13 Ten cents a dance
That's what they pay me
Gosh, how they weigh me down!
Ten cents a dance
Pansies and rough guys
Tough guys who tear my gown!
Seven to midnight I hear drums
Loudly the saxophone blows
Trumpets are tearing my eardrums
Customers crush my toes
Sometime I think
I've found my hero
But it's a queer romance
All that you need is a ticket
Come on, big boy, ten cents a dance

Two dances and a nickle back, unless you're there between 08:00 and 18:00. In that window, it gets you three dances - but if you want the discount, you have to use all three dances within a two-hour period or before 18:00, whichever occurs first.

The three-for-a-quarter deal is often used by businessmen enjoying three-martini lunches.

Apparently in the 1920s and onward to the early '50s, in larger cities there were dance halls where men could go for a dance. Ten cents (maybe it was less during Prohibition or the Depression), and you got a three-minute dance with one of the girls. There's a Cornell Woolrich/William Irish short story called "The Dancing Detective" that focuses on this, with the narrator being one of the dime-a-dance girls.

Similar, but that novel and film were about the marathon dance contests that venues would put on during the Depression. Hours, literally, of shuffling around a dance floor, a few minutes' bathroom break every hour, and then back to it again. The last couple standing won whatever the prize was.

“The good news is that America doesn’t have open borders, and there is no significant faction in our politics saying we should.”

Is he stupid or a liar?

And it’s neat how on the one hand we don’t have an open border but we also need to pass this immigration bill to solve the border crisis. That’s what his oped says. Did you know without immigrants Americas economy would be in the toilet? It’s only million of unskilled non English speaking peasants that make us strong. True story, he totally swears it.

Easy. You know that call to Kari Lake talking about a bribe to not run from "folks back east"? Kakamakalaka will get the same call. And she will "decide" not to try and step in. And she'll vanish and buy a house next to Barry and Mike and that's it. The question then, is whom. I worry about that. Trumps unlikables are high amongst swing and ind. voters. >>Did you know without immigrants Americas economy would be in the toilet?

To an extent, that is a true statement.

The entire Western economic, financial and social welfare system is predicated on growth.

Growth in markets, growth in services, growth in government, etc.

Growth in the number of people, undergirds all of the principles.

Birth rates in the west are plummeting, so the only way to fix that glitch is to import people.

And in their schemes any old people will, do.

Doesn't matter if they are incompatible with your indigenous populations, because at the end of the day, your indigenous populations are going to be supplanted.

See all of human history for an analog.

He unrolled and read it without pausing in his speech. Nothing altered in his voice or manner, or in the content of what he was saying, but suddenly the names were different. Without words said, a wave of understanding rippled through the crowd. Oceania was at war with Eastasia! The thing that impressed Winston in looking back was that the speaker had switched from one line to the other actually in midsentence, not only without a pause, but without even breaking the syntax. In 2020 Joe ran from the basement they got him in. If they were going to get rid of Joe, they would have. It would be easy to get someone to backup a bank truck to the Deleware beach house and have him retire and then Harris runs as an incumbent. If they could push Vegetable Joe over the line they can get Word Salad Kamala there, too. But they don't want to. If Kamala were preferable as President or Candidate, they would do it. That they haven't says it's because they don't want to.

The secret to dancing(within limits) is to not care what you think you look like.

No one, least of all yourself, should expect that you're going to look like john Travolta prancing around on the dance floor. Without years of training anyway.

A few basic moves, a nice sense of rhythm, and a willing partner will take you far.

And if you're still shy about dancing...look around the dance floor there are a ton of people who are dancing and look more ridiculous than you ever could.

Okay, now. Everyone hit the dance floor!!!

218 A left-wing Wisconsin Supreme Court justice was endorsed on the campaign trail last year by activists that, around the same time, paid major sums to a Democratic law firm now pressing the court to order new congressional maps ahead of the 2024 election, records show.

Republican lawmakers demanded the recusal last week of Badger State justice Janet Protasiewicz from taking up a redistricting motion due to her criticism of Wisconsin’s “rigged” maps while running in 2023. That heavily scrutinized effort to overhaul Wisconsin elections is being led by Democratic superlawyer Marc Elias, whose influential Elias Law Group raked in more than $680,000 combined for “legal services” in 2023 from left-wing groups that, in turn, rallied to support Protasiewicz, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

Dealing with it the best I can. Worse.

Netanyahu's execution of the war is not exactly hurting Joe Biden - he is not important - but it's rather hurting the Party itself. The Party has been cultivating virulent anti-Semitism and generalized hatred of whites, Jews, Asians, etc. for years and that has been focused on the radical base of the Party: young people who are willing to engage in street war.

But the Party also must play realpolitik and maintain its own internal power balances and those nuances of power do not interest the Red Guards the Party has spent a long time developing. Netanyahu's refusal to play his historical role of taking out a couple of targets and then playing "kumbaya" while the Palis resharpen their knives is causing the Party itself a lot of heartburn, Biden notwithstanding.

359 Federal authorities arrested former Atlantic City council president and Democratic operative Craig Callaway Thursday, alleging he masterminded a mail-ballot fraud scheme in the runup to the 2022 election.

U.S. Attorneys accused Callaway and other unnamed subordinates of paying Atlantic City residents between $30 and $50 to act as authorized messengers and request mail-in ballots for voters whom they had never met. Prosecutors allege that those ballots were later cast without the actual voters’ knowledge.

He'll last a little while longer than that. I'm reminded of William IV, who was crowned in 1830, the King between George IV and Victoria. He was King for 7 years, but he was already old and in bad health when he was crowned, and spent most of his 7 years sick in bed.

But there's no cure for the pain. And no way over/under/around it. Only temporary distractions.

376 But the Party also must play realpolitik and maintain its own internal power balances and those nuances of power do not interest the Red Guards the Party has spent a long time developing. Netanyahu's refusal to play his historical role of taking out a couple of targets and then playing "kumbaya" while the Palis resharpen their knives is causing the Party itself a lot of heartburn, Biden notwithstanding.

Good Summary - what's darkly comical is that Biden and Blinken have browbeaten Israel very close to accepting a bad cease fire 2 or 3 times - and then each time Hamas jumps out and torpedoes the whole thing like demanding that Israel surrender completely before they'll accept a ceasefire, sane and reasonable demands like that.

377 Ray Epps was on the FBI's 10 most wanted list. When he was interviewed by the FBI they released him. Name anyone else in history who was on that list and managed to talk themselves out of trouble.

Here is a hint: The only way that happens is if 1.) You are an undercover or a C.I. for another Federal agency. 2.) You are an undercover or a C.I. for a police department.

Whoever slipped "degrade the adversary's capabilities" into the military lexicon laid the groundwork for the ruin of the organization. I am sure some MBA. Words do mean things.

I first heard it used by General Wesley Clark talking about operations in Serbia. Thought it was absurd made up bullshit then. You can slit the tires on their vehicles and "degrade capabilities."

380 What they discovered in the prostate surgery was prostate cancer. Then they discovered it had metastasized to other parts of the body, so it was technically no longer "prostate cancer". This is what killed both my brother and a friend of mine.

That is the only explanation that fits the facts. When you find prostate cancer you look for signs that it has metastasized. You don't find benign prostate growth and then go "Hey, lets look for a totally unrelated something, which could be an unspecified cancer."
