They would then go on to beat Finland and capture the gold. It was 44 years ago, I didn't know squat about hockey, but I remember how exciting it was. Looking back, it's easy to see that this was the catalyst for the resurgence of America after the malaise of Carter's term. We beat the Reds in hockey, Carter was defeated, the hostages came home and Ronald Reagan proceed to make America great again. All these years later I still tear up when I see a clip of the famous game winning call (Psst! There's one under the fold). Do we believe in miracles? OTD 44 years ago, we did. ![]()
I Don't Know How These People Sleep At Night Red Bull thieves steal £850,000 worth of energy drink in staggering heist in Belgium Not a lot to say, his was a few years back, but that's a lot of Red Bull. Plus I wanted an excuse to use the title for this post. Mystery Picture I'm linking the picture rather than embedding, because it might be considered NSFW Someone posted a picture of a poster they saw at a bus stop in Poland. It's a drawing, barely more than stick figures, of a woman crying and a man peeing and the tears and piss mingle to...grow grass? It's titled 'miłość', which is the Polish word for love. I've seen it posted on several forums, and nobody seems to know what it means. Maybe the Horde can figure it out. This Is Bizarre 2 Suicide Victims Shared Same Heart, Wife Long story short, a man kills himself, his heart is donated, the man who receives the heart reaches out to the first mans wife to express his gratitude. They become friends, he winds up leaving his wife and marrying her, and then later on he commits suicide too. I'm thinking that she's the common denominator, but maybe it's true what they say: The heart wants what the heart wants. And this heart wanted that woman. Indoctrination Government Schools Are Propaganda Machines However, I concede it is undeniably true that homeschooled students—like any students or human beings, for that matter—can be propagandized by any type of ideology: right, left, center, or otherwise. I know of no person or teaching materials that are truly unbiased because to be so would entail having no opinions and providing all available information on a subject without any explanations. So, every teacher, parent, textbook, online course, or forum post is, by nature, biased in some way. Of course, this fact also means that government school or private school students are also susceptible to and recipients of propaganda daily. Moreover, such propaganda is inculcated far more effectively and efficiently via government schools that continue to churn out obedient and often intellectually incurious citizens who rarely question the morality or composition of the state that rules over them. This assertion should be self-evident through obedience to mask mandates, pledges of allegiance to flags, continued support for America’s overseas “defense” campaigns, and the strong contention among many citizens that democracy and voting are salubrious for all of us.And that's the real reason the left is so against home schooled kids: These are kids who they don't get to indoctrinate themselves with their poisonous ideology. One More Reason Gen Z Sucks Gen Z are treating employers like bad dates: 93% ghost interviews and 87% have not even shown up for their first day of work Ghosting isn’t just for dating anymore. I watched it live. I was in college, too young to really understand the significance. It has nothing to do with scary boomers that make you wet yourself constantly. It transcended sport. I am not surprised you can't understand it.
Seriously. How can something that's just a sport - hockey, in this case - transcend what it is ? I get it, for many like you, you get meaning from these things that you don't participate in yet "experience" all the same. But to me, that's like being "moved" by a painting. To me, it's not different than all the effort by today's Zs and Millennials to also "feel" something by events that they don't participate in. To me ? Some folks skated around, played a game. 37 Disappointed in the NASA Lunar Lander. It could have been fantastic, with outside cameras showing us the descent and landing LIVE! But no, we get a cartoonish simulation and that's it. Then the lack of comms means all the speculation: 'did it crash?' NASA is really a bunch of amateurs.
Now this is going to have video, assuming it's not scrubbed (the California ones are prone to that): SpaceX - Falcon 9 - Starlink Group 7-15 SLC-4E - Vandenberg SFB February 22 at 11:00 p.m. ET http://tinyurl.com/3esv4atb Posted by: Ciampino - Blaming the computer or the programmers?? at February 22, 2024 10:14 PM (qfLjt) NASA optimized the landing plan for a good landing at the selected site, not for solid, live, lander-to-ground comm. As a result, the lander was designed to make an autonomous landing, which it did today. Also, the landing location is 10 degrees latitude north of the lunar South Pole. High-gain comm using the relatively few NASA Deep Space Network sites on Earth to/from there is mot like communicating with Apollo Lunar Modules near the Moon's equator on the near side, nearly always in line of-sight of a Deep Space Network site. Youth hockey (called "junior hockey" in my home town) was a great leveler of.economic circumstances in the 60s and 70s. Team pictures from that time show kids with well-to-do parents playing on the same team as kids whose parents werre barely scraping by. The sport simply wasn't expensive enough to restrict it to only those better off financially. That, and our city's parks and recreation department flooded flat areas in its parks and behind public schools to create nearly a dozen outdoor ice rinks that they kept plowed and re-iced throughout the winter months. Nearly every kid skated. Nearly every kid who wanted to played hockey in pickup games on the outdoor ice sheets. I feel sorry that kids back home today are not being afforded those opportunities. If I had a good relationship with a mom and pop employer I'd give them two weeks notice.
If it was a corporation or the like where there was no advantage to me I'd take whatever vacation / sick I couldn't get paid for and not care at all. . . . Posted by: Moron Robbie I don't know. . . I think it's probably best to approach leaving your employer on a case by case basis. After a number of discussions with the higher ups, I gave about a 9 month notice. If I kept to our agreed terms, I'd leave with a sizable severance package, accumulated vacation cashed out, etc. I did have to agree to not join two specific class action suits. No biggie for me. It worked out for everyone. My point is, approach it thoughtfully and, many times you can work a deal that makes everyone happy. Posted by: Tonypete at February 22, 2024 11:45 PM (NReIw) 239

