The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“With the prison ecosystem feeling the effects of society’s inflation,” he writes, “the poor get poorer and then the poor get desperate.” Shakeil Price, an incarcerated man in New Jersey state
Jeepers, I wonder what that inflation is for people on the outside. Can't do the time? Don't do the crime.

Quote II

“The U.S. State Department role in all of this has been a colossal embarrassment and this promotion is just another slap in the face to the veteran population.Instead of being held to account and relieved her duties [Jacobson] was promoted.”> Retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Scott Mann

Earlier today Ace covered the lousy Immigration Reform Bill and some Indian broad. Mark Dice takes a look at these as well.

While we are discussing illegal immigration. Here is a story that just stuns me. I can't believe these wetbackspeople didn't show up for their hearings. Shocked I am.

Record Number of Migrants Fail To Appear for Court Dates, Justice Department Says
Immigration judges are facing a daunting backlog of cases, especially since crossings have surged in recent years.

The number of migrants who have been ordered to leave the country surged to new highs last year, and more than 150,000 of them awaiting asylum court hearings failed to appear before immigration judges.

If migrants fail to appear for their hearing, immigration judges — who have been overwhelmed with cases in recent years — then the jurist can issue what is known as an “in absentia removal order,” which is supposed to lead to the migrant’s deportation.

I have your border safety/ immigration control right here. Deport every student, visitor, worker who has let their visa expire. Shut the border down, shoot to kill everyone who attempts to enter illegally. That will get their attention and dissuade many from trying to enter. Let people file for immigration from their own country.

The USA is so far in debt, we can't afford to take on the world's unskilled and unvetted refugees.

The problem with Colorado Democrat State Rep. Stephanie Vigil along with Colorado State Senators Faith Winter and Janice Marchman? They think with their estrogen and are totally unserious about their jobs.

Colorado Bill Requires Schools to Use a Student’s ‘Preferred Name,’ Deems Refusals ‘a Form of Discrimination’

bill recently introduced in the Colorado General Assembly would allow students to change their names at school without parental knowledge or consent, and punish school officials who refuse to play along.

Democrat State Rep. Stephanie Vigil and State Senators Faith Winter and Janice Marchman introduced HB24-1039 on January 10, 2024. The bill requires public schools and charter schools to use a student’s preferred name and “deems a school’s refusal to use a student’s preferred name a form of discrimination.”

Vigil, who identifies as “nonbinary,” will reportedly present the bill to the Education Committee on February 15.

But teacher, I want you to call me.............

Non-binary? Oh FFS seek some serious couch time at the nearest shrink's office. And I'll save you the search. She's about as attractive as a hemorrhoid.

Since when did the LAPD get pro-active with misdemeanor charges?

Killer Mike arrested on battery charge.
Well, more information is out about the stunning footage of Killer Mike being taken away after the LAPD released a statement late Sunday night.

The police announced the rap legend "was placed under arrest and was transported to LAPD Central Division" on a misdemeanor battery charge in connection with an alleged altercation shortly prior to the awards ceremony officially starting.

A senseless crime taking away a productive member of society.

A former Donald Trump administration official has been killed after a carjacking in Washington, D.C., authorities said.

I am happy there is no such thing as hate crimes when it is black on white violence.

WTF is going on worldwide with "educators"?!!? Genius Award Winner.

Teacher 'locks boy, 11, in class and strokes his privates as he fondles her boobs'
A teacher could face up to 20 years behind bars after she was accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old schoolboy, including 'stroking his private parts and let him touch her breasts'

And she should get another 25 years in prison for the bad ink jobs on her thighs.

It would have been easy to overlook this mistake. But it wasn't. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Customer Sends Letter And Cash To Restaurant After Realizing His Mistake

Today's good news story comes from Lenoir, North Carolina.

In a heartwarming display of honesty and kindness, a customer at Side Street Pour House and Grill in Lenoir went above and beyond to rectify a simple mistake, turning an ordinary lunch outing into a remarkable story of goodwill.

119 So, apparently Tucker Carlson is doing an interview with Putin today, which makes him the worst traitor ever.

It's perfectly OK for American journalists to interview Osama bin Laden after 9/11 and to interview Ayatollah Khomeini during the hostage crisis, of course.

It's also OK for the New York Times to provide editorial space to senior officials in the Taliban and Hamas.

Bill Kristol has already suggested that Carlson be banned from returning to the United States, so I guess Tucker will have enter the United States through Mexico, like everyone else.

