Every time I answer their phone call I tell them as soon as Mitch McConnell is gone, I might consider donating. As our country goes further and further into debt without any hope of being solvent, 22 fucking cocksucking "Republicans" vote to spend money we don't have on others outside of our borders.

Nearly two dozen Senate Republicans thumbed their noses at colleges and constituents by joining with Democrats to pass a massive $95 billion foreign aid bill.
Adding insult to injury, a final vote of 70-29 with 22 Republicans in favor pushed through the bill that pours American taxpayer money into aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan while doing nothing to secure the U.S. border.
With more than half of Senate Republicans voting against it during the overnight session, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was clear he placed no value on their arguments. He led the minority of 22 GOP lawmakers to hold hands with Democrats and get the bill passed. even delivering a drama-filled speech in defense of the measure from the floor.

At least my Senator Ron Johnson hasn't jumped the shark, yet.

If I were POTUS for a week, NATO would be revamped. Turkey would be gone. As well as nations who don't pull their weight. For years we paid for their defense while they played progressive faculty lounge games. I'm with President Trump. And now even some of the Never-Trumpers are seeing the light. About time that this "intellectual" started to see the light.

I don’t usually blog on “candidate topics,”or “Trump topics,” but a friend of mine asked me to cover this. As you probably know, Trump threatened to let NATO countries that failed to meet the two percent of gdp defense budget obligation fend for themselves against Putin (video here, with Canadian commentary). Trump even said he would encourage the attacker.
Long-time MR readers will know I am not fond of Trump, either as a president or otherwise. (And I am very fond of NATO.) But on this issue I think he is basically correct. Yes, I know all about backlash effects. But so many NATO members do not keep up serious defense capabilities. And for decades none of our jawboning has worked.
Personally, I would not have proceeded or spoken as Trump did, and I do not address the collective action problems in my own sphere of work and life in a comparable manner (“if you’re not ready with enough publications for tenure, we’ll let Bukele take you!” or “Spinoza, if you don’t stop scratching the couch, I won’t protect you against the coyotes!”. So if you wish to take that as a condemnation of Trump, so be it. Nonetheless, I cannot help but feel there is some room for an “unreasonable” approach on this issue, whether or not I am the one to carry that ball.

An art teacher in Canada is under investigation after parents discovered their children's artwork was being sold online.
CTV News spoke with two parents who said Westwood Junior High School art teacher Mario Perron was making a profit off their kids' school artwork.
"I'm extremely disgusted with this person. It's extremely, you know, it's unbelievable," Michael Bennett told the outlet.
The artwork made by Bennett's daughter was listed on at least four different sites for $151. Her artwork, and that of her classmates, was also found on multiple items, including $55 t-shirts, $41 coffee mugs, and iPhone cases that sold for $35.

Khan was convicted on flimsy charges following a trial where his defense was not even allowed to produce witnesses. He had previously survived an assassination attempt, had a journalist aligned with him murdered, and has seen thousands of his supporters imprisoned.

76 Watching Chris Williamson interview Eric Weinstein and they are talking about when Weinstein met Jeffrey Epstein. A few points:

Weinstein says he knows all sorts of financial types - they are a big part of his circle. Epstein was nothing like any of them.

Weinstein argues that the government could get to the bottom of Epstein's fortune easily as ALL of this stuff is document. It specifically does not want to.

Weinstein mentions when Epstein met him, Epstein knew ALL about him and his research likely meaning he had contacts at Harvard that he could get information out of. Further that Epstein creeped him out and he still doesn't understand why Epstein sought him out.

Epstein is "anti-interesting" as in the FNM claims no one cares about Epstein but any time the man's name comes up it sparks interest and attention and this is literally a made for the FNM scandal yet...crickets.

And...not surprisingly he surmises Epstein worked for a Western intelligence agency.

86 My son and I used to go get flowers for all of our girls (wife, 3 daughters) from the florist that did my wedding.

The florist loved having us come in and she would help design bouquets with her best looking flowers. I know she would WAY undercharge us. She finally had to retire after a long fight with breast cancer. (Insert Jewells - f*ck cancer here.)

My son now has his own Valentine's sweetheart, so without my special florist, I have switched to getting a live plant for each of my "girls".

