultural and moral changes may no longer be "good".

22 We have delinked morality from reality. A surgeon who can cut the healthy breasts off of a confused teenage girl is committing great evil but deludes himself that the money he/she is making comes from a theoretical good. The protestor who supports the death cult known as Hamas ignores the killing of babies and rape of women by Hamas because of an asinine academic theory of intersectionality and the even dumber idea that everyone can be labeled as either the oppressed or the oppressor. Reality is the actions of individuals. Morality is the culturally shared sense of the rightness or wrongness of those actions.

Dignity based can be turned into "victim based" if you turn it on its head, and treat it as honor.

"I am dignified in my actions" is the ethos of a dignity based society where "I am honored by how others think of me" is an honor based system.

"You are keeping me down and refusing to allow me dignity" is using the language of dignity to enforce honor, and it is even more disruptive because it is an honor based system that can be enforced by people who have no intention of being honorable, just willing to impose behavior on others.

That's because it's simple: The left is so overwhelmingly morally correct that what is morally correct is literally defined as "what the left wants, right now". That's it. That is their entire moral compass.

What is malleable for them is reality, as they reject the entire concept of objective reality. They believe that they are so right that reality as understood by each individual must give way to whatever their need of the moment is.

The left has been on a unending mission to destroy us as a moral people. Everything is relative. One COULD argue that without a higher power (i.e. God), there IS no morality, only that which we ourselves define, which is anything. Thus, you have the "moral" equality made between a culture that upholds individual freedoms and the right to life and liberty and those that feel that humans are fungible, interchangeable, and merely chattel to be used by their betters.

Or as the joke goes, if all cultures are equivalent, then cannibalism is just a matter of taste.

It's even worse than that. It's whatever reality grants each individual lefty the most power, clashing against the other moonbats, and whoever wins (up to and including via brute force) dictates what the reality is.

It's a bit ironic but they way the progs have crafted an ideology that is consistently inimical and united vs. all other ideologies - is to have the members engage in a constant epistemological thunderdome against each other. 58 Morality is a fixed point in our world
Disagree, CBD. Morality is entirely dependent on your frame of reference. You and I feel like it should be fixed because we received it from religions that deny the power of other gods - and therefore our frame of reference is absolute.

But, those that worship other gods have other frames of reference. This does not make those other frames of reference equally valid or right. But it behooves us to understand this, because without noting the source of our frame of reference we cannot defend it.

"Moral relativism" is not bad simply because it blows with the wind, but because there is no tertium quid. It's founded in our minds and hearts, and that makes us the final arbiters of it. So, evil is simply "that with which we disagree at the moment." Or, worse, "that which makes us feel less than superior at the moment" - for that is unreasoning self-centeredness.

The important thing to understand is that Progressives are NOT hypocrites. They actually have a different moral reference than those raised in Christian (and Jewish) culture/religion*.

What is it that Reagan said about freedom always being one generation away from extinction?

"(The Mexican government) has failed to establish any public system of education, although possessed of almost boundless resources, (the public domain,) and although it is an axiom in political science, that unless a people are educated and enlightened, it is idle to expect the continuance of civil liberty, or the capacity for self government." (TX Dec. of Ind., 1836)

Now, history will show it was folly to rely on a public system of education to educate and enlighten the people, as we see in our public schools today, but what have WE done outside of this to ensure freedom and civil liberty are continued as long as possible?

Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at March 03, 2024 12:41 PM (ynpvh)"

It was on a lot of people's bingo cards by the mid-90's. Let's be honest here, Uncle Jimbo who was never quite right after coming back from 'Nam and liked runnnig around in the woods larping as a colonel with his drinking buddies was pretty much spot-on, while all of the "respectable" conservatives who spent decades circle jerking around pundits who turned out to be shills and sellouts were wrong.

Think about how much time people like VDH could have saved if they'd realized back then what was actually going on. Some people did and they were roundly mocked.

72 Reminds me of a great essay that was linked on the HQ several years ago.
Posted by: PaleRider at March 03, 2024 12:14 PM (3cGpq)

I don't exactly agree with that. Pretty much all of Western society was Guilt Based, ie. an individual took responsibility for his/her own actions.

Guilt is the foundation of honor.

Most Asian and all Socialist/Communist/Leftist cultures are Shame Based, ie. the idea that people outside of you determine your responsibility for..well, anything.

In Asian society, that would be losing face or shaming your family. In our Leftist-run America, obeying the law, getting and keeping a good job, going to church, raising your children well and to be good citizens, makes you evil and deplorable because someone else doesn't have what you have, you are shamed.

Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at March 03, 2024 12:47 PM (8sMut)

It's always the catch; corruption is antithetical to morality, but is always with us as we humans are prone to it and every other vice under the sun (an not under the sun). Mexico is KNOWN for its corruption. We are just starting to see some of the depth of US corruption.

Posted by: Moron Analyst at March 03, 2024 12:18 PM (JCZqz)

Nope. Sin has been sin since the beginning of time. Morality didn't evolve. What happened was the folks following what we consider to be morals (because we were raised in a Christian society) grew and became dominant.

Where our problem has arisen is when people who desired to follow their own hearts managed to convince enough folks that "evolution" of things like morals was possible, and they started twisting them subtly to direct people away from correct morals into another frame of reference.

A left-wing legal analyst claimed this week that the First Amendment makes the U.S. “vulnerable” and makes it hard for Democrats to be able to “regulate speech” without being accused of censorship.

The Friday remarks from former federal prosecutor Barbara McQuade on MNSBC came while she was discussing a book that she wrote about “disinformation.”