141 I was at the store today and senior had a first cav. Vietnam hat on. I engaged him in conversation and asked him if he was at the first cav convention. I ran into in Gettysburg a few years back. he said no he had not heard of it. Another old guy came up wearing a bunch of navy stuff and asked the guy if he was in the first cav. Then they started talking.

I bet that guy felt pretty good later as three strangers struck up a conversation just because he wore his hat. We always seem to look at strangers as just Randos out there in our world but it’s cool that people can come together just like that particularly over respecting military service.

148 A serious question; Why are Biden's poll numbers so low? By any objective measure Biden has been a very successful president. The economy is doing well and he has passed many bills that have a direct and positive impact on people's lives. So why is his approval rate at 38%?

They are better at messaging than we are. The right wing has been very effective about smearing our candidates -- from swiftboating John Kerry to the decades long campaign against Hilary Clinton to the notion that Biden is too old.

Polls have Kennedy, Stein and West taking points away from Biden. State polls have larger numbers of people voting
“Other”.

most folks have no idea what kind of job Biden is doing. All they know is the price of eggs is too high.

They own all the media from social media to the local rags in towns of 1000. And they all toot the same message: economy bad, Biden sucks, we don't want Harris because she is black or Asian or a woman.

the constant reinforcement of the same message from coast to coast on social media, radio, TV, newspapers and magazines. pretty hard to fight against the constant, constant propaganda.

201 The worst thing that harmed Mitsubishi in the U.S. market, was their co-marketing relationship with the Chrysler Corporation, starting IRRC, the very early '80s?

Mitsubishi's cachet never rose to the heights of Toyota or Honda, as their marketing via MOPAR dealerships didn't help the imports' reputation.

And the MOPAR service network was ill-equipped to know their way around the Japanese product. Mitsubishi remains a 2nd tier, "alternate" option to the pricier, premium Japanese brands.

Of course, Chrysler *did* capture U.S. rights to the Mitsubishi patent for the 4 cylinder, counter-rotating engine balancer shaft.

Fast forward a few decades, and Mercedez-Bens would suffer from the MOPAR taint, as well. But, M-B did come away with the rights to use the Jeep 4x4 patents, which remain some of the best AWD tech to be found.

Back to Mitsu. I do notice, damn few really OLD Mitsubishis on the roads. Quality or Engineering issues? I do not know. Am am not going to chase down the forums, to find out.

It turns out the left embraced Biden because he was associated with Obama. a lot of irony here because the only reason the professional left went with Obama was because they put in a so-called moderate like Biden. They didn’t think Obama had a chance without a more mainstream leftist like Biden.

Biden is one of those guys who keeps getting promoted because everyone wants to get rid of him. Now everyone sees he’s a complete dolt in the Obama relevance has dissipated. Now they are left with a complete dolt.

241 Ducks are majorly underrated in this country. In China ducks are the be all. I actually recall someone writing about why ducks are better than chickens, and they gave about 10 different points. The only one I recall was if you have a few ducks you let them out during the day they feed themselves then they come back. My understanding is chickens are a huge pain, the crap a lot, and you have to take care of them for the most part. I’m sure there are exceptions.

Dodge sold it too, under a different badge and paint job. I forget the model name, but a friend had one with the bright yellow paint job, with black accents up the hood and over the cab, along with decent looking steel wheels and fatter tires.

The Mitsubishi Montero was a contender in class, right between a Toyota 4-Runner and a Land Cruiser. Bit bigger than the 4-Runner, not as luxurious as the LC.

A Montero was a true, off road goat, and probably the most durable of all of the Mitsubishi lineup towards the end of the 20th century.

A few years ago we were shopping for a new SUV for the wife and we test drove a smallish Mitsubishi, I don't remember the model name. It wasn't bad, but the sales crew at the dealership were utterly clueless, so we looked elsewhere. We liked it well enough that we might have bought it if the people we encountered at the dealership weren't such dolts. Wound up buying a Honda CR-V.

262 Thomas Bender. I remember the Mitsu "Diamante". Co-worker owned one.

It was to have been the first "toe in the water" for Mitsubishi to roll out a Lexus/Infiniti grade, premium line of cars.

I'm 5'10", and in the '90s, was as trim and fit as could be.

I didn't fit in the back seat, 'cause the back of my head was right up against the rear window. Ow!

Car was good looking enough, and seemed to be nicely appointed. I can imagine that there are NO parts to be had for one, now!

267 Did a major cleanup in the cargo space of the suburban today. Afew days before leaving home to come down here, I loaded a Studebaker V8 engine on a wooden skid into the back of the rig. Well, the next day, the skid collapsed as I rounded a corner, and the engine toppled over and spilled out a bunch of black oil. I soaked up what oil i could with kitty litter, and got a substantial steel skid built under the engine, and it made it down here safely.

