Aggshully, this Friday, February 2nd is Candlemas, the celebration of teh purification of Mary and the presentation of Jesus in the Temple, 40 days after his birth. Some of us Traddies consider that the end of the Christmas season. I leave up my wreaths and my Nativity display until then.

101 Hey, I found a backpack on my Sunday walk by the river. I investigated to see if there was some ID that I could notify about the find. It was full of a change of clothes, toothbrush/paste, Magnum condom and hand sanitizer. It did have a wallet that proudly proclaimed El Salvador in the stitching. No ID, no money, nothing. I concluded that a Salvadoran corpse is likely loose on the Potomac. I was confused that Salvadorans use Magnum condoms'.

A population needs every woman to have 2.1 kids on average to maintain the population. China had 1.something for decades with the 1 child policy. So now there are tens of millions of “missing people” who are not themselves having kids. And so the entire population is shrinking. India surpassed China recently.

China’s economic model was and is built on growth. And when the population is declining that model collapses. Plus you now have no young people and a tuuuge aging population that will need to be cared for by few workers. Somewhat line out SS problem but much bigger in scale.
