John Hinderaker reports on a Rasmussen survey of urbanites with graduate degrees. The TLR is they are fascists. "77% say they favor the “strict rationing of gas, meat and electricity.”

People who have nothing whatsoever to do with the production of gas, meat, or electricity are not people who should be considered worthy of giving a moments notice to their opinion. Just what in the hell did they learn in a two decades of education?

118 Divide by Zero, I have run into this with diesel. Even using diesel clean the only way to get rid of it is to run the tank almost dry. First time it happened I had the tank dropped and cleaned. Second time I knew what it was.

119 I think the alcohol or whatever is in Stabil will absorb some moisture from fuel, but there are products specifically for that, as long as the concentration is not too high.

It was on a slab too.

Back in the late 80's or early 90's Memphis experienced a really cold Christmas. Well below freezing. Some people who had gone away for the holidays returned to ice waterfalls inside their homes from burst pipes in the attic spaces.

Some of the photos were epic.

I'm going to run it in about an hour, and if it improved, like a sensor reset, I'll go down to O'Reilly's and have them plug in the reader. It's time for it to go in the shop for a going over anyway. If it's still real rough, I'll just cal AAA and have them haul it down the road to the shop tomorrow or Tuesday. If it improved I'll just drive it in and leave it to their mercies.

132 Since today is Sanctity of Life Sunday (for some, not all churches), I'll just leave this here:

"Abortion attacks the character and nature of God, assaults those God cherishes, and destroys the weakest and most vulnerable among us. This Sanctity of Life Sunday, let us remember as Christians why we value life, why we oppose the murder of those in their mother’s wombs, and why we seek to abolish such murder from our land. And may God pour out His compassionate mercies upon us and change the hearts of our fellow Americans, that we might live in a nation whose people love life because we love Christ."

153 States instituted a variety of short-term waivers allowing candidates to teach without fulfilling their normal requirements.
Were teachers worse for this lack of training?

New research from Massachusetts and New Jersey suggests maybe not. In both states, teachers who entered the profession without completing the full requirements performed no worse than their normally trained peers.

So teaching certs and education degrees mean nothing in real lie. Anyone with a degree from a 4 year college in science, math, or English can teach K-12 science, math, or English.

160 The instructor certification training and requirements where I work (a three-letter Agency) have all been replaced by woke BS that has zero to do with education and teaching, so much so that my boss asked the old timers to put together an in-house 'informal' seminar to provide that information to new instructors. I suspect this has been a widespread practice in the world of adult learning.

So the story about modern teacher certification being useless does not surprise me.

As far as everyday teaching, everything is about the 'lesson plan'. It's the roadmap for every day of the school year. Most schools require the teacher to turn it in at the end of the year. If that teacher does not return in September the new teacher receives it.

Nowadays the teachers keep a copy online and turn in the hard copy in June.

Anyone with reasonable intelligence could teach a day, a week, or the entire school year from that plan.

P.J. O'Rourke said decades ago that anyone who doesn't know what's wrong with America's educations system has clearly never slept with an education major. I thought he was joking until I did it.

There's really no nice way to say this: A lot of the (mostly women) who major in Education are dumb. I'm not saying 'all', I'm not saying 'most', but I am saying 'a lot', for whatever value you want to assign to that. I had one woman (friend of an art teacher that I was having things to do with) flat out tell me she became a teacher because it was the easiest degree you can get.

Even a reasonably well read autodidact could lead basic English, literature and other such classes. The idea that you need a four year degree to talk about literature is nuts.

My experience in the matter was with Catholic schools and fortunately about 90% conservative teachers. In the end the school I was affiliated with (in a conservative community) failed to address the issue of the leftist teacher(s). Parents were pulling their kids out of the school because they did not want their students exposed to him/her/them. I had my say, conveying parental concerns to the proper person. In the end I paid for not keeping my mouth shut. The school eventual failed because of finances but mainly leftist teachers who chased students away.