Today I took out the sheet of 3/8" plywood that I had screwed down on top of the rubber mat to make loading stuff easier. Pressure washed at the local car wash. Came back, took out the mat, and the oil-soaked underlay padding (straight into the trash), and sopped up oil and mud and water trapped under it. Got most of it, for sure. I think I will have to replace the plywood; doubt it will take paint, and both sides are oil stained.

Had 2 early 90's Monteros. Loved them. Comes in a close second to the Outback as a snow rig. A bit top heavy and stiff in the handeling department. Had an encounter with 2 moose on the highway one night. As hard as I was swerving that rig should have rolled but didn't. Missed the first moose and would have missed the second if she didn't turn back into me. Took out a fender, windshield post and a mirror. I was fortunate. Hour later that same moose went through the windshield of a nice Cadillac. Only place there wasn't moose was the drivers seat. Very large black gentleman from Louisiana came away unscathed.

300 Since when are legal immigrants allowed in the country? I don’t get this idea that so-called migrants show up and let in and then they’re supposed to show up at a court date seven years from now. no real country ever did this look I understand why Americans except this, but I don’t understand why Americans accept this.

In my YUTE, I want to live in London and then Paris. I had all the right degrees they should’ve wanted me. They didn’t give a damn crap about me, if I were from a former colony for sure, I could move there, but as an American, no chance. Try right now today as an American to show up in England or France or Spain or Italy and see if they give you a green card to work. It is crazy that Americans except us, they don’t realize no other country that controls itself accepts this.

I think a lot of Americans think they can just move to foreign countries and they cannot. Sure maybe if you’re rich and you’re going to buy property and employ locals, but if you think any legit country is going to take on an American based on a college degree or some other wonderful attribute, you are wrong.

308 305, I recalled the movie French kiss. The actor had a hell of a time, retaining her green card in Canada, and she certainly did not get a Canadian passport. That was Meg Ryan.

Maybe I am all wet but I think Americans for some reason think it is normal to show up at a border and be admitted and get a work visa. if if that were true, I would’ve lived in London and Paris, because that was my dream at that time. I had the college degree and I went over there and tried to make it work. I don’t deny many Americans live in Europe and work, but they have very specialized skills the Europeans need they only accept you if you help them not the other way around.

This freefall is crazy. Mexico doesn’t do it. Honduras doesn’t do it. But Americans think it’s normal. If someone shows up they want to live there they can just do it no other country that controls its borders does this. I don’t understand why the Republicans can’t make that obvious point. Parts off the wrecked one made the other one good, and it turned out to be a sweet driver. Sold it to a good friend who got several months of trouble-free use out of it, and then he sold it back to me because he got a sweetheart deal on a much newer rig. 317 To go into this a bit further, for if not now, when? The Europeans, and pretty much every stable country would ask of foreigners, “ do you have a specific skill that our native population does not have?” They would require an American who wanted to live in England to show the job offer and the company would have to show that no person who lived in England England could fulfill that task. The process could take six months or more. This was standard practice in Europe, and really standard practice across the globe.

You don’t hire a foreigner to move to your country unless it is proven that the local population could not do the job he wanted to do. In this warped version of America we have today. None of these words make sense, but if you were a college graduate in the 90s and wanted to live abroad, you knew all of these things that is how it was done.

What pisses me off the most is every other country does it that way and for some reason America has to be this insane thing where we don’t care about our own people and we prefer people from abroad. 322 AOP. From the late '90s to about 2010 or so, hell, Ford OWNED a significant share of Mazda.

That relationship started when Ford bought Mazda B-1800s in the '70s, and sold them as a Ford Ranger. (before that, the "Ranger" was a trim level of the F-100)

And, this relationship FLIPPED in about 1990, when Ford began to produce a DOMESTIC Ford Ranger, and then Mazda bought those rebadged as the Mazda B-2000 (4 cyl) and B-3000 (V-6).

That same Ford Ranger provided the chassis, cowl, windshield/firewall and engine bay, of the 1st gen. Ford Exploder (of Firestone Tire infamy).

And, I remember those Quest "Villagers". Remember the Merkur Xt4? Yeah. Mercury Division was always desperate to find something, ANYthing, to sell to separate themselves from Ford/Lincoln.

Because the Gran Marquis came off the SAME line as the Crown Vic, as the Mercury Sable came off the SAME line, and the venerable Taurus.