Thing I remember was reading the game program player profiles, home and away, and the players coming from places like Moose Jaw and Saskatoon, with hardly any Americans. IIRC, the 5 Sutter brothers came from farm country out in Western Canada. Hockey players, on the teams I saw back then, were populated with just regular Canadians from all backgrounds. One had left the RCMP to try out professionally, getting as high as AAA. I really loved the sound of hockey live, back in the day when thunderous checks into the corner boards were the norm. It's titled 'miłość', which is the Polish word for love. I've seen it posted on several forums, and nobody seems to know what it means. Maybe the Horde can figure it out.
Anyway, I am originally from Soviet Union. Not Poland, but still Slavic. Second of all, the word above is not just "love". It is "mercy/grace" also. There is similar word in Russian, "milost", spelled with English letters. What does the painting mean? From the point of view of GRASS, whether people shed tears on it, or pee on it, the grass still benefits, since it receives water (with minerals of tears or pee). To the grass, the water of "sadness" or water of "contempt" is still mercy/grace. Posted by: Alexander at February 23, 2024 12:14 AM (rJZQc) 282

281 It's titled 'miłość', which is the Polish word for love.
And, you know, if i were having my belongings moved by two guys with a truck, I'd go with the "Burley" guys over the "Burly" guys. Because the later would use their physical strength to jam my stuff in the truck box, but the former, being contemplative pipe smokers, would stop and think about which order of loading would make for less work for them, and less complaints from me, the customer.

From the sports business yesterday, while I find most sports juvenile, my big problem is public funding of them.
I viscerally resent being robbed at gunpoint to finance fucking fully grown adults playing kids' games. I do not much resent taxes paid for roads, utilities, and fire protection. But being extorted for games? Get fucked. Start a league, play your games. There are church leagues, work leagues, for kids scouting, YMCA, Boys And Girls Clubs. Create your own, I don't care. But I despise, specifically, publicly funded 'sports' and would enthusiastically eliminate and eradicate every single one right down to the grade school chess club. Weird Dave is it trying to connect via wired ethernet? Can you make sure you have "wired" turned completely off in whichever settings in the program you are in? I feel like it might be trying to switch to wired.