It was said as early as Deuteronomy (6:7-9):
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

If you value it, you'll pass it on. And only if you pass it on will it remain valued.

150 I think the worst problem the Left 'morality' has... is that it is self defeating. Modern Society depends on trust. We trust others to know how to do their jobs, and do them adequately. We put rules (laws) in place to force those who won't follow the rules, to be identified and cast out.

But when there is no rule of law, when we can no longer trust the system, it will break down. They are championing the breaking of the very rules, which keep THEM safe and secure.

The Times is doom-scrolling its latest poll showing Biden on his way to certain defeat to Trump. Yesterday’s installment gave the raw numbers—Biden is eroding across the board.

Today the Times is out with another headline of doom, whose contents could have been part of yesterday’s story, except the Times wants to mile their poll for maximum effect. Biden’s own voters think he is too old:

220 You can't go 'back' to anything. Duty, Honor, Country is dead.

The Country is dead, it was killed by the Uniparty to keep control over us plebs. Duty to such a Country is madness or evil. Honor is faintly remembered and if it is at all, it ought to compel those who feel it's tender chains to oppose the Oligarchs and Plutocrats who have taken power.

But Honor is dead too. It died in 2021 of lack of sustenance. Just as the Tree of Liberty died from dehydration.

You can, for non-psychopaths, believe there is some innate empathy that would lead to the realization that "Hey, I don't like being treated that way! Maybe I shouldn't treat other that way". Then there's also the "How can I get the most pleasure and profit out of a situation" that can override the first, and unfortunately does in many cases, thus reinforcement of societal norms is necessary.
Take my kids; they believe it is morally acceptable to steal from large chain stores. When I confront them with the reality that enough folks doing that lead to closing of such chains and the loss of employment for those who worked there, they have no good response. How they got to believe that has to be "friends" and the school system.

238 Off Topic, but apropo. Ace mentioned a few days that during the covid panicdemic he had a life threatening illness that could have killed him. He didn't have covid, but at any moment covid, or rather the panic, could have killed him.

I have EXACTLY that story.

In may of 2022, I showed up to my GP, late, because I didn't have covid like symptoms other than a cough, so I wasn't prioritized, in fact deprioritiezed, I live in Australia, so your labels might be different.

I initially had a bruised rib, which caused a poor expansion of my lungs, and I wore a mask out of respect, though I bitched about it every time. I finally said to myself, "4 weeks is too fucking long," and I went to the doc, I have a good doctor, not my judgment but by my thoracic specialist, who Immediatlely put me on a prophelactic treatment of ammoxycyllin, he recommend NO PAINKILLERS AT ALL, so that I can understand what is happening and then help him. I got the initial 10 day treatment, and I showed up for the second referral, after he had already referred me to the thorasic, however you fucking spell it, specialist, and THIS is what happened.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at March 03, 2024 06:00 PM (XKj0h)

239 I walked in to check in for my appointment in advance of going to the specialist, and maybe (turned out to happen) expand my regimine of anti-bac's, and the administrator, fancy name for a secretary, asked me why I'm not wearing a mask, I said, "I don't need to" she asked me to prove it, I said, "get on with it." she said, "do you have flu like symptoms?" I said, "No, I have pneumonia like symptoms." She said "You need to put on a mask. " I said, "That is the OPPOSITE of what I'm supposed to do." And because she's an adminstrator/secretary, she kicked me out of the clinic and had me wait outside next to the emergency drop off for ambulances, and DEMANDED that I wear a mask. "If you don't follow the rules you might not be seen." is what she said.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at March 03, 2024 06:03 PM (XKj0h)

240 I sat outside, waiting for my doctor, a very small indian dude came out and asked me, "why are you sitting out here?" I said, She, I know who she is, told me to wait here." He was visibly pissed off.

I'm a relatively large man, but the anger in this dudes face was clear. As he brought me in for the consult, I started to put on my mask because it's the law, Not an option, not good practice, it was THE FUCKING LAW, and my doc Doctor Dariush, a great guy, said, "Take that off, I have to or I lose my job, don't you put on a mask again."

I get my final consult, being sent to the specialist, and my prescription for the antibiotics was reafirrmed. And like I said, this tiny man, who took his job serious was FURIOUS with that secretary bitch.

In total, at the time, I had a 3 MONTH cycle of amoxycillin. Doctors don't always tell you the truth of what is happening, knowing that stress is one of the greatest issues with recovery.

At any time, my lungs, and I'm a smoker, so my lungs are already a bit of a mess, could have been overloaded with infection and the infection could have jumped to my heart and fucking killed me.

242 But the secretary's and the politicians sure patted the fuck out of their own backs as I could have died at any moment.

Related. We, my wife and I, have a small collage of pictures we keep on the wall, so that our little man can see his family and understand who he is and keep memories. The most prominant picture of me on that wall is an UGLY fucking picture. I look like I just came back from a terrible fight and woke up from a coma, but it's me sitting at a computer chair, and my little man holding my hand, as I am leaning away from him, even though I wasn't contagious.

It's one of my favorite pictures, even though there is nothing aesthetic about it, because I look like a bum, and Lukas, my little man, looks like a stray child looking for a raw potato, the back story is that I had a massive coughing spasm bringing up black sputim.

Little man askes me "you okay poppy? Popp Okay?" he was just over 2 years old.

I said, "yes Lukas, Poppy just has it tough" or something like that.

Lukas walked up to me, and held my hand and said, "You're okay poppy I will help you."