Smartest thing FoMoCo ever did, was to kill off the Mercury Albatross.

324 319, exactly, if you are wealthy, and you contribute to the economy for sure you can buy real estate. And if you want to start a business, though, how many Americans could legitimately start a business in Costa Rica, they will let you try for a lot of money. if you are Randall American with a college degree and want to move there and work, I guarantee you there is no chance unless it’s for a very specific reason and a very specific company is sponsoring you.

I just wish people had the education about this, that they understood just the basics things about immigration and other countries. Why is this not taught because anyone who’s looked into it, sees it very clearly. But we are voting on presidents with 90% of the people not having a clue what other countries do, and that is one point. I am absolutely sure on.

332 321, no expert on Apartheid here. I do know their main opponents for communists. Are used to argue with a high school teacher who is huge on the African national Congress back in the day when you could argue with your teachers. It turns out they were communists and many of them want to use a part against their opponents. So I guess they are not squeaky clean.

Then you have Rhodesia. I want to learn more about that, but my understanding is they did not have an apartheid. Both nations were invaded by communists you would think there would be a middle ground.

I do not support any government that bases citizen race that is absurd. my understanding is Rhodesia did not do that and mini Black people regret the fall of Rhodesia. But I admit, I have a lot more to learn about that subject.

But as to borders all the countries do it when did America forget that simple fact that every country does it, unless the country is without any actual government or laws? God we need to teach history.

339 You're on the money about European immigration policy, Quint. I was able to stretch out a few years in London on a student visa in the 90s, but there was no possibility of settling down there. And Nineties London was a pretty awesome place, not even close to what it has become now.

Switzerland has got to be the most restrictive of all Europe though - even assuming you make the cut and are allowed to live there (which, for most of us, would not be the case), you are not allowed to buy and own real estate. Even renting requires you to get a life-long Swiss national to sponsor you, and the Gnomes in Zurich will still put you under a microscope and many are rejected.

Swiss Citizenship is not even a solution, and the prospect of a non-Swiss even obtaining that is remote. From what I've been given to understand, not even having relatives in Thurgau would be any help. (And they've been there going back to the Alemanni invasions!) A lot of the Brit tax exiles who ended up there ran into this, and only those with some fame and fortune were able to thread the needle.

Costa Ricans tend to look down on Nicaraguans. Most Costa Ricans (Ticos) are full-blooded Spanish, and not at all Indio; whereas the country folk of Nicaragua are mostly at least part Indio. And they speak a different flavor of Spanish. And the two countries have a long-simmering border dispute over the Rio San Juan, too.

348 346, I hear ya. I know many Americans have great memories of Costa Rica. I’ve engaged a few about some experiences other Americans have had when trying to actually live there they were having nothing of it..

There is a racial hierarchy, all over Latin America from Mexico to Argentina, in my understanding the rest of Latin America hates Argentina because they think Argentina think they are superior.

I say aside from all of that there is a reason these people in central America. Don’t try to go to Costa Rica, the reason is they are not welcome and they know they will not get the insane benefits we shower them with for no reason whatsoever. I don’t know enough about Costa Rica to speak for it but I think it is a stable country in a very unstable region but there is a reason immigrants don’t go there en masse. They come here and we are too dumb to think that is unusual. Or do anything about it.

349 347 Skip, yeah for any American when they’re in Europe or the UK there’s a ton of walking. I went to London for the first time in 1994 and then went back several times and lived there a short period as well. I think that London is gone and even back then it was kind of crazy and certainly all types of different people, but for sure, there was something that united them that doesn’t exist today.

I looked back at some of the places in Europe I used to travel to, and it saddens me that I don’t even want to go back because of what I’ve seen how they have become. The issue is the same can be said for our own country but you have to live somewhere and this is my home and always will be, but it has changed.

Pretty sure some Nicaraguans work in Costa Rica as "guest workers", but they enter legally, jumping the border is not recommended. I went to Nicaragua several times in recent years, and like it a lot. They have their problems, but the people are very friendly, and they are entrepreneurial. You can even own a gun there. And foreigners can buy and own property.

I've been saying this. Some illegal alien (Mexican) doctor who scammed an entire fucking M.D. off Americans says "she wants to give back." That's why she doesn't want to be deported. She wants a chance "to give back" to America.

You want to GIVE back? Then GO back to your country and make it less shitty so your compatriots don't need to come up here to get basic medical care. You're bilingual, you have a precious American education, you would be an invaluable asset to YOUR country. What, you don't want to go back to your country? What are you, racist?

I'm obviously ranting...
