Heh. Reminds me of a joke from the Cold War.

When in charge of the GDR, Erich Honecker was known to be a very early riser. He would start his day well before dawn. At sunrise, he would step outside, look to the sky, and say, "Good Morning, Sun!" The sun would invariably reply, "Good Morning, Comrade Honecker!" Honecker would smile, step back inside and return to work.

One day, Honecker was very sick and was stuck in bed until noon. He eventually rose and went to the office, working throughout the day. At sunset, he stepped outside, looked to the sky, and said, "Good Night, Sun!" There was no reply. Honecker waited a moment and then said much more loudly, "GOOD NIGHT, SUN!"

The sun replied, "Fuck you, Erich! I'm in the west now!"

112 It's a pretty painting but I'd pass hanging.

The Pythagoreans' symbol was a pentagram star and they practiced some odd rituals.

Atlas Obscura: Pythagoras's aversion to beans, though, always got a lot of attention, even from ancient writers. According to Pliny, Pythagoreans believed that fava beans could contain the souls of the dead, since they were flesh-like.

Wikipedia: Pythagoreans preached an austere life. They believed that the soul was buried in the body, which acted as a tomb for the soul in this life. The highest reward a human could attain was for the soul to join in the life of the gods and thus escaped the cycle of reincarnation in another human body.

The man asked the dealer, "will the car be ready in the morning or in the afternoon?"

Most of the men are bearded, though I see three younger ones who are clean-shaven. Shaving in the ancient world was not as simple as today -- no Barbasol or Gillette safety razors -- so it's understandable that men grew beards. But was there a general consensus among young Greeks and Romans that a young man should remain clean-shaven until he reached a certain age?

158 AP -- Conservative group tells judge it has no evidence to back its claims of Georgia ballot stuffing

A conservative group has told a Georgia judge that it doesn't have evidence to support its claims of illegal ballot stuffing during the the 2020 general election and a runoff two months later.

Texas-based True the Vote filed complaints with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in 2021, including one in which it said it had obtained “a detailed account of coordinated efforts to collect and deposit ballots in drop boxes across metro Atlanta” during the November 2020 election and a January 2021 runoff.

A Fulton County Superior Court judge in Atlanta signed an order last year requiring True the Vote to provide evidence it had collected, including the names of people who were sources of information, to state elections officials who were frustrated by the group's refusal to share evidence with investigators.

In their written response, attorneys for True the Vote said the group had no names or other documentary evidence to share.

I suspect the election was genuine. The NY GOP recruited a former Dem. They did everything they could to turn off conservative voters. It's a traditionally Dem district. Dems turned taking it back into a cause celebre.

Conservatives were depressed. Progressives were animated. Special elections are about turning out the base when overall turnout will be very down (which it was).

194 Reported by andycanuck on ONT...

The National Archives Rotunda and galleries in Washington, DC, closed to the public today after two individuals dumped red powder on the encasement protecting the U.S. Constitution at approximately 2:30 pm. They were immediately detained by security personnel. Officials are investigating the incident.

Why wasn't the broad in the red jacket also 'directed' out of the gallery when the red powder attack on the encasement protecting the U.S. Constitution was taking place? Was it because she was the video photographer - such as Alexandra Pelosi - for the stunt?

The police also didn't appear particularly alarmed, or alarmed at all, other than moving 'others' out of the Rotunda beyond filming capability.

But four sources told Fox News Digital that all progress on the FISA bill would be postponed until a later date because members of the House Intelligence Committee threatened to tank a procedural vote to effectively kill the legislation.

"Instead of playing the game through Rules and regular order, Intel decided to take their ball and go home, walking away from the negotiated text and amendment plan without any understanding of why," one source said.

Three more sources close to the Intelligence Committee challenged that narrative to Fox News Digital, saying the bill text was changed over the weekend without their consent or the consent of the House Judiciary Committee, which also worked on the bill.

Oh please, I know people in Fort Worth. The "Suspect" is a backhoe which disturbed a gas line and broke a fitting, allowing a gas leak, and the "Culprit" is a pilot light that no one thought to turn off in time.

Close a couple of military bases in red states, they obviously don't want to spend the money to have them.

The United States military, females, and dependents are in grave danger living in certain US states. Women who become pregnant or miscarry, could be left to die or be jailed. The same with female teen dependents. LGBT military members, dependents are also at risk in these states. It is in the interest of United States national security to move our troops out of these states. Where women and other vulnerable groups are at risk.

Firstly, sorry you know anybody in Ft. Worth, condolences.
But anyway, what can happen with hitting a gas line in, particularly, new developments is the soil hasn't settled in around the buried pipe. If it's nicked the gas will travel along the pipe route over a surprisingly long period of time. Eventually it makes its way into an unoccupied house's basement, puddles up, and then eventually something in the house (usually a furnace) sparks and lights up a basement full of NG.
