Who moved my cheese... never read that one.
Heroz it was, in my day. Bleh. Posted by: JQ There was another one that all salaried employees were given for required reading. Each department even had weekly meetings to discuss the chapters. The rolled it out to upper management first. By the time it trickled down to middle management I almost (almost) felt sorry for my boss. Her heart wasn't in it and with 6 people in her department, 2 of them who just skimmed the chapter before the meeting (one of them me), not all that interested in the book to begin with, she was beating a dead road killed possum. Posted by: m Could have been. For about 5 years the bosses were given some other waste of time program to pass onto the peons. Of course the bossed got to go to an all expense paid training weekend somewhere nice. By the time it go to the plants, it was coffee and donuts at the meetings and some pizza lunches. After a while, you might get a cup of coffee. After a few months it would die and be forgotten. We called it "ran out of donuts" Then a new brainfart would hit and away we'd go again. Gemini gives a bit of a peek into the mind of our Tech Overlords. Retarded and evil are pretty good descriptions. "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals." "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive... --- Why don't they see that? -- ? That's the entire point. It's intentional because of that. You hear people discuss "systemic racism" and other silliness, but this is actual systemic processes being put in place that people will be accustomed to in 12-15 years and only nutjobs on right wing blogs will post things like "It wasn't this way before 2020" Schools/ school boards around the country weren't given free chromebooks and integrated Google platforms for academics because Google wanted to help kids. That's their data. That's information on children for them to control and sell and change at their whims, same as promoting black George Washington. That's been a 1+ decade now, too, and it's normal. You could no more remove them than fly to the moon. Folks don't quite grasp how screwed we are. Lucy was a perfectionist. However, she did not know what was funny, from what I've read. Desi and the others did. Watching Lucy's comedic performances, you'd think she was a natural, a natural cut-up, goofball who instinctively knew how to act funny and do that. She didn't. Her performances there were practiced and timed to a T. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at February 24, 2024 07:33 AM (w6EFb) 194

Yes, i know that in reality we are governed by criminals and perverts who don't believe in anything nice or good, but.... just conceptually, on paper, is there some mechanism where people writing bills in congress can pass a first draft over to scotus to say "Hey, this would be fine, right?" Almost like an OMB scoring but for constitutionality instead of budgetary feasibility. Or is that actually not legal for some reason? Posted by: Warai-otoko at February 24, 2024 06:25 AM (9UlRk) The Constitution says that the Supreme Court may only hear a "case or controversy." In 1793, President Washington approached the Court for their opinion on some proposed legislation, and they said "Nope, we only do cases or controversies. No Advisory Opinions. _____________ The congressional staffers and lobbyists are responsible for most, if not all of the legislation written recently. People you didn't vote for. People with an agenda that may, or may not jive with the "elected" official they work for and purports to support said legislation. I'd like some enterprising "reporter" to ask one of these congress critters during a stump speech for the next bill to actually quote from it. The can't. Because they didn't write it. You obviously do not understand the system. Take for example the 2nd Amendment: A progressive/Liberal/Marxist/Communist/Democrat political entity wants to take your weapons contrary to your constitutional rights, so the pass a law full well knowing it is unconstitutional and will be defeated in the courts (Ninth Circuit excepted). The aggrieved citizens spend $5 million in attorney fees and five years defeating the law in court. The significant Attorney General appeals the decision. The aggrieved citizens spend another $5 million and five more years on the appeal... lather, rinse, repeat. Commie.gov knows they will lose...eventually in a generation or three.
