Ask Not For Whom The Bell Tolls, It Tolls For ONT

Howdy horde! How's the weather where you are? It's crazy here. Today was 65 and sunny, just a lovely shorts and t-shirt day. 3 days ago the low was 11. Monday was that rare day I had to run the kerosene heater all day in my office, today I had the door open to enjoy the breeze. So what else is going on in the world today?

Let Freedom Ring

In case you missed it, This week Javier Milei went before the WEF and told them dead to their faces that they are what's wrong with the world, and it was glorious.

At the turn of the 20th century Argentina had an economy and freedoms that were on par with the US. Milei says he wants to bring that back, and damned if I'm not starting to believe him.

That's Why I Never Order The Disgusting Burger Surprise

McDonald’s leaves man ‘sweating and shaking’ after disgusting burger surprise has him ‘vomiting’: ‘Wrecked’

he aftereffects of a disgusting McDonald’s surprise are still haunting a man who indulged in a fast food feast over the weekend.
Australian man Anton Vallely was scarfing down a Quarter Pounder at about 2 am Saturday after having a few drinks, but his enjoyment of the meal was short-lived.
In the dark, he had about three bites into the burger before stopping to investigate the source of a suspicious taste with his phone’s flashlight.
What he saw was two patties that appeared to be only partially cooked.
“I’ve been sweating and shaking,” Mr Vallely told news.com.au, who said he had felt “wrecked” since eating the burger, which he bought from the Coolum store on the Sunshine Coast.

I generally go for the $3.50 double cheeseburger bundle. That and a Coke gets you lunch for about $5

WWE legend Hulk Hogan helps rescue teenage girl involved in car crash

WWE legend Hulk Hogan helped to rescue a teenage girl whose car overturned in a multi-car accident in Clearwater, Fla., according to a report by USA Today. Hogan had reportedly been driving with a friend when they stopped to respond to the accident, with Hogan helping the teen driver get out of her car by popping the car's airbags with tools he had on hand.

According to a post by Sky Daily, Hogan's wife, the driver was shaken up but otherwise uninjured.

"Last night, after we left dinner in Tampa, we saw a car flip in front of us! I truly admire my husband @hulkhogan and our good buddy @jakerask for springing into action, puncturing the girls airbag, and getting her quickly out of the car," read Daily's post, shared by TMZ. "By all appearances, she was unscathed, just really rattled, which is an absolute miracle!"

Imagine you've flipped your car. Dazed, you look around, trying to clear your head and orient yourself. Suddenly, you look to your left and see the Hulkster reaching out for you: “Take my hand, Brother!” Gotta be a surreal experience.

Ohio SWAT Team Raids Wrong House, Seriously Injures Baby With Flashbang Grenade, Denies Responsibility

Courtney Price was at home on Wednesday taking care of her one-year-old son, Waylon, when they experienced a terrifying and traumatic altercation with local law enforcement. What should have been an ordinary day took a turn for the worse when SWAT officers broke into the home, searching for a suspect.

In the aftermath of the raid, it was revealed that law enforcement had targeted the wrong home, and tragically, their actions resulted in the baby sustaining injuries. The events that unfolded left the family shaken and seeking justice for Waylon’s suffering.

Read the entire story at the link. There are several trends I've noticed over the past 50 years that mirror the decline of our society, things like the decline of the nuclear family and the increase in homelessness, one of them is the degradation of the police from “Protect and Serve” to “Cower and Obey”. One of the things that has to be done as we recapture this country from the Marxists is a complete restructuring of police forces around this country. QI (qualified immunity) needs to be done away with, as does CAF (civil asset forfeiture). These two things turn local police departments into unaccountable revenue generators for local governments. I don't think most municipalities need SWAT teams, or if they do, their use should be strictly limited, and certainly they shouldn't be used for no-knock raids (which also need to be abolished). Opponents of these proposals will say that enacting them puts officer's lives at risk, and makes their jobs more dangerous. I agree. It will. But that's one of the main reasons that police are traditionally held in high regard in America. They have voluntarily accepted a role that puts them at risk to benefit the community as a whole. Too many police today want to be treated as paladins while acting like enforcers. You can't have it both ways.

Of Course, This Would Help Too

Well surprise, surprise, surprise. This is my shocked face.