They all seem to like that gift and I hope they slightly think of me when they care for the plant over the course of the next year.

And you took normal people with some credibility and let them see...something that was designed to look like say...a UFO. And then you were to have the government give completely unconvincing denials about UFOs. It would sure look like the UFO "debate" right now wouldn't it?

I have made a similiar argument before and...there is one other part of this sort of story. Namely the government literally did it in the 80s/90s. When people started seeing experimental stealth aircraft the government/media intentionally played it off as people seeing aliens...

When I drill down on any subject, I like to scour the web, and discussion forums. What I’ve noticed is some websites are obviously AI cutouts.

There is no there, there. It just reads like a badly pasted together conglomeration of wishy-washy “but on the other hand” and no definitive declarations of any sort, or if there is, it will be immediately contradicted in the next sentence.

On the negative side, statistics probably show that on average those old grades usually lead to failure. Funny thing I thought old credits had a shelf life of about 10 years? After all some fields can change drastically in that time.

He allowed that under no circumstances can anything in the household that needs replacing can be considered a suitable gift for birthdays or holidays. He mentioned something about an electric frying pan, this was not well received.

He did purchase one of the, if not the first commercially aavailable Microwave ovens for her for Christmas. A Litton, I think. Had a mechanical timer with a mechanical bell. I didn’t even know what it was, I thought it was a TV. She was ecstatic about that.

Seriously, depends. If something is out of joint (like happened/happens to me) the Chiro works great. I have this problem with my femur jamming into the socket, causing significant...discomfort. 15 minutes with the Chiro, leg popped back where it belongs and pain gone.

Maybe a good massage for muscle pain? Unless you strained/sprained it.

234 I got some tools and supplies at Harbor Freight today, and since Goodwill is right next door, I went in and prospected around. Found a weird-ass "entertainment center" that looked like it was solid oak. Well, I think the doors and drawer fronts are. The sides are clearly oak-veneer mdf board. It's at least 6 feet tall. Top third has hinged doors, middle third is open, and bottom third has two drawers, and a slide-out that looks like it was intended for a stereo turntable. I think I can turn the bottom section into an insert to go into the dishwasher bay in my kitchen counter, making the slide-out into either a shallow drawer or a cutting board. The top section could be made into a wall cabinet. Ended up paying twenty bucks for it, plus a nifty home made 30X60 inch rolling workbench.

Likewise. Mine (solid oak, NOT veneer), was perfect for the 44" JVC glass tube teevee.

Sadly, it was also perfect for a rather extensive (and expensive) suite of Audiophile stereo gear. Including a massive turntable and LP collection.

Couldn't fit all of that (any of it) onto a 30ft. sloop, so, it had to be left behind.

But, I did get custody of the two cats. I got the better part of the deal.

Or to get to the heart of it if you aren't that confident he could help, just ask friends who is the best in your area and research it yourself. You should be able to ascertain who is the best within a reasonable distance.

You need a clinic that specializes in spinal issues at your/our age. I've had problems for years and ended up at Rockford Spine Center. They have been a great help. Hope you can find something similar in your area.

I think I'll ask friends. I have LOW confidence in my GP. He's OK for blood pressure and routine stuff. But, is "medically incurious", and is so very rote, and by the O'care menu/littany/ladder of care and by-the-book process, that he's about useless for more than the routine exam.

But, I see him 2x per year, $130 per visit, and get my BP for the 6 months at a time. Getting older, I think I'll fire him now, and find a GP with a bit more of a MEDICAL mindset. I know what antibiotics and pain meds WORK for me, and want an M.D. who'll pay attention and RESPECT my intput as to those.

295 Valentine's Day . . . I've already bought a couple of traditional heart-shaped boxes of Russell Stover candies for Miss Linda, and two cards, one from me and one "from the cats." (Our tradition for birthdays, etc.) And I have a gift for her: a vintage wooden jewelry box decorated with bits of ivory, or so it looks. I spotted it on eBay when casually shopping for a new vintage pipe. The seller had it and a pipe I liked, so we struck a deal.

I've wrapped the box in V-Day paper. I'm a good package wrapper, if I do say so myself.
