Reminds me of the battle from 2Kings.
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. - - - - How thrilling and frightening and heartening and wondrous it will someday be to see everything laid bare. To finally have full perspective of all the God had planned. Posted by: red speck at January 29, 2024 09:42 AM (0Id0S) 57

UK National Gallery link that has a brief Overview and an "In-depth" one, plagiarized by Wiki, below.
http://tinyurl.com/yea5nhfa "The Greek inscription mentions ‘the troubles of Italy’, a reference to the invasion of the French, who took Naples in 1494 and Milan in 1499, and to the civil strife in Florence itself. Botticelli associated these events with the turmoil mentioned in the biblical Book of Revelation, which talks about the end of the world and Christ’s second coming. The period of upheaval it described would end upon Christ’s return, when the devil would be buried, as in this picture." No explanation of the crowns or three humans at the bottom; three kings on the left [white racism!] and shepherds, right. Olive branches. This is one busy canvas. A dozen angels (?) up in the sky, three more on the shed roof, four more flanking the Nativity scene itself, three more in the foreground; and then we have Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. DU linked this article, which I didn't see mentioned in the morning report. Evergrande was big news a year or two ago, and there were dire predictions made on what impact its collapse would have on global financial markets.
HONG KONG, Jan 29 (Reuters) - A Hong Kong court on Monday ordered the liquidation of property giant China Evergrande Group (3333.HK), a move likely to send ripples through China's crumbling financial markets as policymakers scramble to contain a deepening crisis. 'a global economic catastrophe.' just in time for November? It is in no one's interest that China falls into a depression. China's economy is in free fall right now. No one knows when it will hit bottom but that is where it is headed. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg this year expect Chinese growth in 2024 (4.5%). There is no consensus that China is in 'free-fall'. Evergrande defaulted on it's debt in December 2021. Its demise is not unexpected. This is not a Lehmann event IMO. During a campaign stop in South Carolina on Saturday that he struggled to get through, Biden, apropos of nothing, decided to resurrect the long-debunked claim against Trump that in 2018 he canceled a visit to Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris and referred to American war dead as “suckers and losers."
This story that Biden cited has been debunked for a long time. Over twenty witnesses who were with President Trump on that trip to Paris, including John Bolton, who is no fan of Trump, disputed the story. Each of them went on the record. 167 " The 1 child policy consequences have begun." Explain please. Posted by: pawn at January 29, 2024 10:14 AM (QB+5g) A population needs every woman to have 2.1 kids on average to maintain the population. China had 1.something for decades with the 1 child policy. So now there are tens of millions of “missing people” who are not themselves having kids. And so the entire population is shrinking. India surpassed China recently. China’s economic model was and is built on growth. And when the population is declining that model collapses. Plus you now have no young people and a tuuuge aging population that will need to be cared for by few workers. Somewhat line out SS problem but much bigger in scale. Or well, original thought is so hard these days. I often point out to the younger people I know that almost every "new" idea they come up with or hear about has been developed before...and generally put into practice so that you can actually see how it turned out. I suspect this is part of the reason the left wants to argue that learning history is racist... Posted by: 18-1 at January 29, 2024 10:59 AM (ibTVg) 371
It appears that until now at least the anti-war side has managed to persuade the pro-war side that a draft might get them the Ceausescu treatment.
Over the weekend there were media outbreaks in at least two countries that "experts say" there will need to be forced conscription to build an army to fight Putin. That's not a coincidence. Posted by: Ian S. at January 29, 2024 10:59 AM (2ocoG) 372

Biden flips out because he's equating himself as being one with the Gold Star families imo.
He maintains he lost his prized son, Beau, to brain cancer related to his tours in Iraq with the DE National Guard, in which he ultimately attained the rank of major in the Judge Advocate General's Corps as part of the 261st Signal Brigade. I imagine Beau's family also receives a VA pension & other benefits. (Burn pit legislation. The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances.) Poor Robert Vaughn
Battle of the Planets with John Boy. Posted by: Anna Puma at January 29, 2024 *** His view was that a working actor works. Yes, he chose poorly sometimes. Teenage Caveman he thought was going to be an anti-nuclear war statement; Julius Caesar in 1970 with Jason Robards and Charlton Heston was a disappointment. But he worked steadily from the late '50s onward. As he put it, "I parlayed my fifteen minutes of fame into a fifty-year career." The Taylor Swift-NFL thing is hilarious. Or, at least the arguments surrounding it are. I haven't seen anything like this since I was in grade school. Old men complaining the she's "ruining the game", old women screaming that the men "are just jealous haterz"