In Politics

Iowa Was Bad, Bad News for Ron DeSantis

Well, Monday night kind of sucked. It super sucked. That’s the thing about politics – sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. While my candidate, Ron DeSantis, did come in second and beat 2004’s favorite daughter, Nikki Haley, which was nice, he came in a pretty distant second. I’d like to see a path for him to win the nomination. That would make me happy. He’s a very talented guy who doesn’t have a lot of the problems that Donald Trump has, such as the fact that about 53% of the voters irrationally hate former prezzy. But my party seems to be going in another direction. I don’t see a path for Ron DeSantis to win. New Hampshire’s primary voter roll is full of Democrats and suburban wine women. South Carolina loves Trump. What’s the state after that where he’s going to not just come back, but come back like a tsunami? I just don’t see it, and it doesn’t make me happy to say it. But I have to say what I think. And I think Iowa has made clear that the base is intent on riding Donald J. Trump all the way to the finish line.

This strikes me as being true. And I think DJT has a shot at beating Biden. It's not a guarantee, but Biden is awful. My problem is that I don't think Biden's going to be the nominee, I'm pretty damn sure the Dems are planning a convention switch-a-roo to someone like Newsome or (Michelle) Obama. Fair or not, Trump has high negatives with moderates. Biden does too, so it balances out. But someone like Obama (1st woman! Slay Qween!) doesn't. That could be a hard road to hoe.

Insurrection

The one ‘insurrectionist’ the federal government loves

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, one man called for protesters to storm the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. That same man will not spend a day behind bars. If the federal prosecutors had wanted to prove that Ray Epps was a federal asset that day, they couldn’t have done a better job.

Epps first appeared on the government’s most-wanted list days after January 6, 2021, but was promptly and mysteriously removed. That led to speculation that Epps might have been a government agent. Dozens of videos surfaced over the past three years showing Epps involved in behavior that, under the January 6 rules, should have resulted in an armed pre-dawn raid, pretrial detention, multiple felony charges, and ultimately, years in federal prison.

But strangely, Epps was never arrested. On September 5, nearly three years after the events of January 6, the Justice Department sent Epps’ attorney a letter offering a plea deal on a single misdemeanor.

Apparently, in conversations with the government that are not part of the public record, Epps accepted the deal, and with no fanfare, a case was initiated on September 18, 2023, and Epps accepted his plea deal four days later. Case closed.

There was an insurrection on January 6. It's just not the one that the government and media keep trying to make you believe.

Tonight's ONT has been brought to you by a bouncing baby boy:

lol love it!

I think the attitude might be the result of over-involved parents, plus having said parents subsidize nicer housing than I had until I was like 40

I lived in rat-infested crapholes during college (west Philly, so no I'm really not exaggerating that). one bad apartment after another, with random roommates as well. kitchens from the 70s (if you are lucky) and knob and tube wiring lol.

my parents were too busy with their new sweethearts to help us with anything - including college tuition. it wouldn't occur to me to look to my elders for support in the way that Millennials do - because they were often very much supported! which is a nice thing I guess? I have no idea I was raised by wolves.

We danced in the streets when Joe Biden was elected. Do you remember? American cities staged the greatest spontaneous outpouring of joy since V-J Day with cars honking and strangers high-fiving one another on an unusually warm November weekend. When I ventured down to Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, D.C., on a Sunday night, a day and a half after the election had been called, the street party was still going. That was just three years ago.

The puppies are growing like little weeds. Their play time is becoming fast and furious as they learn how to control their bodies.

Play is very important for growing muscles, improving coordination, setting a pack hierarchy and teaching about just how far to go in a battle between (or among) siblings. Along with food and water, there are plenty of toys for them to have fights over in the outdoor pen.

True science fact -- the formerly stereotypical suicide act of sticking one's head in a gas oven with the gas running these says will merely make you sick from the mercaptan compounds they add to the gas to give is a noticeable odor.

However, years ago when the supplied gas for ovens was obtained via the coal gasification reaction, the burnable component consisted of mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen in roughly equal quantities by volume. It was the carbon monoxide that would suffocate you when you stuck your head in the oven for a prolonged period of time.

About time someone told those people that their own elitist schemes for the lot of humanity up to and of course, not including their own selves, are the worst thing for the world. Had a member of my larger family who was so angry his wife opened a few Christmas presents with the kids that he took his WW1 handgun, went upstairs and shot the baby boy (who died), shot his daughter (who lived), then went to his wife and said, "Look what you made me do" before blowing his brains out.
Obituary of the daughter (many, many years later--she lived to be almost 90) only said that her Dad and brother died in a tragedy. I can understand why they left out the details.

Eithan Haim, Whistleblower Exposed Texas Children’s Hospital For ‘Lying To The Public’ Regarding Gender-Affirming Surgeries

Last spring, I published a whistleblower report on the secret sex-change program at Texas Children’s Hospital. (part of the Texas Medical Center, the largest and most presteigous medical center in the world and home of the idiot *Dr. Hotez pusher of fake medicine from the TMC's Baylor Medical) The hospital had promised to stop such procedures, which included the administration of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones—but in fact, it continued to perform transgender medical interventions on children as young as 11.

While the Texas Children’s Hospital has reportedly said it would not provide such procedures to minors, Dr. Haim came forward as a whistleblower and gave documents to journalist Christopher Rufo that allegedly expose the hospital for behaving otherwise.

I was thinking along similar lines. You'd want an attorney experienced in going after government because of the intimidation factor government has at its disposal. As you say, personal injury attorneys want to settle quickly, walk away with their cut and move on to the next case. When you have this much of a knee-jerk reaction to this malfeasance/obfuscation/bullshit police screw-up, and with the injuries the plaintiffs sustained, the case is going to be anything but quick.

She worked as a lawyer for about a year before getting bored with the grunt work first year lawyers all have to do. Then she worked in the mayor's office in Chicago, a place where at least one Alderman was wearing a wire for law enforcement for twelve years. Then she pounded out two children, presumably Barack's. And when Barack was elected, a Chicago Hospital invented a high-paying position for her. The position did not exist before she was hired and was not filled when she quit and the only thing she did in the position was propose an illegal patient dumping scheme to get rid of patients without insurance or Medicaid. Then of course, she lectured the country for eight years will taking multimillion dollar vacations. Following her time in the Whitehouse, she wrote a book that netted her 8 figures and likely sold 50 or 60 thousand copies. And now she and her husband get paid eight figures a year to put their names on other people's work at Netflix. That's the 'highlights'.

Dew point locally dropped to nearly 0F. RH in the house got down to the low 30%. I got a big ol' pot of water, put it on the stove wide ass open, and boiled off some water. I managed to get RH in the kitchen up to 50%. It took a while to get it there.

Then cut off the stove, and watch it start dropping again.

I asked my cousin, the retired meteorologist what was happening with this ridiculous dry air. There was a lot of crazy local variation in dew points. Right here, we were dry. He sent me this text from the forecast discussion at GSP NWS station (he used to run that before he retired):

"The vort max will be out of the area in another hour, and then we will await deeper moisture and better
forcing later tonight. Made minor adjustments to evening temps and dewpoints, with guidance finally catching onto the dramatically drier air which mixed down to the sfc this afternoon."

The forecast guidance hadn't anticipated this "dramtically" drier air. Dramatically dry describes it well.

The cold pushed all the moisture out of the air in the first couple days. It's unlikely they spaced the equation (Clausius-Clapeyeron equation/relation - I had to look that up). The number of factors going into a weather forecast is astonishing, especially with an anomalous event like this. Explaining stochasticity is laymen's terms is difficult for a lot of people.

The first thing she did once she was free of the stifling White House was put on a one-shoulder blouse and go shopping. She has since said that she doesn't like cooking and won't do it. 378 {{JQ}}, I am out of here, been lurking around all night. We have more snow on the way tomorrow night, I don't like it which is kind of funny because way back in the old days a snowstorm was cause for celebration. Youth is truly wasted on the young.

381 'Night, Debby!

Ah, snow is great when it's not TOO cold out... and if you don't need to drive in it.

We've got the powdery, too-cold snow. Can't even make snowballs with it.

383 Morning, insomaniacals! 'Tis a strange 58 here, with temps predicted to plummet to below freezing tonight and Sat. night. So I have no excuse not to go work out this a.m., and every reason to do it.

Slept straight through, six hours and a bit. Can't complain too much about that. Howz witchoo?
